About Touched Music:
Touched Music is a record label, set up by electronic musician Min Y Lan aka Martin Boulton to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Following his mother’s diagnosis with the disease and successful treatment, Martin wanted to give something back.Since 2013, Touched Music has raised over £70,000 for the charity and is now one of their top three donors.
Martin has curated a number of compilation albums on Touched Music that feature exclusive tracks by some of the biggest names in electronic music, including Plaid, B12, Autechre, Amon Tobin, 808 State and The Future Sound of London. The label has also consistently championed material by new, up and coming electronic artists. All artists donate their tracks for free, and many become firms friends and supporters of Touched Music.
By bringing Touched Music to Hastings we want to celebrate this amazing cause and the uplifting power of music with a heavyweight line-up of live music and DJs, including some pioneers of the UK electronic music scene appearing in a very intimate setting.
All profits from this event will be donated to both Macmillan Cancer Support and a local charity The Sara Lee Trust.
The Sara Lee Trust supports people across Hastings and Rother affected by cancer and other life threatening illnesses through the provision of free psychological and therapeutic support.

About the artists:
Steven Rutter B12 LIVE ft Bryonii A veteran and pioneer of the UK electronic scene, Steven Rutter is a massive supporter of Touched Music, having given the label exclusive tracks to release over the years. Steve is one half of electronic music duo B12, who were at the forefront of the burgeoning UK electronic music scene in the early nineties. The critically acclaimed B12 ‘Electro-Soma’ record was re-released by Warp Records in 2017 and Steven continues to release excellent music on his own label, Firescope Records. Steven saw in 2018 at legendary Berlin club Berghain, playing live in the Panorama Bar to 1500 people. For Touched: Live, Steven will be bringing us a two hour exclusive live hardware set in the intimate confines of 34, the basement of Borough Wines. Expect your senses to be stimulated and your soul uplifted.
Tickets for this part of the event are extremely limited so don’t wait to buy your ticket for what promises to be a special experience. UPDATE Steven will be bringing along his vocalist Bryonii for the first part of his set. Recently went down a storm at Pickly Factory London so we are in for a treat. Can’t wait.
Plaid sit right at the very heart of global electronica. In fact there's a very real sense in which Ed Handley and Andy Turner are the perfect encapsulation of what the electronic music of their generation was all about. As Plaid and as two-thirds of The Black Dog, they were central to the “Artificial Intelligence” movement of the early-mid 1990s: alongside their WARP stablemates Autechre, Aphex Twin, B12 and allies like Richie Hawtin, Speedy J, Kenny Larkin, they brought new rhythmic variation, emotive melody and sensual textures to electronic music, creating a warm and welcoming counterpart to the white heat of the rave explosion.
But where the others would swiftly diverge and head off in many creative directions – into increasing abstraction or intricacy, or back towards pure techno – Plaid were the ones who stayed truest to the musical values they started out with. Their sound palette has got broader over the years, their techniques more sophisticated, they increasingly incorporate “real” instruments – especially with their ever-closer collaborations with multi-instrumentalist Benet Walsh – but over the years and right up to the utterly gorgeous new album The Digging Remedy, their focus has remained the same: intricate but always grooving rhythm, immersive listening experience and melodies and sound design that connect direct to the emotional centres.
We are so excited to have Andy Turner of Plaid joining us for this event. Andy is a huge Touched Music supporter and friend and will be delivering one of his heavy duty DJ sets.
We are so lucky to have christ. joining us for this event and playing one of his live sets. Chris Horne is another massive supporter of Touched Music. Based in rural Scotland, and regularly playing live internationally, christ. is the only artist John Peel ever asked for an encore at his Maida Vale sessions. Equal parts beauty, darkness, depth and mystery, the music of christ. is kaleidoscopic and hard to define yet always an emotional and sensory experience.
Karsten Pflum LIVE
Karsten Pflum is a restlessly creative Danish musician who has built a wide-ranging discography, releasing music since 2002 on various labels such as Worm Interface (UK), Rump Recordings (DK), Caoutchou Records (BE), Hymen Records, Ad Noiseam and Mindwaves (DE). The music varies from heavy and funky beat driven IDM and electro, abstract sound scapes and beautiful ambient, combining lush ambiences with complex programming and treatment.
The Pflum sound is poignant, quirky and sophisticated. Based in Berlin, he works with a wide range of gear and techniques - old school outboard samplers and synthesizers, as well as programming and computer production. The output is often full of references to genres, gear or techniques - and the underlying storyline displays a love for classic elements from 80's sci-fi, Motown funk music, and BBC wildlife documentaries. His tunes have been air-played by DJs on a diverse number of radio programs, among these BBC's Mary Anne Hobbs, Carl Hyde of The Underworld, Rob Booth of Electronic Explorations and DJ legend John Peel.
With his live set for Touched: Live, Karsten Pflum might just blow your mind. Get your dancing shoes on.
