Hay Festival Winter Weekend (22-25 November) brings writers and readers together at the turn of the season for conversation, debate, music and comedy, in the heart of Hay on Wye. Blending politics and global affairs with the finest fiction, nature writing, comedy, music and workshops for all ages, the festival offers four days of family fun within the stunning surrounds of the town’s independent bookshops, cafés and markets, and the Brecon Beacons National Park. Appearances from: campaigners Ziauddin Yousafzai and Gina Miller, writers Rose Tremain, Horatio Clare and Jeanette Winterson; space scientist Maggie Aderin-Pocock; broadcaster Kate Humble; “Queen of Shops” Mary Portas; journalists James O’Brien, Oliver Bullough, and Mark Urban; bestselling historians Helen Parr, Andrew Roberts, Tracy Borman, Andrew Green and Simon Jenkins; performers Marcus Brigstocke, Gwyenth Glyn, Mid-Wales Opera, and Fiona Evans and choir; alongside workshops and woodland walks.
