We Are All Trees : Reincarnation on Friday 30th August 2019

We are rebirthing, reincarnating, reimagining....WERE BACK!! WE ARE ALL TREES 2019!! We have missed you from the bottom of our lungs and hearts and cant wait to be back together in the beautiful trees to make some magic!! With it being a significant transitional year of Barry's (owner,Blackwood Barry) 70th earth spin and Hannah's (curator and daughter of the blackwood) 30th earth spin we couldnt not have a celebration! Creating a feast for your eyes, soul and mind: FRIDAY: SWEET MILC The inner workings of the psyche and journey of Hannah Houghton..sometimes dark, sometimes childlike,an expression of the often warped and laughable combination of scattered thoughts, feelings and ideas through synthy noises and sounds.Join her on this opening ritual. CYNTHIAS PERISCOPE Manchester based beautifully strange lofi electronica pop. Varying from tender introspection to brutal catharsis, his experimental confessional beats are as danceable as they are weird. Inspired by Little Dragon, the Knife, Atoms for Peace, John Maus and Moderat 'A wonderful fusion of the melodic and the occasionally macabre, a tricky, trippy sound that nods towards the dancefloor but also has a cerebral, emotive and soul-purging quality to it vocally and lyrically that you don’t often come across in electronica.' Analogue Trash TEKLA Tekla is a solo performer from Manchester who crafts eerie, lullaby-like songs, which have been described as 'understated, yet brimming with invention and delicate beauty.' Expect layered imagery, spacious melodies and fragile finger-picking. Tekla has played across the UK and you can catch her fairly regularly in Manchester at local venues and DIY shows. Her debut EP was released on SSH Records as a split with local artist Playacting in 2016, and she will be recording her debut album this year. SILVER TREES As we amble through the forest, both lost and bewildered, through the undergrowth we go, looking up through the maze of dark branches as dusk arrives and the last rays of the sun begin to fade, we hear distant melodic sounds floating through the still air and engulfing our sonic senses, the sound seem closer, it's coming from the glen down below, we wander looking through the trees and spy goblins, fearies, dwarfs and the animals gathering for it be those Silver Trees bringing aural delight to the forest folk and creatures long into the night.... ROSE AND THE DIAMOND HAND Rose & the Diamond Hand create atmospheric, downtempo songs with a gothic tinge. Intense bass, subdued electronica and primal beats provide a frayed canvas for Rose Niland’s expressive vocals, earning the band comparisons to Portishead, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Cocteau Tiwns. THREE DIMENSIONAL TANX 'They whip up a frenetic froth and transfusion of punk energy, fractured space rock and manic psych (with a little Krautrock no less) that grabs you by the short hairs and doesn’t let go. They aren’t adverse to giving them a good hard tug either to yank a few out. In short, it’s fantastic. Of all the ingredients that go into their sound, the prime mover has to be their relentless energy, their inherent vitality.'Sunrise Ocean Bender “Three Dimentional Tanx have a sound that is the essence of garage psychedelia, a heady mixture of freak out and manic energy delivered via a kick ass rhythm section, lysergic wah wah guitars, krautrock synths/ 60s organ and a lead singer who may very well have lost his mind. If you need comparisons, try early Who or Sonics dropping cheap speedy acid with the Television Personalities. No, on second thought, that doesn’t even come close. These guys are great.”Active Listener ZIMZUM https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DRnEW0rmyD9I%26fbclid%3DIwAR0gdCAtYsJDuicZfwDJONPhO_yOiMS2r2mTVgkWvkd12Jj-CFl1MDw59q4&h=AT02nJXN7S-AT6CuZ-NKdhhmXPLt1nAf-yodR7sNpMsVoFF6Pd2Z4l8e8tY-2b6b9qol4TcTWnq3kXaMK9BVNyXmmeJV-EXfqKptaschh7d473ip1taoKeRvod1Qj6_fZDY SATURDAY: MOTHERSMILC An experimental sound art, electronic performance duo based on the concept of motherhood, this collaboration is an expression of the dark formations, butterfy like emerging and intense beauty together experienced through friendship and sisterhood. With Hannah Houghton and Fern Oxley (Shenghi) whos live sets have seen her perform with artists such as Venetian snares and wowing audiences across clubs and festivals such as Burning man. HANAMI FAMILY English Cosmic psych folksters Hanami Family return with their second album ‘Lunar Ticks’ to go with the birth of their second child ‘ ….. The voices interweave effortlessly with the harmonies fused tightly from 12 years of travelling and playing around the world with a plethora of instruments from musical saws, 12 string guitars to singing bowls. Together Keeley and John have honed the art of writing a great song, however it’s the honesty and confidence that comes from writing music simply for the love of it that sets this record free. From bittersweet gentling sung playful melodies to trippy pounding feral psych folk reminiscent of early fairport covention, incredible string band and Captain Beefheart this record is a joy from start to finish. Mixed and masterded by Joel Magill ( Syd Arthur) and released by Smugglers Records UK and Celebration Days Records France on the 4th of May 2014 BOB MAYBE http://www.bobmaybe.com/ HAIR ISLAND Angular Instrumental post punk from Lancaster featuring ex members of Electric Free Time Machine and Dr Robotnik BEAR AROUND YOUR NECK “The Bear Around Your Neck is Nathaniel Scott, a Manchester based singer, reimagined as a two piece with Jay boy on drums. The Bear’s songs are lyrically potent and melodically conscious, with words sitting on fuzzy arrangements of finger picking through a distorted amplifier. Taking inspiration from rock, grunge, art rock, country, folk, and psychedelic music. This influence reveals a darker, hypnotic drone sound, lifted by spacey melody. NINOS BLUE SALOON Nino’s Blue Saloon are a Lancaster band whose music is deeply rooted in the various strands of Americana. Their music can be bright and engaging like a new-age take on 60s and 70s rock’n’roll, or it can sound dusky and mysterious like something you might hear in a saloon or driving down a dusty old highway in the middle of the night. BINGO HARRY After a solid run of well received gigs the wonderfully named Bingo Harry have written new material as well as two releases waiting in the wings. They perform astro pop coloured with iridescent vibration& their lyrical content is often on matters of soulfulness, the seasons of life and the humans within it. They work with original, unusual grooves and melodic shapes and sounds that conjure astral flights over Borneo AHRKH A P Macarte, is a Multi Instrumentalist Sound and Visual Artist, performing, recording and touring in various projects since 2003. MOLD MOLD IS AN ABSURDIST REACTION TO THE WORLD WE LIVE IN IN NATURE, IN YOUR KITCHEN, IN POLITICS, IN GUITAR MUSIC, MOLD ONLY GROWS WHEN THINGS ARE STALE AND START TO ROT 'MOLD are creating a post-chaotic mayhem on the fringes of Manchester’s burgeoning music scene with their unique style of stop-start, quick-slow, random-rock meets art-rock panic. There is nothing like them right now. Louder Than War. 'The musical equivalent of a fit of rage, seeing them live is like reverse anger management therapy.'
