Review of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2018
Would you recommended: Yes
Excellent event. Great atmosphere. Friendly
Poor show with the 3 day passes running out and people not getting access to the main stage
Brilliant festival and the youth are so friendly.
Simply the best every year just gets better and better 🤠
Feel let down this year by poor organisation and the amount of disgustingly drunk kids. Queue to get in on Thursday afternoon as 1 hour 20 minutes due ro running out of wristbands how is that even possible. Total mix up with tickets too. Bring back a reduced rate ticket for over 12s.
Would you recommended: No
Waited 3 hours in a queue to get in the gate (last year walked straight in) and queues to get from campsite to venue have been big so far. Again last year this wasnít the case. Also, despite arriving early afternoon, our pitch is at the farthest point from the car park, approx 25 min walk, where ch seems excessive, especially when carrying camping gear.
Great family event
Nothing to beat Bella !!! As always
Kathleen M MacDonald
Great festival, experience like no other I have been to. Really beautiful and magical.
Braw like lads
Family festival love it
Shame Garden stage was surrounded by hoardings making its natural beauty look like a building site.
Generators shouldnít needlessly be left on overnight especially in sleeping areas.
Toilets need to be more equally distributed.
This year was not the same, not as many toilets, vip area was awful, there wasnít even food anywhere close, not worth the money ,
Definitely a good kiddie friendly festival with much entertainment for kids, lots of it for free too, only pit fall I would say was that the main arena should have the back end locked to families only, especially later at night when the headliners are playing.
Fantastic, family friendly festival!
Iíve been attending belladrum since it first started & this is the first time Iíve seen a negative side. Far too many people this year, it used to be family friendly but not anymore. Long queues to get in, not enough staff, running out of wrist bands etc etc, I could go on and on. Really disappointed & hope the organisers take note of each and every complaint they get this year
A wonderful family friendly festival
Excellent show, great spot and great people. Well organised and run and have never seen any problems with anti social behaviour
A very good atmosphere. Booze ainít cheap but the craic is excellent.
Ran out of tickets wrist bands on way in and had to go stand in a different line for another hour.
Great atmosphere as always at Bella 😊
Great festival plenty of things to do and eat
A great way to enjoy family time with great music, great entertainment, great atmosphere, enjoy the outdoor life and being part of Belladrum.
Great value for money and well organised.
Thanks for a fantastic first Belladrum! See you next year :-)
There was a problem with lack of Main Stage bands for Thursday. Took 2 hours and 3 long queues to get one. Otherwise it's been great so far
Amazing as always
Mr Andrew Ritchie
Fab festival in the perfect setting ❤️❤️
Great family friendly festival with loads to keep both kids and adults(big kids) amused, excellent line up,music to keep everybody be happy!Good wide range selection of food that caters for even the fussiest of eaters! Good selection of beers and spirits! Great site layout, not too big but not too small! Will definitely be back again next year! If youíve not been then all I can say is why not? Top festival!
Too big,too crowded. very difficult for disabled people to get around . Although there are 'paths' they are littered with large stones., which makes pushing a wheelchair or driving a mobility scooter along them almost impossible. As the disabled parking area was full (on Friday) there must have been many people who had problems. Not enough disabled toilets &, as far as I could see, no disabled changing spaces.
Lots of drunken teenagers, but the atmosphere is generally friendly. The layout is very confusing. The (expensive) programme doesn't give any info on the bands, so it's a bit hit & miss on where to go (unless you only want the big names). Oh & the the larger sized t-shirts had already sold out on Thursday evening !!
Excellent highland friendly festival.
My first time at Belladrum and it was worth the travel from Birmingham. I picked up my nephew on the way through Stirling and he too has had a great time. Family friendly seen some fantastic acts. Xxx
Family fun, safe and well equipped. Wouldnít pay for club Clan Bella again-not worth it at all. That was the only down side.
Great event, venue and line-ups. Loads food to choose from. Only challenge - absolutely hammered drunk folks - hard for organisers to control but they do a fabulous job of trying their best.
Very good as usual fantastic friendly and fun!
Absolutely fantastic festival. So child friendly. Amazing variety of music and creative arts. Excellent food!
As alway a great family venue.
Fantastic! Really friendly, busy, no regrets about coming apart from not being able to see everything 🏴Ε 620;🏴& #917603;😁
As always a brilliantl chilled out vibe
Went years ago. So much improved and I thought it was great then! Friendly Flush, Big Derek and Wee Tam and the guys did an amazing job hour after hour, day after day. Totally brilliant experience. Thank you for wonderful memories Carol xx
Keep it social, keep it local, keep it Highland and keep the young new bands coming through. Keep innovating.
To much overhanded security.
Clearly destroys the integrity of freedom of festivals.
I hope you sort out the issue.
Fantastic family music festival. Something for everyone!
Charlotte Elizabeth May
It was fab, really enjoyed it & will definitely be back. Few downsides but nothing that has stopped the fantastic time weíve had.
Great event for adults and children. Amazing atmosphere
Not great for money paid.
Best festival ever. Well organised and good variety of music, activities and for all ages.
Superb! Line up excellent, something for everyone!! Very well organised festival!
Overall really good festival, this is my 14th year going. Security werenít the best between not allowing those already with wristbands to come through again with bags to save them checking them and instead make everyone go into one long line which we had already done once for the first lot of bags and for getting our wristbands initially. Apart from that music and entertainment overall was really good
Big family festival. VIP not worth the extra. I personally found far to much going on at the one time spread over a wide area so missed out on a lot of different bands. To many drunk teenagers for my liking also.
Belladrum is the best.
Great festival again
Awful experience here, got accused by the stewards of bad behaviour and noise in the camper van, the noise was originating from another caravan and the stewards tried to eject me without any proof of wrongdoing
First time at belladrum and I will never go back
Full of kids high of drugs
Fab. We shall be back next year😂
Absolutely love this festival,so much to do for all ages gets better every year
Thoroughly enjoyed the smaller stages - trailer trash, ice house, potting shed etc. Family friendly as usual but seemed to be a lot more people than normal.
Fabulous event, very family friendly. Very pricey once youíre through the gates!
Amazing event 😁
3.5 hour wait to get into the family campsite when on arrival they binned my salt shaker?? What they think a single mother with two kids is going to do with a salt shaker other than cook tasty? food beggers belief. 3.5 hours in the sun with no water or sun cream, no updates, no staff and no care. Once in and tent set up, going back to the car for the rest of my stuff (single mother did I mention?) entailed another 55 minute wait and another bag search to get into a campsite??? Goodbye perfume! Damn I thought I was going to assault someone with that bottle of CK1! The main enterance from drop off which we used on the last day took us straight through the alcoholic school trip gone wrong campsite, full of rubbish, naked teenagers and people being sick. Whose idea was that to put the entrance there?? Bad bad planning. Money money money grabbing with no thought or care for patrons.
Excellent festival and getting better every year more top acts please A+++
Toptastic weekend as usual. Looking forward to next year already
First time at Belladrum and had a fab time
Perfect family friendly festival in a perfect highland location. Beautiful venue, beautiful music, beautiful food, beautiful people. Beautiful teas and cake. X
Excellent event - saw lots of new bands but the pa for the garden stage wasnít great
overall good but there were some issues hearing some of the acts. Beautiful scenery and atmosphere was family oriented
Great family festival. Always good value, but the VIP area a huge let down. Not worth even half what we paid for it.
Security ruined the event. They were miserable, unfriendly, heavy handed. searched my 6 yr old without asking her first. I've been to Bella for many years but may change. Not a nice experience.
Sound was bad plus venue isn√ʬĬôt big enough for volume of people
Belladrum radio station required more bins in general or more of a clean up over the weekend in general.
great event! little annoying having to buy drink tokens to then go and wait in a second line to buy drink. other than that it was a great event √į¬ü¬ė¬Ā√į¬ü¬ė¬Ā
Brilliant music and venue. don't get any bigger. and get wrist bands sorted!√į¬ü¬ė¬Ā
queuing a problem for bar and toilets don't remember this being so bad on previous years
Only worth like √ā¬£20
Great friendly event, kids and familyís galore in a very chilled and relaxed festival.
Amazing event from start to finish
Fab event, fab acts and lovely atmosphere...
Down side, having to wait at gate for over half an hour as you'd run out of wrist bands 😯 for the second time that day! Unacceptable.
Toilet queues suggest you're needing to invest in more toilets.
Other than this had a ball and day made with seeing Colonel Mustard for the first time
given it's billed as a family event I was dismayed at the swearing on stage from bands like the DLC. unacceptable in the presence of children. making people and their young kids parking in day carpark walkthrough the catastrophe of general camping was shocking. from the rubbish to the drunken teenagers and their atrocious language and behaviour really isn't acceptable for young children. sort it OUT!! Otherwise festival was great and staff were perfect. thank you.
Really great time. becoming an annual event for us.
Brilliant roll on Bella 19
Elizabeth Mary Robb
A fantastic festival. The atmosphere was incredible, the line up awesome.
far too expensive and artists were second hand and not good at all apart from Primal Scream and Macfloyd, smell of dope every where so don't think I will b back next year.
Arts In Motion
Amazing family friendly festival! Met people ranging from 3weeks old to 92years!! Line up was incredible and food and drink reasonably priced. Hunter and the Bear for main stage next year!!!
Bella is now overrun with unruly youngsters who now camp in the family zone. Not going back.
Festival on the whole was good. the organisation of getting into the campsite was a shambles.
Best organisation for a festival I've seen. Great crowd of considerate people .
pro green should have been a headline act. without a doubt the highlight of the week.
Fantastic festival so much to see and do music and entertainment. Great location. Very friendly atmosphere. Love it.
good event a lot for Children to do
This was our first Bella and it definitely wonít be our last, see you all next year!
another fantastic year belladrum thankyou!!! see ya next year!!!
Once again we had an amazing time, everything was fantastic sadly the only one thing to spoil our weekend was that our tent was stolen. Saturday afternoon we arrived back in the camp sight to find just a space where it once had been and all our stuff was gone luckily we have a sense of humour and managed to enjoy the rest of the day just ment leaving on the Saturday evening rather than waiting until the sunday.x
Very disappointed with Club Clan Bella. It was too far away from the Garden Stage. We didn't use it as much due to one of our group having mobility issues. Water ran out in there, too. Lots of complaints from others.
However, this didn't detract from an otherwise great festival. We'll be back, just not bothering with CCB next time.
Such a great event can√ʬĬôt wait till next year
VERY VERY FRIENDLY WITH PLENTY FOR THE KIDS AND AWESOME MUSIC ON SOMEWHERE
event was good. Only ruined by anti social behaviour from some campers. ruined it for my daughter. They should have been moved to general camping.
Overall festival was good but I was very disappointed with the first night. Upon arrival, we queued for a long time to get in which is to be expected but to then be told that they had run out of 3 day wristbands so they would let me keep my printed confirmation and that there would be no issues. We then got into the venue and tried to go to the main arena to be told we werenít allowed. We then had to go queue again for 1 hour to get another pass. The security guards then started advising people to jump the queue at the front demonstrating the very poor organisation. Along with that the scanning machine broke for the ticket so we then had to wait a for a further 15 mins to fix this! Due to this I missed the fun loving criminals, the bad I actually bought the 3 day ticket for! I am very disappointed with this level of service and would rethink visiting Belladrum again.
Fantastic weekend of music and fun . Family friendly. Very well organised. Will be back 😎🎸
Fantastic!!! Best time ever!!!!
Great event again, roll on next year!
Amazing festival. You haven't been to one unless you've been here
My first time at Belladrum but certainly won√ʬĬôt be my last . Such an amazing venue and so different to other festivals that I have been too. There was something for everyone. What an amazing weekend.
my second year, fab, not a fan of any if headline acts but loved all the smaller lesser known (to me). the filthy tongues, carma, Barbarella Bang Bang.
We absolutely love Bella ! Great venue , excellent faciliities and such happy , friendly staff
Great family friendly venue. Hope to return in the near future.
very well organised.great artists.
Brilliant family friendly festival
The festival itself was superb. Family camping was a disgrace. Young groups of teenagers deciding to pitch tents to avoid police detection and spent the weekend snorting lines of **t, injecting heroin and smoking dope until 6am each day. Police came umpteen times but they returned!
Good event, spoiled by the really poor organisation of tickets and tokens. there were no 3 day wrist bands available when we arrived so we couldn't get in to see the band's on Thursday even though we had paid and had tickets. the queue for beer tokens was ridiculous and we had also pre purchased these to avoid the queue. really poor management and totally avoidable. won't be back.
Wonderful atmosphere from start to finish
Fantastic event. Well organised, you couldn't not enjoy it.
As always a great weekend in a family friendly festival enviromenrt . See you next year
Great little family festival.
great festval. line up poor compared with other years
My first festival at age 54. I will be back Bella
The only thing that spoiled it for me this year was having to climb steep paths to get from Pitch Village to the arena and climb steep metal steps to get back into Pitch Village.
amazing musicians, sound, performances, atmosphere, Brilliant services, everything about Belladrum is top class, massive well done and thanks to all the organisers xx
Compared with 2016 entry and bag check on Thursday too slow for volume of people in the heat many with young children. Even though arrived early queues continued all day. Also inconsistencies in lines caused tension - at one point bag check had three staff in one line and one guy doing a very thorough job in the other though much slower - needless to say we were in the slow lane !
Quite a few issues with sound and microphones on garden stage. On Friday and Saturday.
Friendly flush fine but not as spotless as 2016 though position in family camping much much better and shower queue on Saturday very quick and efficient.
For Saturday night headliners need an artist with universal appeal in my opinion so EVERYONE can sing along - the crowd were determined to enjoy themselves but Madness were far better in 2016.
However we had a great weekend, enjoyed hearing different bands and singers, trying different foods, going to different tents - musical theatre and greatest showman singalong - dressed up and took part in parade, 11 year old got to Ďtouchí Paloma as she walked along crowd at front and we enjoyed the energy of Lafontaines, Colonel Mustard and You Me at Six - even though we didnít know the words - and Festival far better value than Little Mix in Inverness last weekend.
And my husband might come again - so all good - though exit traffic not moved now for 45+ mins ......
Great friendly event for all.
Shame about the ques in and out of the festival.
Would be good not to spend 2 hours getting in to campsite on Thursday! Recycling facilities for all campers please √į¬ü¬ė¬Ä.
Generally great festival but food to expensive
we had a fantastic time good Craic only down side we needed more toilets.
Great place but expensive
Sadly the terrible queues on entry, ( 2-3hour wait)toilet queues inside festival and brutal wait trying to exit the car park has put us off returning. Festival itself was great but having young kids the waits were unacceptable.
A great family friendly event with something for everyone
Music, as we say every year is mixed. The headline acts do not build up to a big crescendo, look like they are there to take the money and go to the next one. Doesnít help with selling tickets but you need a big crowd participation act at the end to really finish the day on a high each time. This hasnít been achieved for years. Kaiser Chiefs were probably the only ones that did. A Torridon, Rhythm & Reel on the main stage at the end of the night would have everyone knowing they had been to a ceildh.
A great family event, brilliant set up, great atmosphere and good music!
Absolutely Fantastic, Loved every minute this was mine and my girls 1st time at Bella, We will BE BACK √ʬ̬§
Great weekend but arrived on Thursday night and told we would not be allowed into the main stage as they had run out of bracelets ask if we could get in with showing our full weekend tickets and told no. As I really wanted to see fun loving criminals and Amy McDonald was a bit disheartened and stayed in the campsite that night . I was not amused and thought that Skiddle should have had enough bracelets to cover the tickets that they had sold . There I would promote belladrum festival but would not recommend Skiddle as promoting agent. I think it was a bit of a con in that respect. Stephen Barrie.
the festival was very well laid out. plenty for all ages. very friendly atmosphere. I think a slightly bigger tent or area for dance music would be better. loved it. thanks √į¬ü¬ė¬ć
This year, I found Belladrum to not 'be as family friendly. The band's didn't care that they were on early and there was young children around, their language was terrible and I am no prude.
Getting in early was a nightmare, as the security people kept changing their minds on letting people through the baggage check lane, after getting wristbands and making them re-join the queue, till tempers overflowed. Later, they ran out of wristbands, not had that before, though, I believe, it was the busiest Thursday ever.
I personally felt most of the music catered for students, though Paloma Faith, Dangleberries and Colonel Mustard brilliant.
The facilities were great, especially cleanfields and would definitely use that one again. Sad to see no Happy camper stand again, sorely needs something lije this.
Lastly getting beer tokens was an absolute nightmare, chaos.
I have been for many years and would love to go back, but will think hard about next year
Great weekend well organised only thing I would ask to be different is to have the coop outside the venue so people can access easily in mornings
book early or miss out, especially if you are coming with a camper van or caravan
Best year 2018 √į¬ü¬ė¬ć

Best weekend ever
Great family festival, atmosphere is fantastic. Que to get into the campsite was a bit to long, could of been more staff doing bands.
Great place and great atmosphere - especially for children. Need to get better acts on Garden Stage....also - a wee bit disappointed that it was 'Bollywood' theme and they didn't have any Bollywood themed dancers and drummers going through the crowd throughout the day. Apart from that BRILLILLIANT as always - loved going around the other stages and seeing artist's that we had never heard of.....did the 3 days - great value for money
Ms Diane Fulton
thought it was great but spent 3 hours queing to get in enjoyed loads of different music and thought different stages were great. could have done with toilets in general camping site at the rear end
Another rip roaringly fantastic year, well done! I was there as a single mum (kind of) with two 20 something, 2 teenagers and me. At no point did I feel concern about the general welfare and safety of my crew and all of us found loads of new music and classic faves to enjoy. If you only go to 1 festival a year make it Belladrum and youíll not regret it.
Had an amazing weekend, very great venue, atmosphere was fantastic, friendly, prices were reasonable. Artists were superb. However entry gates need to be larger for that amount of people and quicker. Also leaving the car park was very poor and disorganised, slow moving traffic taking nearly two hours to exit. I would recommend this event to others but must up your game for entry and car park exits.
E. Ruth Von Holt
Food and drink prices were quite expensive but overall a brilliant weekend
Not as good a line up as previous years but a great atmosphere
brilliant weekend..great company..brill music and atmosophere..made all the better with the weather..√į¬ü¬ė¬é√į¬ü¬é¬∂√į¬ü¬ė¬é√į¬ü¬•¬ā√į¬ü¬é¬∂√ į¬ü¬é¬Č√į¬ü¬ė¬é√į¬ü¬ė¬é

Great weekend but sadly I must say it has been ruined by expanding so much my personal opinion is it was better in the beginning..... However met some fantastic folk as always and had an awesome time 😎
A great family weekend festival. Fab range of music and entertainment. Friendly and easy going atmosphere. Prices of the rides, bungy, dodgems etc are expensive for families.
Another brilliant Bella had! Entertainment was first class, however struggled to find many acts that I enjoyed, Torridon, Ho-ro and Hunter and the Bear were awesome!
We have just had the best weekend with family and friends at Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival. There was lots for all of us to do, and the atmosphere was amazing. The music acts were great, and the variety meant there was something for all of us. The toilets in the campsite were well lookedafter, well stocked with toilet roll and gel wash. The children loved the rave, drop and roll. The car park exit was much better organised this year than last. Thank you for a brilliant weekend - hopefully we will be back next year!
Yet another fantastic festival at Belladrum, everything from the stewards to the site and the ever dreaded festival toilets was first class! Even the notoriously changeable Scottish weather made an effort!
amazing weekend such a fab event!
Very brilliant festival I had a great time
As a local, I would consider that a small percentage (20%)reduction In ticket price would be appropriate ,based on evidence of postcode . There seems to be a number of free tickets being given to certain locals, and this seems extremely unfair as it is the same individuals that have access to these tickets each year, why? I would also advise that when getting bands fitted a large volume of individuals were stating that they were locals ,when they are not,in order to get in the local residents route(evidence of local status should be requested). I took my 2 grandchildren on Thurs/Friday , the rides are very overpriced . I appreciate that the operators are independent however again a reduction to be reimbursed by the festival owners should be negotiated at time of contract. Lastly I would suggest you make thurs/fri tickets available as not everyone, especially more elderly people do not want to go to the Saturday event.
Was only there on Saturday. Cleanest most organized event I've attended
This is a fabulous family festival wth music for all tastes and lots to keep kids amused.
Excellent event, first time at Belladrum and thoroughly enjoyed it. Downside leaving car park on Sunday. Also disappointed that Torridon not on main stage as could not get it tent to see them. Selection of food also excellent. Found toilets to be clean and despite the queues went down quickly. Plenty to keep kids organised too.
Rachel Lyn Muir
I had a fabulous time the only difficulty we had was access to cigarettes none on site. unfortunately this may have been something the venue thought appropriate however. people with access to their car keys and smokers without. it's not a good combination and negligent as we were not informed prior to arrival
So busy you can√ʬĬôt get near the acts you want to see. No longer a family friendly festival
drinks were way too expensive, food a little too expensive but venue great, atmosphere great, lower the pitch cost so the so the food and drink can be cheaper for next time please.
The Thursday and Friday line up was much better than Saturday.
Super setup this year, well done.y
Very good festival
Mr Ian Henderson
Another superb year! Went with friends and teenage children. The line-up was amazing, highlights were all the headliners, Hunter and the Bear, The Eskies, Colonel Mustard, You and me at Six. Great fun had by all at Tragedy metal tribute. Amazing atmosphere as always and looking forward to next year already.
Was really good, although food prices were too expensive.
Sound on main stage was not good, I think they were having technical difficulties.
We have to save harder every year to be able to come to Belladrum
only comment too many people using seats in main stage and using seats to keep best places and then no room when headliner's come on.
Had another great festival. Liked extras like gin palace. Would have liked all local breweries to be represented at Burke and Hare esp. Windswept brewing. Also tbh Black Isle beer wasnít great. Also how about reusable plastic cups for whole wend- pay a deposit for one at start. And better labelled bins for recycling cans and plastic bottles.
BAD:worst ever year to get into the festival, wasted half a day in Thursday due to overzealous bag searches with hardly any security staff in place to do it, couple trips to car meant hours of Qing. not enough Portaloos in camp sites & We're left to overflowing at some points. main stage microphones failed at 3 artists I saw. Bar Q was awful too.
GOOD: Atmosphere doing festival with friends, we go every year, just few changes this year that definitely didn't improve things
