Carpe Noctum: Rome Burns, In Isolation and the F.U.X. on Saturday 7th December 2019

Rome Burns are back for their first UK gig since .... the last time they played at Carpe. This is the launch party for their much-anticipated, crowd-funded, fourth album.
They weave art, electronic rhythms and live instruments to produce a complex post-punk tapestry. Described by Mick Mercer as the UK's most charming alternative band, he continues, 'their music can at times be rawly invigorating while at others takes on a more soothing glow, dazzling you with restraint and the best lyrics in the UK Goth scene'. They may also sing a ditty about doing unspeakable things to dogs in the park, should a guitarist need to change a string.

In Isolation, from Nottingham, make a long-overdue - and much-requested - return to the Carpe stage! Influenced by the more underground post-punk sounds of the 80s plus overground new wave artists of that era. Featuring ex-members of Every New Dead Ghost, Emma Conquest and Die Laughing, and adding influences from the angled indie sounds of the noughties and post-noughties, the band creates a sound your ears may very well want to get into bed with.

THE F.U.X. are the new side project from 1919 frontman Rio, alongside bandmate Sam and Alina Airline (The Lengthmen). Fuzzy dreamy indie: they are The F.U.X. .... and they don’t give a damn!
The Carpe Noctum club night follows, with our resident DJs HGV and Misrule playing the best classic and contemporary dark alternative - goth, post-punk, industrial, garage, psychobilly, indie, punk and what-have-you - through till 2am. It's the biggest and longest-running night of its kind in the North!
