Oktoberfest returns to Gadebridge Park for another weekend of Bavarian tradition on Friday 5th & Saturday 6th October 2018!
Review of Oktoberfest Hemel Hempstead
Great fun!!! The beer was a bit pricey but the experience overall was a great night out!
Would you recommended: Yes
Not really sure what our ticket was actually for.
30 pound for 1 massive tent filled with benches.
The bar was appalling, 2 beers that were god awful and none of the bar staff had a clue what they were doing. I'm almost convinced they were pulled from the street 10 minutes before. Oktoberfest is a beer festival and to only have 2 s**te beers on offer was disgraceful. We arrived at 18.00 and left by 21.00 and went to the local pub which had a way better atmosphere and the booze was good! Don't waste your money on this pish.
Would you recommended: No
Nothing like the Munich Oktoberfest, overpriced food and beer, small not enough beer choice (2), licence to print money for the organisers. Won't be doing again.
Had a excellent night
Dr Ross Le Bas
Rice and alcohol prices stupidly expensive...no tonic...£10 for double gin...serious
Great night out. Bring good outdoor shoes if itís wet. Toilets were abysmal with no lights so have your phone ready!
Great atmosphere with good music. Itís crammed so be ready to get jostled about a bit. Good drinks! Strange that bottles of wine cost double that of buying by the glass!
Could do with more food stations but had a really great night.
Miss Natasha Joiner
Absolutely brilliant night 🍺🍺🍺
Fun filled night
Amazing atmosphere and great music plenty of places to sit but I have to say your food selection was not authentic and no choice for an all day event
Night was shocking, tables set up so badly in the tnt and not enough staff on the bar so waited 2 hours to get drinks! Left early, wonít be coming back!
We had a fantastic night
Had a fab night. 10 of us altogether.
Laughed a lot and drank to much lol
After an hour waiting to be served we was told there was no beer or cider left... (at a beer festival) then we was told again that there was problem and it wouldnít take long to fix.. another 20 minutes later we was served and got given the wrong drinks... then after queuing to get a replacement drink the member of staff Ďforgotí by then the bar was s**t. badly organised and hardly no staff behind the bar. Surely you knew how many tickets were sold so youíd get enough staff to run the bar. Wouldnít recommend.
when you run out of beer before 10pm and charge the prices you did is not a good sign
Ran out of beer! Bar shut at 10! Was a waste of money !!
Poppy Chilcott Stephens
RAN OUT OF BEER AN HOUR IN, AWFUL
Let's put it this way, want be going back next year or anytime soon
Jason P Leek
Unlike last year terrible service, no table service , 2 beers in 2 hours at bar it was so bad.
Then bar closed early at 22:00.
Was supposed to be octoberfest!!!
S**t as they ran out of beer at 9pm
Liam George Wright
Bar closed before event ended due to lack of beer!
Very good event with regards to the venue and atmosphere, however we was disappointed with the quality of the beers available.
Aires Dr Freitas
ran out of beer.....it's a beer festival
can't believe they ran out of beer, at a beer festival, at 10pm. Asolute joke. loved it last year. Won't go next
s**t. run out of beer!
the Watford Oktoberfest last year was fantastic. this was a total disappointment
Too much disco, not enough oom pah. Female staff outfits looked really cheap, nasty and tarty ( I wouldnt call them dirndles) and where was the lederhosen for the boys? . Food choice not brilliant and not very good value, bratwurst ok but onions undercooked, curry sauce still had the seal on tbe bottle which we had to remove before we could use it. Thsnks for the tickets, but Im not sure I would want to go again. Not German enough! There's room for improvement. And I appreciate theres lots of overheads, but having now been, I am unlikely to pay √ā¬£22 entry for what was effectively a disco with steins.
Has great 2 days , looking forward to next year x
went Friday night and had a v.i.p table Saturday afternoon and had a brilliant time the dj and entertainment were brilliant
The venue and setup was very good but we left early because the bar was way under staffed
Waiting 30min to be served
Great atmosphere, but they couldn√ʬĬôt handle the volume at the bar, 30 minute queue to get served, then they shut the bar at 10pm because they ran out of gas, this killed the evening, but of a disgrace to pay √ā¬£25 to get into a tent to queue for drinks and it then shut early - shame really as it could√ʬĬôve been brilliant
I was under the impression it was more German music orientated. with fun games etc.it was just another drink up with a band.i went because I thought the novelty of it would be different.but wouldn't go again unless it was more traditional and involving the audience.
not a patch on previous year. running out of beer by 10pm with queues at bar of over an hour long. awful.
You charged a £5 deposit per glass and the bar staff didnít give me any form of receipt for this because so when I went to hand them back later, i couldnít get my £15 refunded so am now out of pocket. The bar staff had no idea what they were doing generally, the queue for the bar was ridiculous at all times and they ran out of beer by 10pm...at a beer festival.
Took over an hour to get served at the bar
Great night. There was a problem at the bar which meant service was slow but still a good night.
It was a great afternoon and I would definitely go again.
Not as good as last year.... bar a lot smaller & not managed as well ... didn't have to que last year for sure.. prices a rip off £29 for a bottle of rose wine (grrrr)... bar staff seamed not to have a clue on who was next in line or on prices etc etc , missed the oompah band for waiting so long (great) .... lay out of seats was cramped.... couldnt stand & enjoy for being knocked by passer bys & the reserved seating had rope matting last year too not mud grass , in the end left early doors .... be thinking twice if it's on next year.... shame as our group really enjoyed it last year. ...
queues at the bar we're horrendous and they ran out of beer. It was much better organised last year. We won't go again next year.
Had a great time and would definitely go again but the beer ran out at 10 which was a shame. The music was great and the atmosphere was fun.
Went to the same event in previous years and it was fantastic! This year it fell way short of the mark! The queues for the bar were absolutely absurd, literally spent an hour in the queue if you wanted a drink. Needed multiple bars at different ends of the tent to at least help disperse the crowd a bit.
The drinks were pretty poor, ordered gin and tonic for my wife and was give a lemonade with next to no gin in it... Not cool when it costs a fiver for a drink.
Beer wasnt great, could see they were having problems with the refill machine as the bar staff were getting frustrated .
Refunds on the steins, while a good concept it didnt work. Bought 8 drinks in steins (forty pound in 'deposits'), at the end of the evening when i go to get my money back they ask where my raffle ticket is... Which i was never given.... So then had to try and argue the toss to get my money back as someone wasnt doing their job properly... Pretty poor. Think i will give it a miss next year!
Compared to last year: less food options, less beer, less fun. They closed the bar an hour early as they could no longer supply beer. It was taking 30 minutes to get a drink so by the time they warned of the early closure, if you werenít in the queue then youíd already had youíre last drink! Bit of a shambles.
Pretty poor event really. A shame as the nuts and bolts were there but the organisers failed to grasp that people expect to be able to get a beer at an Oktoberfest bash. No table service and 40+ mins queues at the bar. 4 hours, 3 beers. Started to get a bit of aggro towards the end as punters were upset. Oh, and the food offering was a sausage grill and a pork bun van. The organisers should be ashamed of using the Oktoberfest name. oom-pah band were good but did their 2nd set after the bar had closed, which was weird.
the atmosphere was good but venue was terrible and overpriced. also absolutely freezing which spoilt it. organisers could of put heaters to warm the event up but they didnt so quite a few people left.
Bar was a joke 45min wait for a beer and they kept running out.
Last year was loads better. No one in my group would be going again. Massive letdown.
Work so well the year befor should have kept the same format
Michele Dickinson Taylor
Loved it wanted to stay for the evening as well xx
Need more bar staff - and a better service.
A really fun afternoon with great entertainment and friendly atmosphere. Good value for me as I got free tickets but thought it would have been expensive at full price as there are no drinks included in the ticket price.
Awful event compared to the previous one in 2017. Set up was way more basic than previous year and gloriously understaffed which meant that I spent about an hour queuing for beers in a 5 hour event. The beer machine also broke which didnít help things.
After being so good last year I was incredibly disappointed.
The queue at the bar was ridiculous but otherwise it was a great night.
not enough bar staff .after queing for 30 mins they ran out of beer .then they did not want to refund your deposits on the glasses total rip off
I would definitely attend this event again as felt is was great fun. The event and atmosphere was awesome! The Oompa band was the hit of the night, they really engaged with the people and had a good mix of local and German/Bavarian music. The DJ at the event was a little lacking as he didn't really know how to interact with the spectators and the music he played the entire night was throwbacks to the 70's and 80's. It was really expensive, especially the food. The food was lacking and not authentic at all, not even one authentic option. Bratwurst that you can buy at your local Aldi is not authentic German or Bavarian. £6.50 for a Bratwurst and £3.50 for a small bowl of fries is a littel over the top.
A lot of fun and well organised
Such a shame as it was a great event last year! But this time there was no table service, around a 1 hour wait at the bar, not all the beers were available. Wonít go again next year.
it was good until they ran out of beer or the pumps broke, whatever it was there was no communication of it and very poorly managed. It wasn't as good as last year by a country mile.
Bar was a disaster. Queues were ridiculous it took at least half an hour to a drink. Bar ran out of beef and cider well before it was over.
Ran out of beer at 9:00. Not very authentic in decor and seating was very packed in. For the the we were there the music was good.
Good Friday night out
A really good day with a great atmosphere, really enjoyed myself😊
Better last year! Probably wonít go next year.
Last year I paid more for a table and got table service. This year I paid more for a table and had to queue up at the bar for 30 mins each time!!! Ridiculous.
You need more staff.
I tried to get a refund at the end I was that disappointed
went last year and it looks like they have spent less money this time round, smaller tent/venue less eateries, smaller bar, less toilets. Also to close the bar at 10pm is unacceptable when people have paid for the event, staff where unhelpful and rude and also the lack of them!! will not be returning!!
I went last year and it was amazing
This year was a small tent the bar was smaller the food stalls were smaller
Music was amazing but queuing for beers 45 minutes to an hour everyone is not the one.
I'm so upset very upset!!!!! I

A beer festival where you pay £20 to attend a 6pm - 11pm session but they have no entry/exit queuing system at the bar. By 9pm the bar which doubled as the limited standing section was so rammed we queued for 45 mins only to be told the bar was shutting early as it had run out of drink!!!
Absolute shambles and wonít be wasting any money or time on this if it goes ahead again next year!
Very poor this year compared to last year, it was cold and we had to wait an hour to be severed which when we finally was served the bar ran out of cider and the one machine that was dispensing beer stopped working. Everything apart from the music appeared to be organised on a cheap budget! definitely not worth the price we paid for our ticket.

Good event however queues for bar were too long. A half hour wait. Left early as they ran out of beer at 10pm
It is too dear when you consider how poorly organised the event seemed to be. Shutting the bar an hour early, far too few bar staff.... at a beer festival. Unacceptable. Waiting 30 minutes to get served is just awful when you have paid for entry. Massively disappointed.
The venue felt over crowded and they run out of beer before the end of it. Not good for Octoberfest! Toilet got in to a very nasty state. We left an hour early due to the lack of beer! Disappointed as last year was far more superior!
Tickets were pricey, they ran out of beer, did not communicate well with the guests and violence broke out.
If refunds are available Iíd like to be considered. We did not get value for money and were forced to leave early.
There was not a big enough bar and not enough staff. I queued for 45 mins to get a beer! We paid for seats and shouldnít have bothered as everyone could get into the seated area anyway!
Just a glorified piss up in a tent. Choice of only 2 beers?? Which then ran out by 9.30! Urinals overflowing by 9pm. Over priced. Paid £20 a ticket for the privilege of sitting in a cold tent drinking lager out of a plastic tankard. Oh and if you wanted food then you best like hotdogs as that was about all they had.
I won't recommend it to anybody, in fact quite the opposite.
First time we have attended this event. Beer dispensing machine was broken and took over an hour to get a drink. By 10pm they had run out of beer completely and the bar was closing!
The best thing about the evening (Saturday) was the atmosphere created by the festival goers themselves...the negatives were poor quality, weak lager (especially considering the prices); lack of bar staff resulting in 5 deep queues/20 minute wait; £5 deposit on the glasses which you could only redeem if you stayed to end; only 2 food stalls selling identical food offerings; and the mediocre party DJ insisting on playing non-stop medley mixes rather than complete songs...all in all not really worth the £22 entry fee!
The beer machine broke and then ran out. There wasnít enough bar staff and I waited an hour for a drink. Then they shut the bar an hour before close. Badly organised!
But great music
when we arrived it was all good, got our Stein of beer waited about 10 mins not to bad, when we went to get our 2nd stein of beer we queued for 45 mins and still not been served was then told they was running out of beer. we had paid √ā¬£5 deposit on the glasses but the queuing was ridiculous so we didn't get our money back on them either. so we left and then found out they closed the bar at 10. I will be pursuing on getting our money back.
The management and staffing of the bar was ridiculous and almost ruined the evening.
Sadly not as organised as the previous years event, lack of options for food, needed more toilets and more staff
I had a really enjoyable evening. Despite the terrible organisation. Announcement that bar was closing at 10pm. 45 minutes queuing for beers. Last year was loads better. It was like they decided that they wanted to make more money this year so cut everything down to the bone
Would you recommended: ?
Need a bigger bar because as from 8pm was very hard to get served
Nicola Hemley Preece
Drinks were very over priced and it took nearly an hour to be served. Far too many people in there. It became dangerous and didn't feel safe. Paying £5 deposit per glass was a rip off as the bar bar was so busy that we couldnt return the glasses so couldn't get our money back. Paid £22 each for our tickets and it was a complete waste of money. They should of had more bars outside and a place where u can return the glasses when leaving
Was really really really disappointed. First of all even the staff member who served us said that it was really expensive. It was billed as a beer festival but only 2 types of a beer and a cider were on offer. Then an hour into the event it ran out of beer we only found this fact out after queuing for 1/2 an hour to buy a drink and then it took an endothermic 30 minutes to get the stein deposit back. We ended up leaving early so definitely not be recommending the event. In fact based on the event we attended would suggest saving your money and going to the pub instead.
Great night ruined by poor organisation and obvious attempt at milking the event for as much money as possible. Ran out of beer and cider before 10pm. Closed the bar when our ticket were until 11pm!
Not enough oompah music, but when there was, it was great.
Disgusting portaloos and only one food stand.
Shame because people were determined to have a good time.
Appalling organisation this year. 30 mins to get a beer due to to few staff and then close bar at 10 and not serving people who had been queuing for 30 mins already.
Very unprofessional hospitality, lower standard of security and a real disappointment
They went cheap to make more money
This was rubbish. If this was a Beer Festival then why was there only a choice of 2 beers. Food outlets were rubbish. Only 2 on site and neither of them catered for non meat eaters.
we only stayed for a total of 1 hour
Would not go again or recommend this to my friends and family
Rip off mark was mainly for the food. I can live with £5 per pint although surely to make a Stein more attractive you should have had it at £9. However £10 for a rank hot dog and a few chips is bordering on ridiculous
Not as good as last year. Took far too long to be served at the bar and to run out of beer is unforgivable. Won't go back next year
Overpriced food, weak beer and although the um pa pa band was good it wasn't on for long and there was just a DJ playing tracks in between.
We were with friends and did have a good laugh but it wasn't because of the event particularly.
We got free tickets via a competition, there is no way I would have paid £22.40 just to get in ! I talked to people who had and they felt very ripped off!!
The main issue was that the bar was not big enough & there was not enough staff on duty to cope with the demand. In 2017 the bar was bigger and there was more staff. For the majority of the event it was at least 5 deep across the bar area. Taking on average 30 minutes to get served. People left early mainly because of this. This also lead to customers becoming annoyed and venting their frustration towards the bar staff. Who's fault it wasn't. We also got told that there bar had run out of beer just before 2200hrs. Basically it appeared to be very poorly planned & managed. Shame as the previous year it was excellent.
Ran out of beer at a beer festival. Asked to leave an hour before it was due to finish. Last year was good. More food stalls etc. I won't be going again
Not as good as last year,
Poorly organised this year bar situation was awfull, and at one point the beer pumps wasnít working,
Only two food stalls this year.
Music and atmosphere was good,
Just venue and organisation was awful.
I went on Saturday night and my hole experience was completely ruined by the waiting time for the bar which was an hour. I arrived at 7 with my friends and left when it finished . in that space of time I was only able to be served twice. then to top it off at the end I paid a deposit for mine and my friends steins, brought then back at the end to receive my refund only to be told that I didn't
have a ticket so which I was never given so I couldn't claim my money back!!! not impressed at all
My husband and I travelled from Worcester to come to this event, we were invited by our friends who had been the previous years, they were disgusted at the event this year and were highly embarrassed that they had asked us. Even though we have never been before, we to were disgusted. I honestly cannot believe that your company could even begin to feel that was a successful event. The must was awful, the bar..... well what can I say it wasn't even really a bar. The food stalls, all 2, yes only 2, were shocking and we got served COLD food then when we asked for another that was warm it certainly wasn't served to us with a smile that's for sure. Then to top it all off the bar had to close early at 10am because they ran out of gas/beer???????? Shocking shocking shocking. Never again will we go to an Oktoberfest and never will we recomend that anyone else goes. We are trying to find a way to get a refund as I know from the Oktoberfest Hemel Hempstead face book page that there are also a number of other people who were feeling as disgusted and have requested refunds. Shocking there are no other words to describe what a dismal and disgusting event this was.
This Oktoberfest on the Saturday evening was a complete shambles. Waiting for over 1 hour 20 minutes to order our first drink whilst being jostled by other people was terrible. It's a shame as I came here last year and it was fantastic. Very, very disappointed.
It was poorly organized drinks and food well and truly overpriced!! Toilet facilities were very poor tables rammed together!!! Then they ran out of beer by 10 pm!!! The ques for the bar were horrendous!! Last year it was sooo well organized this year it was very badly organized!!! We left early as we didn't enjoy it !!!
Went with 5 other people we are all of the same opinion, very poor experience all round would never return. Spoke to many people there and they all said the same thing.
We had an enjoyable evening at the Hemel Oktoberfest. The venue/set up was fabulous and staff were very friendly. The music was well chosen and the 'Ommpah' band was amazing! Unfortunately the sound system had huge amounts of reverb on and it was difficult to hear what the DJ/compere was saying. The VIP table was well positioned. The main negatives were the choice of drinks available. For the price we paid for the table the beer choice was very limited and I actually didn't like either of them, although I love German Wheat beer, both light and dark. There was also no red wine. The drinks were also very expensive and they ran out of beer and cider at the bar at 9pm which really affected our enjoyment of the evening and was unforgivable. The food choice was OK and good quality. The toilet provision was also very basic for the price of the tickets. It could do with a few tweaks but has lots of potential. I'm not sure I'd go again unless there were some changes made.
This was an awful event. The whole thing was over priced for what you got. It was all done very cheaply. Terrible atmosphere. No choice in drink. Horrendous set up. 9 deep at bar, beer ran out at 10pm! Lots of fight. Would never go again and definitely would not recommend
brilliant evening. lived up to the real thing. thanks
far too overcrowded far too over priced and ran out of beer by 9pm!! feel like I was robbed.
