The Tribal Trip, with Adesse Vesions and O'Flynn on Thursday 30th November 2017
In the first of our new series of shows, we will be taking you on a trip through the realms of alternative house music. From tribal and world inspired beats, to funky house and nudisco, expect an eclectic mix of up-beat and uplifting bangers to get lost in under the rainbow roof of Mint.
Laying down the style for the night, we are delighted to have two of dance music's most unique artists joining our residents and local guests: Adesse Versions and O'Flynn. Both will provide contrasting yet complementing sets that are bound to leave you wanting more. This is going to be special.
// ADESSE VERSIONS: Adesse Versions is the present and prevailing alias of Kevin Gorman, a UK DJ and producer who has been active from early 2001. Gorman’s music has spanned a number of valued and innovative record labels including Numbers, Ostgut Ton, Cocoon and Local Talk, with recent productions on Toy Tonics.
The Adesse alias began as a simple re-edit series, with the humble prospect of releasing a number of limited white labels. The project quickly expanded with the release of original tracks and remixes, quickly securing their prominence amongst his notable edits. Releases including Baayi, Pressured, and Pride have garnered huge praise for the artist, with unrivalled support from prominent figures such as Larry Heard, Derrick May and Gilles Peterson.
The style defined by Adesse Versions utilises irregular sampling channels mixed with an honest and raw emotion to bring forward a cut-and-paste process and uplifting undercurrent to the ethos of classic house music. His complex beats, mixed with soaring house euphoria tease the desirability of the dance floor.
As an artist and DJ, his international demand seems not to be slowing down. Expect a selection of exclusive edits, alongside a diverse inclusion of music discovered and implemented throughout his sets from an underlying knowledge and deep passion for what he does.
// O'FLYNN: O’Flynn is a young producer and DJ from London who has been hailed by Boiler Room as “one of dance music’s most prosperous newcomers”.
One of the standout 12 inches of 2015 came in the form of O’Flynn’s debut release; ‘Tyrion’, which quickly became a tool that Four Tet rarely left out of his sets, while the anthemic ‘Desmond’s Empire’ won support from Gilles Peterson and was used to soundtrack festivals throughout the summer.
His follow up ‘Oberyn / Spyglass’ featured more clattering percussion and upfront energy and garnered Radio 1 and Rinse airtime from James Blake and Hessle Audio respectively. Whilst ‘Glow Worm / Aloha Ice Jam’ was championed by the likes of Bonobo and named by Phonica as one of their “Best Singles of 2016”.
Maintaining the pace in 2017 with remixes for FaltyDL and Addison Groove, and his debut release on seminal dance label Ninja Tune, O’Flynn continues to develop as an exciting new name in the electronic dance music scene
