Clare Kelly / The Blacksmith / Liam Sullivan / Molly Rymer on Friday 29th March 2019

Clare Kelly
'The audience fell silent, in complete awe of her ability, mesmeric voice and dreamy guitar tones; each song comprising of emotive and deeply personal lyrics” - Counterfeit
“Drenched in so much wit and cynical humour it suits me down to a tee…she went down an absolute storm - exceptional” - BBC Introducing North Yorks (Jericho Keys)
A solo female alt-folk artist, releasing her single ‘Less Alone’; a melancholic tale of returning home to Yorkshire after 18 months travelling abroad and trying to adapt back to the life she had before her adventures.
She’s received heavy support from BBC Introducing and has also performed live in session, and also had songs featured on TV.
Clare is an experienced and powerful performer, having toured across the UK, USA and Australia. Clare will also be releasing her next EP later in the year, following similar themes of travel and relationships, with a unique twist.
The Blacksmith
'....has a story to tell and a voice that needs to be heard. Amazing vocal melodies with raw energy and passion.' - Assembly Point
Sometimes in life, we just have to start again.
After recovering from an operation in 2016, Jack had to learn how to speak and sing again:
“It was tough. Bloody tough. There’s no other way to describe it. I felt so foolish that I had taken my voice for granted all those years.”
Whilst the six hour operation was a success, the nerves that fed the voice had been stretched. Months of rehabilitation with voice expert followed, with an extensive range of exercises and techniques to mould whatever was left back into something that could hold a tune.
Slowly, the voice re-emerged. It was time to go back to the forge, to hammer out something new.
“I always knew in the back of mind that if my voice did come back, I’d have to start a new project. The idea of just me and an acoustic really appealed. No fuss, no gimmicks, just good songs.
Liam Sullivan
Following the release of his solo E.P. 'Restless' in 2016 he’s been playing with a group of excellent musicians; recently finishing his new E.P. 'The News I Needed', set for release later this year, it sees Liam take on a darker and heavier sound. He’s certainly honed his craft and the new songs show off his exceptional lyricism, each song taking you on a journey through time and space.
He’s an energetic and mesmerising performer, combining raw energy with gut wrenching emotion.
Molly Rymer
A singer-songwriter from Leeds, playing her own songs, which are well written with clever lyrics and she has great subtle guitar skills, and a wonderful talent on our scene and has previously appeared at the Brudenell and live in session on BBC Radio Leeds, having also worked with Mike Heaton from Embrace on the track 'I Leave Today' from her EP, Where I Am Now.
Molly is an avid performer and regular face at Chapel FM, helping her begin to make waves on the Leeds music scene.
