Paul Oakenfold famously romanticized the story of Ibiza's origins, wherein he and fellow London DJs/promoters—Danny Rampling, Nicky Holloway, and Johnny Walker—discovered Amnesia’s iconic open-air dancefloor in the summer of '87. There, they encountered DJ Alfredo Fiorito's eclectic music and the uniquely international crowd.  Their experience inspired them to bring this hedonistic vibe back to London, thus laying the foundation for acid house.

However, the person who guided them through this Balearic adventure was Trevor Fung. A young DJ and promoter, Trevor had been visiting Ibiza since 1979 and even DJed at Amnesia as early as 1982. By 1987, he and his cousin Ian St Paul were managing The Project Club on the island. Trevor Fung became a key figure in the acid house scene, DJing at renowned venues like Shoom, Spectrum, Love, and Rage, as well as at various M25 raves.
