The John Rush Band with Special Guests Becci Wallace and Anton O'Donnell. 18+.
After a whirlwind and successful year of playing gigs and festivals all over Scotland; John will be playing a full band show in the intimate setting of The Old Hairdressers on Renfield Lane, Glasgow. Tickets:
JOHN RUSH: 'Glasgow based singer/songwriter John Rush with his “folk tinged pop songs” has played some of Glasgow’s greatest venues from the Barrowland Ballroom to King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut.
Through the years he has racked up some highly acclaimed support slots with the likes of Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene, Rick Astley, Hipsway, The Silencers, Finley Quaye, Mark Morris (The Bluetones), Chris Helme (The Seahorses), Steve Pilgrim (Paul Weller’s drummer) and Johnny Lloyd (Tribes).
2019 was a very exciting year for John Rush with the release of his debut album Beneath The Apple Tree, selling out his first headline show in Glasgow at Room 2 and also joining the 23 Music Management family. John has played all over the UK and in the USA.
John set his sights on spreading his wings a little further afield this Summer by playing Eden Festival, Doune The Rabbit Hole, Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, ButeFest, Party At The Palace, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Dunbar Music Festival and Frewfest. New singles, an EP and a new album are all on their way.
John won two Awards at the inaugural Paisley Music Awards in The Bungalow; Best Solo Artist and Artist Who Has Risen Above Adversity of Covid-19. Which was followed by winning one of the prestigious Danny Kyle Awards at Celtic Connections 2022 to guarantee John performing at Celtic Connections 2023.'
BECCI WALLACE: 'Glasgow based singer-songwriter and producer Becci Wallace is firmly placed at the heart of Scotland's songwriting community. As a solo artist her first album Fragmentality was Longlisted for The Scottish Album of the Year, released in 2015, gaining plaudits across the country and securing multiple national and local radio plays. Her most recent project, Present Tense, was released in November 2020 to critical acclaim, featured as BBC Radio Scotland The Roddy Hart Show’s Record of Note and gained airplay across national radio in Scotland and local radio across the UK and Europe. Her next release, After The Fog... Air, is scheduled for Summer 2023 and Becci will be touring the festival circuit as part of her release schedule in collaboration with local music legend, Steg G. The new material promises a fresh and uplifting set of experimental pop and hip hop and is sure to highlight this ever engaging artists vocal, songwriting and stagecraft.'
ANTON O'DONNELL: 'Frontman of Glasgow based outfit, Anton & The Colts and solo artist, Anton has brought his music to Texas, Rome, Nashville, Paris, New Orleans to London and back home again. Living proof that success does not necessarily mean compromise, Anton has taken the music he loves – blues, country, folk, rock n roll – and shaped them into a potent, fresh, yet reassuringly familiar brew. Blessed with a smoky, whisky-soaked voice redolent of the great soul singers of Stax & Muscle Shoals, and armed with just an acoustic guitar & harmonica, Anton adds incisive lyrics to sweet melodies to create something that can reduce a rowdy bar to awed silence or rouse the most sedate venue to fever pitch.'
Thank you for the support and see you there!
