FIONA is a singer-songwriter based in Leeds. Over the past year she has been working on a set of songs written with and inspired by the community as part of her Songs of Experience Project.
The first three instalments to be released will explore issues surrounding gender, mental health and sexuality. Influenced by Nick Cave, PJ Harvey and JoniMitchell. Her songs feature complex and expressive lyrics supported by her powerful voice and folk inspired instrumentation.
Mehalah Ray is an award winning singer/songwriter based in Leeds and Cambridge. Her
compositions are delivered with great subtlety and have captured the imagination of BBC
Introducing, Radio 1 and 6 Music tipping her as a rising star for the future.
Her EP 'UNFORGIVABLE’ is free to enjoy here: www.mehalahray.com
“We were absolutely mesmerised when we heard Mehalah’s music” - Tom Simkins BBC Introducing
“If Mehalah Ray’s debut EP Invasion was to break into the charts, the songs on it could be universally
adored by people regardless of age” - Drunken Werewolf
“Comparing her to a modern day Joni Mitchell, these songs aren’t hiding any gloomy undertones
Joni is known for, but that’s to Mehalah Ray’s credit, she is one of the most genuinely easy to like
songwriters I’ve heard in a long while - her voice is the prettiest thing you’ll hear today” - Raw Meat
At just 21 years old, Brooke channels a maturity and life ethic that’s wise beyond her age, having been born and raised just outside Newcastle before relocating to New Cross to study at Goldsmiths. ‘Heavy And Ephemeral’ is the first track to be taken from Brooke’s forthcoming debut EP, the swells and plummets of which feel as inspired by the epic alt rock journeying of War On Drugs as the emotional vocal depths of Sharon Van Etten or Angel Olsen.
Music Genres: Acoustic, Electronic, Folk, Pop, Spoken Word
