Review of Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival 2017
8th year coming to belladrum and love it every year the venue gets bigger every year but the crowd size stays the same
Would you recommended: Yes
Excellent first night despite the rain!
Great friendly family atmosphere
Needing better headliners
Great wee festival where you usually catch some real gems. Great facilities and plenty of food outlets etc. Only thing to spoil it this year was the dreaded rain which no-one can do anything about 😀
Fun and creative festival with great music and friendly vibe.
Great festival been coming for seven years but probably won't be back as prices for food and drink have become ridiculous .
Great festival but need more paying showers at campervan area please as too far away
Brilliant festival with a range of music to fit all tastes. Amazing atmosphere. Amazing value for money when you consider the amount of bands playing. Gets bigger and better every year.
My fiancée and stayed for the 3days In a tent. Really friendly festival. Event staff doing a fantastic job(raining Friday). Still got otherwise having a brilliant few days.
Absolutely amazing experience!! My daughter gave me the tickets as an early birthday present (big 70th in October) I've always wanted to go to Belladrum and it has not disappointed......
Went glamping for the first time this year, very very disappointed in the facility, no staff on the glamping area, not enough showers, and some didn't work and were very dangerous as one of our party got scalded, toilets were really dirty and not cleaned regularly, no tea and coffee as promised and the beauty parlour was a joke for the amount of people glamping, the pitch village which was cheaper had a fantastic set up which was not fair considering the amount of money we spent on our lotus bell tent, will certainly not be glamping again if this is the norm, really feel that something should be done about this, ended up coming home a day early because of the issues!!! Come on Belladrum this is simply not good enough!!!
Very good. Quality food and great acts and stages too
SISTER SLEDGE WAS PHENOMENAL THEY ESPECIALLY CONNECTED WITH THE ENTIRE FAMILY AUDIENCE FABULOUS VENUE GREAT FOOD AT ARRAN STAND HASTE YE BACK ONE AND ALL
Zoe Hart Cruickshank
Honestly my favourite festival to go to in Scotland. Excellent atmosphere & something for everyone.
2nd year we have been and had a great time. Kids love it. Plenty for all ages. Can't wait till next year Definitely becoming s family tradition.
Excellent as per usual - pity about the weather on Friday. At least the remain stopped for the pretenders brilliant set.
Have been to Bella a few times, this year I was disappointed, main stage was good, but other stages was mostly cover bands, no great variety of music & lots of older bands doing covers , would of liked to see more young bands doing there own music & the venue lacked hip hop & rap music, walked round the diff tents a few times looking for something to listen too, but heard mostly covers , a disco could of played that,

AMAZING!! Friendly, joyful, family friendly, fun, diverse, chilled, exciting, beautiful, just wonderful!
Fantastic family friendly festival
Mr M Wiseman
The best festival in UK .........period.......

I have attended Bella every year apart from the first year. This was a good one. Not a C & W fan but love the new Saloon. The Ice house is probably my favourite venue. Col. mustard were up to scratch. Atomic Rooster and Chrissie Hynd despite their advancing years (C H is the same age as me)were brilliant. FF and KT were also brill. Would love if you could get Stagecoach to alter their route to go to Inverness via Kirkhill - this is not a big ask really. One year an obliging bus driver did take us via Kirkhill. This is a minor complaint. Verdict- a brilliant Bella
Nissan Qashqai YB13 XZE
My 13th year, first as a trader. Awesome as always, in spite of the unrelenting rain!
Fabulous event. Lovely chilled vibe - the way festivals should be. No hassle, no aggro, kid friendly. Loved it. Two minor things which would have made it better:
- relax the rules a bit about an adult having to escort under 18s in and out of arena. Our kids (12&13) are perfectly capable of walking to and from Motorhome. Older kids even more so. Once they have their wrist bands vouched for, at least let older kids come and go.
Second thing but not Bella's fault is only Vodaphone has coverage so spent a lot of time looking for each other. Maybe temp phone mast or wifi would help.
But they are not even negatives. Bella was great even in rain. Thanks for a fab safe time 😘 The Morrisons
Even better than I expected
Fabulous, friendly, fun festival in beautiful surroundings. Varied and of such quality....
Mrs C Overbury
Great festival, fantastic music, excellent food. Only criticism is that this year there were not enough toilets in the caravan and camper van field.
Bella, was great, however I don't think enough was done to make muddy areas easier to get around in. Woodchips were used, but very sparingly and the car park was scary to get out of. My daughter was upset that a few stalls seemed to be missing this year,, notably the crepe truck and the happy camper. I went in the clean fields area and it was a real winner, could do with a few more staff though, especially at night to walk around. The music was excellent and so glad there wasn't all the rap of last year. The Djon 5 were brilliant, as we're The headliners, Bird and Katie Tunstall. Will definitely be back again
Had a fabulous time, friendly, interesting and inspiring, met loads of friends, heard loads of great music, ate great food - pretty wonderful! Who cares about the rain and mud!
Family friendly venue, great atmosphere and amenities, already planning next year!
Great three days, highlights for me were Sister Sledge and Dancing with Sharks. Better signage and directions needed in yellow/green car park for exits!
We only did the Saturday but once again enjoyed it very much. Gave the music 5 for young fathers alone who were outstanding. Had 2 twelve year olds with us and it's safe with plenty to do.
Couldn't fault it 😎
i love Bella but just wish that they would have measures in place for when it rains so cars can get out
Great family festival. Would be better if WFI were available so that we could keep in touch with other family members
Brilliant festival. Good music, great venue, great vibe. Well organised and you always feel safe and it's always got a good atmosphere. Our only grumble is having to pay full price adults for over 12 years old. Makes it a very expensive weekend for a family. I think that age should be raised to at least 14 OR have a separate price for age 12 - 17. To say it's a family friendly event, this ticket system doesn't seem geared for families. We had a fantasitic time though, so better start saving for next year! :)
Very well run with spotless facilities. Excellent event staff who welcoming & extremely helpful. Came with a friend but would definitely bring my children sometime in the future.
1st time at Bella and it won't be the last looking forward to next year. Great bands and special thanks to security really nice guys and girls
Absolutely fantastic, we will definitely be going next year , SUPERB!!!!!!
Fantastic! Will definitely come next year!
What an amazing festival.. c u next year!!!
Another fantastic year. We have been at every Bella and hope to keep on going for at least another 14 years. The organisation gets better every year, and the fantastic variety of bands, musicians, artists and people of all sorts are such that no matter what the highland weather throws at us this weekend is still a highlight of our year.
some really good bands and some of the less know were really good as well, pity about the weather can`t do much about that, prices are probably about par with every other festival, plenty to do for folk with young children ,staff are really helpful
Another superb Belladrum. Great venue and great crowd. One of the best festivals on the planet. Not to be missed
My 1st time at belladrum, loved every minute of it, even in the rain. Everyone we met were lovely & it was great to see families out together having the best time. 😁💕 the acts you got this year were brilliant.
Great event again, so much to do and see. Bella staff worked very to cope with heavy rain.
Sister Sledge the best. Colonel Mustard great. Food good. Toilets - need even more in main arena area!!! Well organised. Great weekend.
Great festival. Music excellent. Weather didn't ruin it at all. Please move the flush friendly somewhere central - it makes no sense to market them to everyone when they are so far away from the stages and glamping.
Definitely More toilets required more evenly spaced about in the Campervan park for next year.
Black Isle brewery bar had been moved too far forward, it needs moved back 30ft where it was before so there's a larger drinking area out front of it.
All round great festival, well organised really good fun for everyone!
Wel done to all involved in making it another brilliant year at Bella!
Mrs Sheena Dinan
Muddy but venue were prepared for it.
Belladrum is the highlight of my year. I buy my ticket in advance and have bought 3 day tickets as presents for others over the years. This year was different. We left a day early.! Not because of the weather, but As there was a differerent atmosphere about it.
There was disorganisation in the bands and inaccurate info given out about groups and times. I.e. Jericho hill weren't even mentioned on the Lan yards.
Site map on lan yard needs improving next year and needs to feature where friendly flush loos are - prominently please.
Parking chaos. - Steward's were lovely but clearly communication was not effective among them. One couldn't tell us on Thursday night where the exit was (Family camping car park) and he was the only one there.
Smoking - huge increase in Smoking in the tents. We were at the front barrier at stage watching Heron Valley and 3 adults beside us smoking, beside us. Strange whiff - get the hint. Steward standing beside us on stage side - oblivious! Less than 3 ft from them. Other folks children on either side of them.
I 'm being honest. Still love Bella but hope you can improve on these important points.
Had a fab time at the festival despite a very dreary, wet Wednesday putting the tent up in the rain and nearly drowning in mud
The car parks are quite a walk from the camping not great with lots of gear, rain and mud but can't be helped. The Clean Fields camping was great and I was constantly impressed by the heroic toilet fairies keeping everything clean and stocked. Five stars for that.
The acts I saw were fabulous and in general the sound was good, especially on the main (garden) stage with the headliners. The lighting was great. My only gripe is that the one act I really wanted to see, Gallagher and Lyle, clashed with Franz Ferdinand who I also wanted to see (and who were brilliant). That's a personal problem bit the trouble is the two stages were so close and FF so loud that it was impossible to hear G and L at all and they seemed to be really struggling. You couldn't hear yourself think in there I felt really sorry for them and was so disappointed that I had to give up and go back to FF... The bully boys won.
A spot of bad scheduling methinks.
Just keeps getting better ❣
A great event, something for everyone, music, games and food.
Beautiful setting and great festival
My children have grown up with Bella as an annual highlight and this year did not disappoint! Yes it rained, yes there was mud but this was accompanied by great music, meeting up with friends, fine food, good laughs and memories that I treasure. Highlights for us included Twin Atlantic, KT Tunstall, Feeder, Young Fathers, pit lamb, haddock wraps, traditional music changes, kids stuff, random bands! Keep it up Bella, we will be back again and again and again!
Amazing festival as always.
Only minor complaint being the queue to get into the garden stage on Thurs night? No need... Easy and obvious solution - have 2 entry points...
far too noisy at night, and staff doing nothing to keep caravan site quiet at night. Electric hook-up far too expensive
First time to this festival and thoroughly enjoyed. A good range of stages showcasing a lot of different types of music. Very family friendly. A number of different camp sites to choose from to suit all the different campers. The port a loos were kept fully stocked and clean throughout the festival. The Thursday and Friday were much quieter than the Saturday, with there being very little to no queues for the toilets or bars. The headline acts were great, a really good variety.
Amazing weekend from start to finish first festival for myself my husband and 5 year old grandson 11th for our daughter . Best ever she says x
Had an absolute blast despite the rain and mud
Music great, lack of toilets in caravan park
Another amazing festival.. well done Belladrum.. did prefer last years location for VW campers but still had a great time...
The festival is great, this is our 5th year. Always friendly and lots of variety of stages. Only complaint was the glamping site. 5th year of glamping and it was the worst, Black Dog tipis did a poor service compared to previous years, especially lack of showers. 6 showers for the whole glamping site and some didn't work. It was disgraceful for the money. Cost more but got much less. They need to get back Jason and the Tipi Company.
Had the best time ever! First festival for me, thoroughly enjoyed it. Well organised and something for everyone.
Top event - suitable for families... the music is great but the people are what this event is all about! Most folk buy their tickets before knowing the line up! Amazing event - highly recommend and value for money
Had a fab weekend!!
Fantastic weekend at Belladrum. Music fantastic. Food good and reasonable prices. Only downside was state of car park. Although organisers cannot be held accountable for the weather, they should have done more in car park area (e.g. put down straw or woodchips) as it was a total quagmire with cars getting stuck.
This was my first Belladrum festival with my wife and children .my experience was not good .we stayed in the family area Thursday and packed up Friday afternoon and went home .we had a bunch of young kids staying in tents next to us playing music and pulling tents down at stupid o'clock in the morning.and abusing friends of ours .this event was meant to be family orientated .i will not be attending this event again considering the cost of our tickets we had missed 2 days.
Love Belladrum but feel it's getting too big. Too many people trying to get about with bottlenecks appearing. Also need more toilets, food stalls, bars if you are going to have so many people there. Still a great festival, love the Walled Garden but it's going to lose its magic if you keep increasing the number of people for the sake of a bigger profit.
Andrew Gordon Brockie
What a great festival! Very family friendly, great venue, so much fun. Will be back in 2018!
Loved the event but didn't like the event cards firstly the times was back to front! Where you had to pay £6 pounds and then a paper too but didn't buy this considering the price we are paying shouldn't this be free!
A FAB AND FRIENDLY FESTIVAL, LOVE IT
My 10th year at bella .. never lets you down fab chilled family festival
Mrs Lisa Curtis
This was our first time at Belladrum and we had an amazing time and will definitely be coming back. The only thing that would make it better would be to have more toilets.
First major music festival at age of 56 - brilliant! Very special.
What can I say? Excellent staff, security, music, stands, attractions and most of all venue. All were brilliant, even though I don't have kids I think it's great that this is a family friendly festival as there seems to be less problems. So thank you everyone involved and see you next year.
Absolutely fantastic setup and I would encourage anyone with kids to let them enjoy this experience. Thanks Bella
It was brilliant.
I did in joy my self but staff could be nicer and not so abrupt with everyone and staff should know we're everything is not clueless and more to do for less money.
Possibly the best festival in Scotland for families and for party goers alike. Always a great time and always leave wanting more
Amazing once again Bella 😍
Congratulations on another brilliant Belladrum! Even though we arrived at peak time on the Thursday, we had very little wait to gain access to the festival; a massive improvement in previous years, and much appreciated. I do think that the prices of bar tokens (and at the food stalls) rise each year more than inflation, which to my family (now having been there 9 consecutive years) is a bit galling. If there was one single thing I would want you to improve about Belladrum, that would be the 4 hour wait to queue in the car to leave the site - it's a bad end to an otherwise fab weekend.
Such a fantastic family friendly festival, we will be back next year!
An absolute joy of a festival, even in the rain..
When do the tickets go on sale for next year 😊
Absolutely the best, always leave wishing we made time to see more than we managed as choice of music great. The venue is magical and they make it just a fabulous atmosphere for all ages. Such a well run and organised festival.
Another fantastic festival at Belladrum with outstanding acts and the incomparable Colonel Mustard and the Dijon 5! Such a good range of stages, we were spoiled for choice yet again and a huge variety of food and shopping outlets.
The campsites are fab and the neig*bours so friendly. Security good and festival staff worked hard to make sure that the mud didn't get out of control. Friendly Flush were also more conveniently located this year, well laid out and the staff were great. Can't wait to go back next year.
Great festival experience, very clean and great atmosphere all round. Quality of bands was poor, too many novelty acts . Would definitely go back if the line up improved for next year.
Fantastic Festival, fall in love a little more every year...and if it's your first time, it won't be your last. Great facilities, lots of food choice, great for young and old and cleanest festival toilets anywhere. If you don't have a good time at this festival... Then stay home and take up knitting, as festivals are clearly not your bag! Something for everyone. highlights for me this year were The Pretenders, KT, Col Mustard and Dijon 5, Electric Swing Circus, McFleetwood, the Ice House Jazz and Blues Bar and the Wooded Dell. Thanks to all the organisers, see you next year x Joanna
Great weekend, well organised .
Absolutely brilliant every year, friendly well organised well staffed. Only complaint this year was that there wasn't enough toilets in the general camping site. We camped down to the right from the entrance but the only toilets were at the top of the hill, surely there could be some at the other end of the field?!
Everything was amazing ... Music, location, atmosphere. Food was incredible especially the seafood and the staff were all so fun
This was our first time to Belladrum.... and despite the rain on Friday it was absobloodlutely amazing. Such a fantastic venue, ALL the staff whether in the caravan/camper van site on the way into or in the arena itself were so friendly and helpful. We were there with our two children and we can honestly say their first festival experience was nothing but positive. We're home with new memories that will be with them and us forever. Sincere thanks to all involved..... your hard work is so very much appreciated by this family of four
The most beautiful coming together of like minded people. The best festival I have ever been to...and definitely attending next year. If you love music in a chilled safe atmosphere this is one of the best festivals to attend in Scotland
Awesome event with great headliners and loads to do. Every year the event gets a bit bigger with something for every taste. This year was the best yet, I actually felt sorry for Franz Ferdinand having to following the storming Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders but they rose to the challenge. Can't wait for the tickets to go on sale for next year. Well done
Fantastic festival would recommend title to every ages. Wish the friendly flush was nearer the centre tho. only used it once as it was too far away from the arena.
MRS EILEEN M RUSSEL
Brilliant time. Shame about the rain and MUD
The festival was excellent. Everything was top notch. Although I do have a couple of areas for improvement.
I felt some of the staff were quite rude, manners cost nothing.
On Sunday whilst leaving, I think they could allow more time, 12pm is way too early. This meant everyone was leaving enmasse which meant traffic was a nightmare. We waited for almost two hours before getting out of the first car park. The stewards were clueless and didn't have the experience to correctly filter all the vehicles out. There was no proper organisation. There were lots of angry people, horns tooting and some very fed up children.
Aside from that, I would come again.
Hasd a fantastic time at Belladrum as always. Well done to everyone involved in organising and running this event.
One thing I would like to mention in the hope that it won't be a problem again next year is the issuing of correct bands at the entrance gate.
I was with a friend and two girls aged 5 and 7 and we had a three day camping pass. We were unable to get in to see Torridon and Scooty both local bands we wanted to support as we were not given pink bands along with the normal band. At the security check going down to the Garden Stage another family told us the same thing had happened to them and they had to go all the way back to the entrance gate. Unfortunately for us with two young children by the tine we would have walked back to the gate and in again to the stage the two bands had finished. I hope you can understand our frustration and disappointment.
Great time at festival fun weekend
The festival was absolutely amazing. This was our first time at Belladrum, we all loved it. Our kids, 6 and 3 had an absolute blast and can't wait until next year. The only negative thing was that the family camping was not family friendly as we expected. There were groups of young people using fowl language all the time, drinking, singing and being noisy at all hours. And frankly were just very unpleasant. There was also a group of mature adults who were using fowl language at all time throughout the days and part tin gb until early hours every night again very unpleasant. We went with a group of experienced Belladrum goes and they too were disappointed with the lack of 'family' camping. Apart from that it was awesome. I would feel more relaxed going in the future if the camping arrangements were sorted out so family camping was a bit more separated. Out of interest how do such groups manage to get entry and access to pitch in the green/yellow area? Both groups also left a load of rubbish lying around when they left!
First time at Belladrum and it was great! Superb venue, friendly safe atmosphere with loads to do in between the music and ace bands
Brilliant fun , fab atmosphere, beautiful location x
Fantastic fun for the whole family young or old
Another fab festival
Had A fantastic weekend at Belladrum
First time at Bella and it was as amazing as everyone had told me! Great music acts; fantastic location, perfect size; excellent selection of food stalls etc; awesome campsite craic - everyone so friendly! Very well organised after the mud with woodchips/straw etc and even nice toilets... Perfect!! Already buzzin' for next year's :)
Magic, relaxed music festival, which managed to please kids and adults.
This was our first festival and we were dreading the toilets, but they were amazing.
Always clean with paper and hand sanitizer, better than many high street restaurants. How they managed this with so many people is really impressive.
Alasdair Iain Carmichael
Excellent venue with great mix of music and other attractions.
Very family friendly and something for everyone.
Cleanest toilets of any festival that I have ever been to and that started in 1970!
Overall and excellent festival, which is perfect for the whole family to attend. A few minor areas for improvement. The friendly flush loos are not great, to be honest some of portaloos where cleaner. I have been at festivals with "when Nature calls" providing the same service, but to a much higher standard! It might cost a little extra, but for those of us paying for this service we expect a bit more, we're prepared to pay for cleanliness and a little comfort. It would have been good to have a trade stand available selling kids ear defenders and some camping essentials. Last area for improvement would be the exit for the car park, surly there is a better, more coordinated way to clear the car park. It took us over 2 hours to get out of the green car park, with kids that sours the weekend a bit.
Festival very well organised even though there was heavy rain they coped well. My only complaint was that even although we spent £6 on the lanyard programme it did not tell us what was happening at the trailer trash stage. We would have liked more info on where and when things were happening before the event
My first Belladrum, I loved it. Huge thanks to security, police and welfare for keeping everyone safe in a quiet confident way. TH eco-op was brilliant! We were camping, is there any way there could be more bins, recycling and some way of encouraging people to leave their unwanted working camping goods somewhere ether they can go to charity or something?
Too much time spent queuing
Never fails to disappoint. Shame BBC Alba failed to pick up on the event of the weekend - Colonel Mustard at Garden Stage was the best performance in 9 years of going to Belladrum. Other highlights included William McCarthy, O'Connell & Love, Louis Berry, Indigo Velvet, First Aid Kit, The Pretenders and KT Tunstall. But the main highlight is the atmosphere, so it has to retain its small festival feel.
Our 13th year going fantastic atmosphere lots to see and do very friendly
Excellent weekend! Really fun and friendly weekend.
Downside - the price of bar tokens!
Fantastic festival with a great atmosphere and music for every taste. Didn't think the Thursday night upgrade was worthwhile as it became very apparent that security staff could not control the volume of people getting into the garden stage which ultimately lead to everyone getting in regardless. But a minor point compared to the well run, clean and entertaining festival. Well done Belladrum.
Mhairi McLellan McRae
Great event for all ages, such a variety of music genres! The introduction of the clean field campsite was great as was the change of location for the friendly flush loos! We attend as a group and come from all over to spend a great weekend. With so many of us and all the kids, it's so good to find somewhere where we can all find something to enjoy and make memories.
Simply the best... wonderful happy family atmosphere.. great organisation, and some of the best music and acts going. Verb Garden is particularly rich ground!
Fab fun just down the road!
Brilliant family event! Some noisy campers in family zone spoilt it more than the rain and mud! Can't wait to return!!
Awesome festival even when the weather turns for the worse. Loads of different things to see do and hear. Most relaxed but crazy environment ever. Beautiful surroundings. Great people. Great bands. Expect to pay festival prices
The best festival by far. Cant fault it. I was in cleanfields this year and it was fantastic. Great idea. Leave red to the young ones and green to the families. Perfectly organised. Even security are happy and cant help enough . you dont often get this. Well done to all the organisers
Always a great event. Love Bella and they add something new every year which keeps it all interesting. This year I thought the general cleanliness slipped a bit, some bins were overflowing and some toilets ran out of paper etc. The mud didn't help either but not much could be done with that - except maybe lay down extra straw or wood chippings at the worst affected areas. Just some minor points but would have made it better.
Fabbie as usual...one request...more seating would be good to chill inbetween sets!!! Its a long day if you aren't camping!!!
We took our 11yr old with us for the first time and he loved every minute of it,especially when he got to go on the wee Bella bar stage with our favourite Band The Dangleberries,Me and my partner have went to Belladrum for the past 7 or 8 years only last year we weren't quick enough getting a ticket, but was never missing another this year..the only thing we were very disappointed about was there was no cosy camper stall!! With all the rain we had to resort to getting a lift down to Inverness to go buy new one as there wasn't one there this year!!
Tip: don't buy friendly flush pass. Waste of money and does not include shower!!
One of my most favourite years despite the precipitation challenges on Friday. As always an eclectic mix of entertainment that catered for all tastes. Thought the headliners were great particularly Pretenders and Franz Ferdinand and some other stars with Colonel Mustard and Louis 'potty mouth' Berry stealing the show for me. Great acts in others tents including the Seedlings where I was blown away by 100 Fables who took me back to my youth with their 80-'s driven brilliance. Also picked up some great stuff at Verb Garden and Burke and Hare and was fortunate to be in presence of Hamish MacDonald who was fantastic whilst dealing with a stage invasion. Food fantastic particularly in the 'gourmet' area and a big shout out for Lamb and Fish Stacks which were superb and maybe some fine tuning to their serving process would make it faultless. Where else could you get a 24 hour cooked lamb, in the Bella ground, tagging followed by Victoria sponge. Trailer Trash stage was a great addition and added to the eclectic mix on offer. All in all another brilliant experience and will be back.
Mrs Helen Mackintosh
Overall excellent event. I think the family camping needs looked into though. Around us there was not many family's with kids. What was the rules for this?
Another great Bella - relaxed family atmosphere, great craic, great music...and the weather couldn't spoil it!
Excellent event a s always
Loved Belladrum this years apart from one tiny thing; there was nowhere to recycle in the camping areas so we had to take stuff home. It would be great if, as well as having a fab time, we could also feel a bit better about all the waste we're creating over the weekend,
A sincere thanks to william from ullapool who got us moving again after finding car had very flat battery on sunday. Knight of the road.(grass). 🍻 🍻
We had an awesome time special mention about the stewards in all areas so friendly helpful and respectful at all times even during all day Friday during torrential rain!! Thanks Bella awesome venue never fails to impress - ps loved the new area with the trailer trash lamb shank icehouse jazz music all of these were my fav this year xxx
Mrs Angela Matchett
Fantastic atmosphere, family orientated, fabulous fun !!!! ( more so if you dress up!)
Excellent Family event, good atmosphere , something for everyone, very well run
Brill as always.
We had a great time again at belladrum even the rain and mud didn't put off going to see the bands. Next time I would definitely cook at our tent some of the time even though there is a great range of food , to feed the 4 of us was coming in at around £100 per day! The toilets are kept really clean (even with the mud) however I was really disappointed in the toilets at the yellow/green entrance being removed by Friday this was one of the reasons we chose our pitch as it was close for the kids. I thought there were a lot more people in the age bracket of 17 - 20s this year could be down to T in the park not being on. Over all a great experience not as good as last year as there was evidence of drug use this year and would rethink going next year!
Would you recommended: ?
Great event. No complaints other than there could have been more showers as the amount there was inadequate for the people wanting to use them. Never spoiled the fest experience, will be back for sure.
We had a wonderful time at Bella, as always. Thank you so much to everyone who works so hard to stage the event. I have only a few minor constructive criticisms. The screens at the Garden Stage should work whenever someone is performing, not just when BBC Alba are filming. Friendly Flush was far too far from the arena this year. Signs in the tents asking people not to disrespect the performers by talking loudly over them would be a good idea. And charging a booking fee online for each individual strip of beer tokens is just a rip-off. But enough moaning. It's a really special event. All involved should be proud of themselves.
Great event. Some maps on site would help when you first arrive
belladrum is fantastic, well organised and a must to go to.
First ever festival and we all had a ball. Returning next year.
Another brilliant time had by all, even the rain and mud didn't dampen our spirits, the coop tent was a welcome addition, spent a good bit of time there, roll on next year.
Fab festival, big enough to enjoy anonymity and small enough to feel safe, love it!! Happily took my teenage daughter and let her enjoy her own time with no worries!! Brilliant line up, encompassing everything from local bands to international stars (young fathers were outstanding) brilliant
Great music festival - plenty of variety on the different stages; great feel; good crowd; nice food & drink selection; camping felt safe; and probably the cleanest toilets of any festival I've been too. Only negative was getting out of the car park (green/yellow) on the Sunday. Slow (over an hour) and slightly chaotic.
I enjoyed the festival but next time would book into clean fields as the amount of young ones, not all 18 I'm sure, all drinking and destroying their camping space made things a bit uncomfortable for an older age group. I think the festival should be 18 and over unless accompanied by an adult, which, although this was indicated, was definitely not upheld.
This was my first festival with my children & I was not disappointed ! We loved it. With it being our first time going to tartan heart most of the time was spent finding stages etc so next year it will be a lot more relaxing as my youngest is 3 yrs old. I did pay for friendly flush tickets but I have to say I was not overly impressed with the toilet facilities mainly the size of cubical which I found really small esp when I had to take my son with me. We loved the shower ! & it was great to be able to dry and straighten hair! So all in all we will definitely return next year although will try and get there earlier to get a closer camping spot haha..x I have to give the staff who cleaned the toilets a massive shout out they done an amazing job ! I have never been to a festival before where the toilets were kept so clean..very very impressed ! X
Our 2nd year at Belladrum, planning to make it a regular trip. Loved the festival again even though the weather wasn't perfect.
A special mention goes to the staff working at Belladrum, whether they were security, serving in the bars and food outlets or on Friendly Flush. Almost without exception they were helpful, cheerful and ready to do that little bit extra, which always make events like this that bit more special
See you next year.
Another excellent weekend although franz Ferdinand on the Saturday night was a disappointment for me, think sister sledge or many others would have been a better choice.
Good atmosphere. Prices are a bit high. Only complaint is that the family camping area is over run with drunk teenagers with no parent in sight.
Another cracking year at a beautiful festival.
Duncan George McCallum
Well organized and easy to work through
Not so sure about headline acts but Seedlings stage was great
Lack of info on the website prior to the event regards time and days for each act was enjoying as this made day planning difficult
Amazing weekend despite the weather. Well organised, friendly, beautiful surroundings and safe for kids. Already planning next year.
As usual, the atmosphere and staff were brilliant. The facilities were always clean and equipped with plenty toilet paper at all times. My only concern was that the car park was really muddy resulting in having to call my son to come with a landrover to tow me out. I feel that this situation could have been remedied by putting down straw or similar in the areas which were bound to become impassable. Apart from that, Belladrum was fantastic.
very friendly & clean festival .no wasted neds or really drunk people which was a real eyeopener, i will be back again .
First time going and I took my 8 year old son. Was absolutely brilliant. Will be back next year
Absolutely fab weekend as usual, muddy but great music, food, company and the venue is second to none, the Bella staff were very helpful and friendly, had a few blips with security for my son gaining access with his friends but once that was sorted it was fun all the way for all of us. Well done everyone concerned you did an amazing job.
The headline acts were poor but the smaller bands made up for it.
Amazing festival!! Myself and my friends had an absolute blast - not my usual type of music, but so much going on you couldn't fail to have a good time ---tasty food and nice drinks and the most beautiful setting ever - pity about the lashing rain on Friday, but we survived....Highlights would be Sister Sledge, Louis Berry, Young Fathers, Circus of Horrors, Reverend Obadiah Steppenwolfe and pretend Kenny Rogers joining pretend Dolly Parton on stage. Suggestions would be: more toilets near the Garden Stage and also perhaps one or two pick ups at the Glamping campsite --- not everyone drove there and taxis wouldn't come to pick folk up there so it was a bit of a trudge to get to the bus and taxi stance ---we were helped by the lovely steward Naheem tho, so that did help --- will definitely be back again, Belladrum!!

Brilliant as always
The food prices keep going up and the quality and size of portions down?!
Getting out of the car park took 2 hours!! the staff need to be on hand to help people exit as they do coming in!
Still a great event but will bring my own food from now on!
Had a fab time, some great bands and entertainment.
See you next year 💖
Yet another fantastic festival good music good atmosphere with great friends... a great weekend
Really good event. Range of music was excellent - hardly went to the main stage because there was so much interesting stuff elsewhere. Camping was good, even with the wet weather. Good work by site staff to keep things from getting too muddy. And clean toilets all weekend!
Brilliant festival - friendly, happy and loads of fun!
Despite the rain on Friday, Belladrum remains a special festival - it does have a tartan heart that welcomes people of all ages from many differenr places both on and off stage. The VERB GARDEN centres on words and here you find a very different take on Belladrum - Bella Soup Crowdfunding competition won funding for Day One, a mentoring scheme that has proved so successful at helping youngsters find their way forward, before they potentially waste their lives and get into trouble. The whole Child Friendly area at Bella is great - they can even have a go at learning a musical instrument, or have a go on the beautiful merry go round if they are tall enough. Lots of different kinds of food on offer, yummy strawberries and cream included! There are lots of toilets around the site, and a real attempt is made to keep them cleaned regularly. Best of all of course are the majestic terraced gardens that are transformed into the Main Stage - surely a unique performance area even for the big names that appear here!
First time here, won't be our last! Friendly, family atmosphere, highly recommend!
Great family friendly festival
Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful!
Brilliant as always, only downside was no toilets down at the Garden Stage, I know space is limited but with 2 young children it takes a while walking through the crowd up to the toilets and then back down, missing out on some great music 😎
Fabulous time once again, Bella keeps getting better and better! Even the rain couldn't dampen our spirits. Really enjoy discovering hidden gems of bands & singers throughout the various stages. Temple of Dub was an awesome addition! Looking forward to next year! Red Ruth
amazing family festival cant wait for next years already
Mrs Amanda MacDougall
Best year yet!
As good as ever - only downside would be that more and more chavs are appearing.
Amazing festival, right from the start in the car park to actually getting inside. Can't fault anything apart from the distaster of trying to get out afterwards, the poor stewards struggled to get everyone in the car park under control and in one queue, think more stewards should be placed in the car park after the festival ends on the Sunday! Other than that it' was a perfect family friendly festival and we will be back again next year!!
Had a great weekend and will sure be back in the coming years. Wide selection of performers and a large selection of food and Drinks available.
To many kids under 18 out their heads on drugs n drink . poor this year
Fantastic as always, 12th time in a row, wouldn't miss it!
James Allan Cull
That was are first time at belladrum and we had an amazing time. So child friendly my 2 kids loved it. Will be back next year for sure.
Everything was great, as usual. My only criticism was the scheduling on Saturday night, which had Gallagher and Lyle really struggling to make themselves heard above Franz Ferdinand on the main stage. It just didn't work having an acoustic act on at the same time.
Fantastic family friendly festival. So much to keep the kids occupied. Safe , Clean and friendly. Would highly recommend it to anyone with or without kids.
Great festival - 3rd time and best yet :) Loved VW Section for our campervan
Not enough straw for mud but still wonderful
Had a really great time at Bella. Our first visit but definitely not our last. Loved the atmosphere and the HUGE range of ages from tiny tiny babies to old geezers with "bunnets ". Everyone was very chilled and the staff were excellent- very helpful and knowledgeable. Thanks for a great festival 😍😍😍
Excellent festival, our first time here with two kids (5 and 10) Lots of things for kids to do
My only complaint was the car park, we were weekend ticket holders but staying off site and on the Friday night we (and a lot of others) were stuck in mud trying to leave. The car park attendants were nowhere to be seen, eventually a police officer opened a different gate to let us leave. Better planning of the car park layout on the Saturday allowed us to leave easily.
I found the food, merchandise, and rides for the kids pretty reasonable for a festival. The Co-op pop up shop was great, would be better even bigger.
Great crowd and atmosphere.
Showing the portaloos on the map would have been handy, although you get to know the layout quite quickly.
Overall a great few days :)
Moya Jane Kennovin
Fantastic range of bands, well organised, only improvement I'd like to see would be option to pay for posh loos that would be located in central location not just in family camping area.
Best. Weekend. Ever. (Plus the cleanest toilets I've seen at a festival)
Event fantastic. My first festival, pity about fridays weather. I was delighted with the service skiddle gave us as i had bought tickets then had to re-sell them as we then were working at belladrum. The only annoying thing was traipsing about on thursday trying to get our friendly flush wristband as various staff told us conflicting information. When we eventually got them there were only a few left, so dont know how people got on, on friday.
As much about the people as the music - the friendliest bunch of folk enjoying the craic and the widest spectrum of entertainment in the most beautiful of surroundings - the feel good highlight of our summer for the last eight years - never a let down
Yet another brilliant year. Great music, great selection of food and drinks, well maintained toilets and great atmosphere.
My 3rd visit to this fantastic festival. Great music, amazing magical venue and completely family friendly. Kids loved it even us big ones. Atmosphere is brilliant, was a truly muddy adventure this time. Food and drink prices high but not to be unexpected. We hired tents again and well worth the money......just remember 'glamping ' offers hot showers, fresh portaloo's and as much tea/coffee/ hot choc, much needed as pretty damp and cold at night this year, just remember the best glamping cant offer who will be beside you (pretty noisy and snoring neig*bours this year argh). Overall it is amazing festival, come prepared for all weathers and the midges and you will come back again. Know I will be!!!! Roll on next years line up!
I've been to a few different music festivals and this is at the top beside wickerman, it was a great atmosphere, chilled, fun for everyone, no idiots that I saw, everyone having fun 👍😁
excellent entertainment for adults and kids
Go every year
Overall pretty good. But lots not to like. Too many Bands/artist of note were on at same time at different stages. There was only one bar of any size. Lesser known flat lager was main staple. Campsite was a rubbish dump, created by those happy to sit in it of course. Stagecoach service was good. Back to Inverness for a decent meal and a pint of something you had heard of. The music and the friendly people swung it. Rain and crap beer was bearable as a result. Friday better for atmosphere, Saturday for music.
Loved the festival, great music and super venue!
Belladrum, you were as ever awesome again year. Too many older teenagers camping in green campsite, no bins anywhere by the toilets to put used hand towels in? And a lack of bins around site meaning festival was quite dirty this year.
Bands were awesome, a lack of diddly dee though! Missed the Celtic vibes that have been present in years before.
Toilets were kept clean as always! Whole event is just awesome! People are so friendly and atmosphere great apart from the usual drunks stumbling around swearing JD causing trouble. I saw my 1 st fight at Bella this year- made me feel sad. And my 14 year old son nearly got caught in it. Food stalls were the best yet this year! We missed crepes! We missed zip wire! Prices for food were great! Tomatin whisky bar great as always, just wish the prices of the festival as a whole where a little less. For a family of 4, we spent a lot of money! Travelled from South Wales - 3 red year for us! And felt something's were missing this year. But we will be back! It's our most favourite time of year! Xxx well done Bella team! We love you for giving us this experience! ❤❤❤
Brilliant small festival with plenty of variety & diversity. Both in audience & entertainment choice
This is my 6th Belladrum and as always a fantastic family friendly weekend. I was impressed how well they coped with the rain fall lots of bark chips put down in the worst places. Love the new country and western Saloon bar (even better part was under cover) the lamb and fish vans beside were fantastic new additions. All toilets I went into were fine, good to see lots of showers in the campsites. We decided not to camp this year and got taxi's in and out. Good drop off and pick up point for taxi's meant no wait at all. Only minor point (can you cut the tops of the trees in the walled garden) we always sit on the hill as its good for the kids, but we can't see the stage for the trees!) But no problems with the sound. Every intention of coming back again next year its a permanent part of our calendar.
One thought ever considered an area where we could pay for a 7x7 area to pitch our tent and have the car close by or on the pitch like non festival campsites, with the possibility of electrical hook up? We would probably got for it. Could be an option in the Glamping area or next to the VW campervan area. Don't change too much think this was one of my favourite years despite the rain!
Thanks for a great weekend
Continues to be an excellent event with a diverse playlist and still family friendly. My only complaint is against the selfish tossers who climb onto friends shoulders to watch a gig, effectively blocking other peoples view.
Would definitely go again, very easy to get around. Loved the atmosphere. A very adequate amount of patrolling police/ camp assistants at all times. Well run festival.
Very good experience!
Clean fields campsite superb, missed the vip area this year, good mix of music, slow exit on sunday morning, roll on next year!
Bit concerned at the lack of bag searches, or maybe I didn't look dodgy! It's a fine line! No breathalyser on way out was also a worry. I appreciate it was muddy, slippy etc, but the middle steps down to the main stage really need sorted. Some boards were not only muddy but rotten too. We sat on the slope and the number of people that slipped and fell, young and old was really worrying and none of the security seemed to be able to help, as they were more concerned with directing folk. It could have been much worse but I am sure there are a lot of people feeling the pain still. Shame about the congestion on the way out but still a great time was had by all.
Come on Bella, you can do better than this, very difficult to get water in caravan area due to poor pressure.not enough marshals directing traffic on entry resulting in a total free for all.looked badly understaffed .expensive friendly flush never used due to staff not knowing where it was ,found it on way out.ludicrous location up your game Bella your the best in the uk but looks like you are taking us for granted.
Fantastic event. Really well organised, every steward we spoke to was friendly and helpful. The site was well maintained, including the toilets.....even after 3 days.
Great Festival. Something for everyone off all ages. Great line up and range of music for all tastes.
My first Festival and I am definitely doing Belladrum again. Great value for money.
Great weekend of music and entertainment, group of 6 with 4 teens and everyone had a ball! Something for everyone. Only negative would be when exiting the venue, you expect delays, everyone keen to get on the road but it took a while for someone to take control and get things moving. We were practically at a standstill in the first car park for an hour moving two car lengths in that time, not great when we'd left in the morning before the big rush. However, even that didn't take away from the fact we'd all had a great weekend, fab music, great comedy, good food and company along with muddy boots, happy days ;-) ps Sister Sledge were just amazing!!
Mr James Adam
Favourite family festival. Belladrum delivered the best weekend in the mud of the Highlands after the wettest Friday yet!
Belladrum is great Good for kids, great for young guns, great for 'grown ups' and great for oldies. Fantastic all round experience. A music lovers heaven; wide spectrum of tastes with great acts - there where so many unexpected pleasures. Th ability to wander round and just sample lots of different styles and levels, in imaginative settings, made it a weekend to remember. Will definitely be back, again.
How this festival improves year on year is beyond me! Maybe it was the theme of Peace and Love! The Greenfields camping was perfect. Every single person there was friendly and I knew my 14 year old daughter was safe to go wander with her friend. Then, the music!! Blown away this year. Cannot wait for 2018 , the countdown is on.
Great fun, always a great event
A very family friendly festival- great size and lovely atmosphere. There were a few niggles which were a bit negative- Some of the staff didn't seem very clued up on what they were doing especially with wristbands- we had to trail all the way back to get a 3 day band for our daughter as we were turned away at the arena when we had been told at the gate we didn't need one when we first arrived.
The child's fabric festival wristbands did not have anything to stop them being tightened too tight- we had to get our girls cut off as it was far too tight as sss the case with other kids bands in our group.
The toilets were in as good as condition as they could be, in fact cleaner than expected.
We got friendly flush too but I think it was too expensive and wouldn't do it again.
The campsite was great.
The kids rides were too expensive especially the Helter skelter.
I'd definitely recommend this festival for anyone but especially for families. Our kids loved it.
Beer tokens were expensive but it's typical of festival prices.
Another fantastically well run Bella. Shame about the chaos of the exit. Steward competition had a great effect on everyone. Thanks to the firstaiders too.
Great weekend again, even in the mud. More hay bales to sit on would be good near the bars and food areas.
Well done team Belladrum, the weather tried but couldn't dampen the spirit or the atmosphere.Fantastic from start to finish, eclectic mix of music and performance. My pick of the weekend were a band on the Bella bar stage called Bad Jeff they were outstanding.
Fantastic venue and very well organised.
Only 2 downsides, I wish I didn't pay for the posh toilets, I wasn't advised they were being moved from last year and moved and were so far away to use them.
My car was damaged in the car park
Ben Samuel Gibbons
Fantastic event, very well organised and safe for our 10 year old daughter. The stewards were second to none and we will definitely do it again.
