Back To Basics w/ Mr G (live), Steve Bug, Ralph Lawson on Saturday 18th March 2017

The U.K's longest running club night returns to Church's main room with MR G live, Steve Bug, Ralph Lawson, James Holroyd & Dave Beer.

MR G

Having been in the game for around 2 decades now, Mr. G is widely considered to be one of the most under-rated artists about - with only true music fans appreciating his vast contribution to dance music.

He’s achieved great acclaim for releases on other labels such as Defected, Duty Free, The End and Skint/Loaded, and remixing a wide range of artists - overground from chart-topping Roger Sanchez to Ms Kittin, and underground from Xpress II to Josh Wink and Ben Sims - he also received much attention for his releases/remixes out of Detroit on Moods ‘n’ Grooves.

The term 'legend' is often banded around willy nilly in the dance music realm, but Mr. G, aka Colin McBean, is one of the few who can rightfully lay claim to this accolade.

STEVE BUG

Germany‘s very own taste-maker, trend-setter, mover-shakerextraordinaire Steve Bug is a multi-faceted artist who refuses to back down from the limelight. A dedicated, energetic and constantly surprising talent, Steve is nothing less than an electronic music ambassador, a much-loved spokesman to the people, and for good reason.

'Growing Up‘ in Germany‘s techno and acid-house heyday, Steve Bug‘s love for a perfect groove is as apparent now as it was back then. From the very early days DJjing in Bremen and Hamburg it was clear there was a strong talent waiting to be nurtured. With a bit of encouragement from Superstition‘s Tobias Lampe, Steve‘s very first productions were released in 1993 and his musical story began. Besides this his DJ skills and keen, innovative, ear led him not down the typical path of the early nineties trance and harder dance scene, but towards a fresher, hybrid sound merging stripped deep house, tweaked out acid and more minimal forms of techno.

RALPH LAWSON

Ralph holds the honour of playing the first ever record at Back to Basics in Leeds and is best known for his 19 year residency at the club and his record label 2020Vision.

Ralph Lawson has played a pioneering role in electronic underground dance music for the past two decades. Lawson is widely regarded as being one the very best House DJs in the world. He currently holds residencies at Back To Basics Leeds, We Love Space Ibiza and Barcelona’s The Loft as well as regular appearances at Berlin’s Watergate and London’s Fabric. Bill Brewster (“Last Night a DJ Saved My Life”) described Ralph as undoubtedly one of “the UK’s best-kept secrets”, for those who have yet to hear his sound. He was recently nominated for ‘Best British DJ” along with 2020 Vision for ‘Best label’ in 2009 by DJ magazine and has won five major awards for during his residency at Back To Basics since it’s inception in 1991. He is a founder member of the highly acclaimed band 2020Soundsystem as well as running 2020Vision recordings and hosting a weekly 2020mix on Ibiza Sonica radio.
