La Discotheque - Leeds on Saturday 10th March 2018

Leeds disco lovers rejoice! La Discotheque will be taking over Canal Mills for the very first time on Saturday 10th March 2018 and you're all invited!

If you've not heard of us yet... La Discotheque have been putting on humongous parties at Albert Hall in Manchester over the last 18 months with line-ups including; Todd Terje, Dimitri from Paris, Derrick Carter, Candi Staton, Jocelyn Brown, Nicky Siano, Hercules & Love Affair, Norman Jay, Crazy P, Horse Meat Disco, Evelyn Champagne King, Greg Wilson, PBR Streetgang, DJ Spen, Roy Davis Jr and so many more awesome artists! We also took home ‘Best Club Night’ at the Manchester Evening News CityLife Awards in Jan 2017.

We're renowned for an eclectic mix of old and new soul and disco and we call on guests to wear their most vibrant clothing and come head to toe in glitter!

Providing aural pleasure in the main room this March is Norman Jay, an easily recognisable figure, having been DJing in the public eye for three decades and more and receiving his MBE title for services to music along the way. A house DJ with funk and soul leanings, Jay is often believed to have coined the phrase “rare groove”, and has an excellent knowledge of vintage gems from the days before digital.

Norman will be accompanied by deep house/funk/disco band Crazy P who will be performing LIVE for this special occasion. Crazy P are a band that have managed to both uphold the heritage of soul, musicianship and song writing that is an essential part of the fabric of house and disco, and also stay current, letting those fundamental elements of the sound inform and mark out their takes on the club floors and younger audiences that they consistently turn inside out. We're honoured to have them on the billing.
Greg Wilson will be returning to La Discotheque for the third time! His set was regarded as the highlight of the launch party back in November 2016, this news will certainly delight dance fans from far and wide. As a resident of the legendary Hacienda, Greg was instrumental in breaking the new electronic, post-disco records coming out of New York and turning them into a new sound that he dubbed ‘Electro-Funk’.
Lisa Millet will do a Live PA for our Leeds take-over and you will not be disappointed! She is undoubtedly one of the top vocalists and songwriters in house music today. Lisa has spanned two decades working with a who’s who of dance, from the early years with the likes of Paul Oakenfold and Frankie Knuckles to the present day with DJ Spen, Jamie Lewis and Juan Kidd
Completing this stellar line-up will be Leeds’ PBR Streetgang who will be hosting Room 2 bringing along some very special guests including Tristan Da Cunha, Chris Duckenfield + Pleasure Connection.
The entire venue will be transformed into a disco paradise, complete with giant disco balls, glitter cannons and dance podiums. The carnival atmosphere doesn't stop on the dance floor either. At this most flamboyant of clubbing affairs, the ladies toilets are transformed into a micro club - complete with DJ and prosecco bar and aptly named La Piscotheque.
We want guests to get involved and bring their own party style, we would love to see flamboyant clothing, loads of glitter and none stop disco dancing!
See you in March
