Great festival and great location, hopefully here to stay!

It was a good event. Apart from the bar situation, there were enough bars but people waited a long time. I waited 40 minutes at the bar in the food section on my to give up because a. People started to get a little agitated and b. I wish would have missed the start of Groove Armadas set. I feel like there could have been a better system. Given that other events of this size haven’t had that long a wait for a drink. Other than that I enjoyed it.
Fantastic event, queues for bar a bit long but venue/setting and music great!
Huge bar queues, 90 mins to be served but everything else faultless.
So much potential, great setting and great acts. They really need to reassess the bar situation. People queuing for an hour to buy drinks. They need to double up on general bar space and staff, surely the cost per hour is outweighed by the income from additional bar sales. It definitely ruined the atmosphere somewhat and left a lot of people frustrated.
Fab music with great atmosphere.
Prices for drinks too high & queues at bars way too long. Need much better system.
Amazing, hope it’s back next year!
Robert Cameron Murray
Only thing that was not great was the massive queuing and time it took to get a drink
Absolute disaster. The box office staff couldn’t find my ticket, spent 10 minutes while they faffed about then one eventually gave up and threw a wristband at me. Was in the bar queue for over an hour - we’d actually separated out over a couple of bars and no-one got near being served. We ended up leaving. Shambles.

My only complaint would be a poorly lite exit (on all routes). Everyone was using their phone light to c where they were going. We could’ve done with some sort of lighting to light the path. Other than that, great venue, food fabulous and drinks good. Line up on Friday was great, Cuban bros 👌 x
Needed more people working the bar,
Really enjoyed Playground Festival’s opening night. Great food options and brilliant music. It was a nice chilled our atmosphere.
Only negatives for me were the lack of loo roll/hand sanitizer and the unlit exit routes through the park.
Had a fantastic Friday at Rouken Glen, light show from Groove Armada was spectacular, the cuban brothers were so entertaining. The site was very well organised, although long bar queues and pricey for a small glass of proseco. It was a beautiful setting, couldnt fault it.
Great setting. Groove Armada were amazing. All good :-)
The festival itself was excellent. I enjoyed the range of bars and the layout. However, the queuing system for the bars was ridiculous and we spent far too much time queuing for drinks. Having to queue for long periods of time encouraging irresponsible drinking and takes away for the overall experience of listening to the music.
All in all it was an amazing experience with loved ones, if there were a couple things i would change it would be the lines to the bar could have been set up like they do at other festivals in a snake formation as the cues took up half the standing areas. I would of also of liked to have had the cuban brothers on before Groove Armada as they had the crowd jumping and it would have been a better build up, freindly fire was awsome aswell but they were a bit more chilled than cuban brothers. But i woild defineatly recommend the Playground festival to everyone and will be defineatly coming back next year!
Great band performances with good stage and sound system. Huge queues of up to 2 hours for the bars. Witnessed frayed tempers which needed intervention by security and police - so not an event that I’d like to attend again.
There services from bars from start to finish was a complete disaster.
From no draught lagers available all day to running out change and threatening security staff.
That was if and when you got served after waiting in queues for nearly an hour!
This truly was a joke.
Music and fellow fans were great though.
Bar queues were ridiculous - waited 30 minutes then 55 minutes. Ran out of red and white wine. Using large bottles for mixers - set up post mix at least! Badly organised. Toilets had no loo roll or water to wash hands by 8pm.
Groove armada were great though
The only downside of this festival is the horrendous queues for the bars , otherwise it is just brilliant
Keep it small please! Could do better on plastic waste (paper cups only) and you need free water fill up points next time please.
Massive queues for drinks...took over an hour to get drinks. No toilet paper....but did it matter when you cannot get a drink!!
Fantastic day and great venue. Only critism is Not enough bars. Queues were miles long and no loo roll in toilets.
Lynn Montgomery-Ha wke
There are a lot of great music festivals around but what separated this one from the rest was that in addition to great music, the food was great and the toilets were clean: result!!
Had a great night at Playground Festival Giffnock last night. Would definitely go back if it return.
Only reason I marked prices lower was because 2 small mojitos cost £16 which I thought was expensive for a festival.
It opened at 4pm, I got there at 5 and there was no toilet roll in any toilets and the hand sanitizer was empty in half of them. Also the bars were a disgrace, 2 hour queue. Groove Armada were great.
Groove Armada nailed it!
What a great set
The bar queues were far too long, not enough bar staff.
When we were leaving it was so so dark, there was literally no lights!
None of the toilets had loo roll in them which is a really poor show!
Lisa Forbes Glen
All boxes ticked for this event. Will be back next year!
Music was great but had to queue for 20 mins for beer which was warm and then later queued for 1 hour for gin with no ice. The queues for drinks were ridiculous. There were too few bar staff employed.
Terrible drinks queues but fantastic night
Good local festival
Downside was waiting in a queue for an hour for a G&T and only just making it before they ran out of gin (at 9.30) - first world problems...… Good evening, good crowd
Lovely venue, nice size crowd. Chilled music. Friendly fires and groove armada - great shows
Was day one which meant a few teething troubles- bar q got very slow, signage to /from poor- left walking through a dark park making way to station.
Worst festival gig I've ever been to.
45 minutes to an hours wait at the mojito bar & I don't even like mojito!!
Went there because the queue was smaller than at the main bars.
We left at 9:30.
I can appreciate some teething problems at a new festival but that was unacceptable.
I want a refund.
Good luck to those attending the next couple of days
Great wee venue & great live acts with sunshine. Only criticism was the location of the bars as the queues went back towards the area of the main stage which wasn't ideal! The food & bar area with the DJ set was spot on. 👍
Great area and set up for the food vans. Loved the location, lights and trapeze in the trees.
Great venue however had to queue for 1.5 hours for a drink.
bar queues dire - 45 mins to an hour - surely this shouldn't be an issue these days. If other places can do it more efficiently why cant all? Drink quality in the non specialist bars poor and overpriced.
Good smaller festival, bar queues were awful! Too many pourers and not enough serving!
Loved our day was a fantastic atmosphere
Brilliant first night with great bands, food and atmosphere. Only drawback was the bar. There could have been another bar area and more staff on.
Very good day overall
Fantastic, hope it comes back to roukenglen next year
Miss Elaine M Cox
What a tremendous event so far! We attended last night & are returning today & tomorrow.
The only issue we had was the bar service. The staff were great & really responsive but there were not enough of them, putting them all under immense pressure & causing excessively long waits in queues. Hopefully, following their first day, days 2 & 3 will be a bit better manned in terms of the bars.
No cash machines. No cards accepted in the food stalls. Overpriced beer, which was poured from cans into single-use plastic - no reusables. 90-minute waits to be served on the bar. It's your first festival and there are always teething problems. But this was another level.
Lack of free water is an issue. Also organisation of Bars is really poor. Huge queues. No control of purchase per customer and queue jumping as a result.Location and bands are fantastic
Playground was great! No bams or tangoed a**e cheeks in sight. Plenty of space to enjoy and have a dance to the good music on offer.
Only a couple of things I think need to be considered if it were to happen again. There needs to be better signage on how to get the “arena” once in the park be it with stewards keeping you right or signs. The lighting also need to be better when it comes to the end of night.
Not very good
Really, fun event. Lots of food and drinks, although queues were quite long. Would definatley go back.
We had a great night. Most of the music was brilliant. The only down fall was the waiting time for alcohol.
Took far too long to queue for drinks
Fantastic day and night. Loved every min of it. Great set up, perfect venue and brilliant crowd! 10 out of 10!! I hope it's on next year!!!
The bar situation was horrific. It’s actually put us off coming back tomorrow
Great night out
Couldn't get a drink as queues too long.
Bars were a joke.
Please make it happen next year!
Good event however need far more folk on at the bars. I waited over an hour for a drink from the Gin Bar as they only had 3 people serving with a 200-250 line, missed most of the support act.
Bar area was a joke, hour and a half to get drink.
Was denied entry as my tickets wouldn’t scan and as a result wasted £100 and a day I could have spent doing something else
Thought have a music festival in the south side of Glasgow was a genius idea! So much hype around it and everybody seemed to have a great time! Despite not being a massive fan of he acts it was an excellent night.
I thought that the set up and organisation was good with excellent stalls dotted around the area. The drinks and the bar was the only downfall as there was not enough bar staff, queues were far too long a wait, and too much havoc being created over it all! That’s not to mention the staggering prices for drinks!
All in all, would love to see this festival back at Rouken Glen next year and years to come!
Far too long a queue at the bars. Waited nearly an hour both times I went to bar & only found out at end of one queue they only sold mojitos which I didn't want. Great venue, bands & atmosphere spoiled by long wait times at bar.
Bar area could be made bigger or areas closed off for the individual cues
Drinks prices were too expensive and the queue times for the bar late on were ridiculous.
Great small festival in great location, however let down by the lengthy queues at the bars for drinks resulting in us missing some of the bands. More bars needed and then it would be a 10/10 review! But would still highly recommend it.
Great venue & a good size with a fab atmosphere 🤗
Excellent, looking forward to next year already
Absolutely loved the vibe at this venue. An older crowd which was ideal for us so chilled with no mad teens . Loved that the food stalls were in another area , which had super funky house djs playing all day . Sound and lightning on main stage was amazing . Hope this event will be repeated 🤩
Great park venue for this. Amazing atmosphere and as usual Groove Armada were fantastic. Bars were under stocked, understaffed and really disorganised. Really disappointing and poor. I was really surprised at this. Long long waits in bar queue - over an hour to wait for warm expensive beer. No toilet roll in toilets.
Had excellent time a really good time one for the memories!!!!
Absolutely fantastic!! Hopefully it’ll come back to Rouken Glen!
Not enough bar staff, we waited 90min for a drink, missing the whole of Friendly Fires, people still waiting when the gig nearly finished. When leaving there was no lighting or signs to show you how to get out, or anyone even directing, no signs for buses/ taxis etc. We are going back on Sunday, so hopefully it was just teething problems, as its definitely put me off going back, which is a shame, as great bands and atmosphere.
Great sound, crowd & atmosphere.
Pity the toilets were not replenished with hand gel and toilet paper. There was no running water tap to replenish water and shops wouldn’t /couldn’t give tap water which contravenes licensing laws I believe.
Music good and stewards really nice.
I think it was overpriced at £60 per ticket but went when I got an itison offer
Great first playground fest,,,, sort the bar situation out (needs at least double) and could have a great wee regular festival
I thought it was a really good venue. The only thing that let it down was the queues for the bar - my friend and I had to wait an hour to get served and then missed the first half of Groove Armada!!! There was also no toilet roll in any of the portaloos and there didn’t seem to be anyone you could speak to about this. I also don’t think the food area was sign posted well enough. Sorry for the negative things but it’s the little things that need to be improved upon to make this a great night.
Queues at bars were so long we gave up waiting. Not enough serving, even though the venue wasn't busy. Think it wasn't busy because everyone was in the queue for drinks!!
Lovely event, some drinks too pricey and was a bit of a wait. Amazing atmosphere set up fantastic, brilliant toilets for a festival. Hope it happens next year. Groove Armada fantastic.
Great music and food. So close to creating a great new festival however beer poured from cans at £5 each. A lot of teething issues but fans made up for it just need the organisers to listen to fans to make what could be a fantastic festival for South Glasgow for many years to come.
Ticket far too expensive for the standard of music and entertainment on the day! Food too expensive as were the drinks.
Mrs Sarah Burke
Music, food and atmosphere were all excellent. However, the queues at the bar were insanely slow moving and it resulted in us missing some acts due to waiting over an hour for drinks.
Massive queues for the main bar. Other than that it was brilliant!
Went to see Lauren Hill -specifically! .... she came on stage at 10.40 pm and the set finished at 11 pm so I would like my money back please
The food prices were fair but the booze charges were a Rip-off. Everything else 5*+ except the alcohol prices and nowhere enough staff serving the wait was around 40 minutes to get served and then if customers payed by card it was taking the machine too long to process the payment which in turn held the line up even longer.... definitely, loads more staff needed at the bars and a reduction on price for drinks. Will we return next year? A resounding yes, loved it!
Very little live music. Main act didn’t show up. Problem with bar and beer tap.
Would not go again.
Great day, excellent weather, easy to get to.
Bit of a queue later in the day.
Bar service needs to be much better
Main act was one hour late to stage
Lesley Ann Jamieson
Headline act came on at 10.35 with an apology park was emptying as people had to geg home. What a load of rubbish lauren hill was. Waste of money
Lauryn hill was a disgrace. Played for less than 40 mins and played badly. Was boo’d by the time she graced the stage with her presence and none applauded when she was done - her singing was terrible too. She didn’t do a single crowd pleaser. Changed every one of her songs for the worse.
More bars , less DJ between musicians
Lauren Hill didnt even appear, tefund please
Terrible bars! A shambles. Queued for two hours then gave up. Toilet roll run out by 7pm on the Friday.
Due to weather,⚡⚡⚡ Took under 10s home but no re entry 😡 poor show,Lauren hill 30mins late,,mud everywhere no,mats down
Not for us
Lauren Hill arrived late sighting it was her son’s birthday. Did she not know this in advance? Disgraceful!
I bought local resident tickets Purely to see Lauren Hill on Saturday night. My husband and I arrived shortly after 9pm. There had previously been thunderstorms but no walkways had been organised over the grass which by then was dangerously slippy and thick with mud. We weren't allowed to take in our rather expensive golf umbrella but there was nowhere organised to leave it so naturally that went missing. But the biggest disappointment of all is that Ms Hill did not appear until 10.40pm and the concert closed at 11!! Absolutely disgusted!! Reckon I should get a refund.
The whole event was very well laid out, the music was great and the atmosphere was fantastic, especially as it was a lovely evening, however it was let down by the horrendous queues for the bars. The bar in the food area was particularly bad. We waited about an hour to get served and missed out on some of the music on the main stage. Please add more bars and staff if the event returns again.
Congratulations....worse than the fiesta last year for waiting time fit a drink, toilers n lack of free water. Shambles
The event organisers should have done a basic Google search of lauryn hill's reputation as a grade A diva and not bothered paying her god knows how much money for a 20 minute set. An absolute rip off.
Lauryn Hill. Enough said.
Awful service. Waiting far too long for drinks. Would not recommend.
I tried to give 0 stars in some categories but the system would not allow it.
An absolute disgrace that the headliner Lauryn Hill who we specifically came to see came on over 1 hour late and was on for only 25 minutes. I will be seeking a refund.
Poor bar service very slow
Appalling. Terrible customer experience. I wish to apply for a refund. Please advise on process.
This was advertised as a family-friendly event but failed to deliver. It was unsafe - no adequate lighting leaving the venue. It was unhygienic - no toilet paper from early on nor hand wash facilities. It failed to deliver the much awaited headline act Lauryn Hill. She arrived on set an hour and ten minutes late and was on stage for 35mins. In that time the sound quality was awful and she could not be heard over the band. She seemed angry about this The bar (expensive, lengthy queues and drinks not chilled), food, ‘entertainment ‘ and atmosphere were all seriously lacking and poor - but that isn’t why we turned up.
We were there to see Lauryn Hill - misold and an unhygienic and unsafe venue.
As you have requested this feedback I expect a response from you . Please also advise on refunds.
There was no system in place to get in with children, no one seemed to know which queue to stand in resulting in a long wait with children. Queues at the bar we needlessly long, there were 4 people serving and another 6 standing about pouring drinks nobody was buying. Stood fo 30 mins to get 2 drinks. Music and atmosphere was great despite the rain but lack of common sense process ruined what could have been a brilliant day/night.
Sadly the drinks/bar was a total let down. Quid for 50 mins..... missed entire DeLa Soul set only to get to top of queue....... no gin, no wine.
Ended up with a tonic water.
Headliner very late..... 30 mins of Miss Lauryn Hill..... sooooo disappointing.
Despite my mini rant, did enjoy the festival but if to go ahead again next year, drink system needs addressing
Headliner over an hour late. Disappointing .
Later, as festival got busier- too long queues for everything. Drinks overpriced. Not enough toilets. Lauryn Hill was so late, we left before she came on.
I feel really sorry for the organisers due to the lateness of Lauryn Hill. I know this was probably out of their control. The fact she only performed 4 songs is really disappointing. Some acknowledgement from the oorganisers about this would be appreciated
It’s hard to imagine a more disorganised, unprepared and unprofessional event as the playground festival. The entire day was a complete rip-off and the headline act turned up over an hour late only playing four songs before being booed off stage. We will be seeking a refund.
Very disappointed as tickets were overpriced. Paid for 3 tickets for a family day out to see Lauryn Hill she was an hour late to appear on stage, she didn’t deliver, only performed 3 songs and said she would do a 4th track then she suddenly just left the stage snd didn’t perform! Waste of money and would like a refund please
Dreadful event....massive queues for drinks and food, headline act (Lauryn Hill) turned up over an hour late and played for 20 minutes, generally very badly organised. In short a total rip off, definitely won’t be back!!
Lauren Hill was terrible. Late on. 5 songs. She didn’t even look like she wanted to be there. Drinks prices were ridiculous. Queues for everything were beyond a joke.
I had bought the tickets for the main act which was Lauren Hill! The set time she was meant to come on was 9.30 but she didn’t come on until 10.45 making the excuse it was her son birthday! No good enough playground! Especially paying £65 for a ticket and then selling them in itson for £39!!
No toilet roll in any toilets at beginning of day......long q at bars 1 hour waits........lauren hill a disgrace......... would love a refund
Venue fine, headline act over an hour late
The headline act was so so disappointing- I’m furious. Only came to see her. Arrived at 8pm - Queues for drinks were 1 hour 15 and then wait for Lauryn Hill was 1.5hrs. If I wanted to wait 3 hours in ta park for literally a 30 minute set I would never have paid what I did. The bar staff were oh so casual. Just a poor experience for me. If it wasn’t for the DJ we would have walked out - she saved the day.
Craig Charles was a revelation, De La Soul were, of course, amazing. Lauren Hill though......hope you didn’t pay her. What a disappointment. Her eventual three song session didn’t merit her diva antics to be honest.
Lauren Hill was very late coming on, just not acceptable as the main act. Drinks expensive, limited choice. Long queues for the bars. So glad I didn’t take my daughter as there seemed nothing for children. Very poor experience for a lot of expense. Will not be going back.
We enjoyed our day, lovely to see families and the rain couldn’t be helped although more places with cover for shelter would have prevented so many people leaving and therefore spending.
the queues for drinks were too long and the bar ran out of wine v early on. Couldn’t cope with the numbers and demand. More toilet paper needed.
Craig Charles was superb but Lauryn Hill was such a let down. She was so late and only did 20 mins. Very arrogant and I hope she wasn’t paid!
Headlining act over an hour late and didn’t play her biggest hits. Sound quality poor and inaudible at times.
So dissappointed that Lauryn Hill only played a handful of times but appreciated her spending time with the audience at the end. That made up for it in some way. Also dissappointed that Groove Armada finished at 10:50pm. DJ Reborn, De La Soul, Craig Charles, Cuban Brothers and DJ sets on Friday especially Barely Legal were all amazing!
Thomas K Bruce
If they sort out the drinks situation where you were standing for 45mins for drinks and hand wash facilities at toilets, then this event would be Brilliant. The atmosphere was brilliant as it was an older audience and the Friendly Fires were Brilliant and the night Groove Armada were Awesome!!
Fun but lots to improve - perhaps more than one stage with more bands - expensive!
access to drinking tap water, more loo roll, shorter bar queues, maybe more shelter from the rain where you can still watch the music on main stage, but I think most of all for me, eliminating all plastic waste - your efforts to be sustainable are pretty lame. I hope you improve things for next year.
A new festival a few hiccups. Staff incredibly supportive of my daughter with Downs Syndrome and family. Thank you Playground...👍😘🎉
Hugely unimpressed that De La Soul fannied around on the stage rather than singing, and Lauren Hill was over an hour late to the mic. In fact, I left at 10:30 rather than wait around. I won’t be back to this event.
There wasn’t enough cover for people when it rained, and there hadn’t been enough thought as to preparing the ground for rain. The mud was unbelievable around the bars and food areas. I fear for the safety of people attending this event on Sunday.
The signage on site was woeful, and upon leaving the park there was hardly anyone to be seen directing people to transport.
Disappointed the main artist I went to see Lauren Hill was over an hour late and performed for less than 30 minutes, total waste of money. Queues far too long at bars and food outlets, not enough toilets. When festival finished no lightening in park, or exit signs! So dangerous, just seemed totally unorganised
In terms of the whole set up, it was a well run event with a nice relaxed atmosphere. Thought the drink prices were slightly excessive, £10 for 2 small cans of beer/cider that had been pre poured into plastic containers and as they’ve been sitting for a short while, were inevitably flat.
The relaxed atmosphere lasted until 10:40 when Lauren Hill decided to show herself(she was meant to be on at 9:30ish). She was booed before she came on and I understand, booed when she came off. No wonder!! The main reason we went was to see her and I’m sure the majority of everyone else. I wanted to surprise my partner with seeing her as she’d never saw her before and loved her music. We waited 1 hour and 10 before she decided to grace us with her presence, disgraceful. Even more so as there was lots of young kids waiting to see her, who were just getting more upset and tired by the minute. We left before she even got the chance to belt out a song, heard her halfway through the park. I’m afraid 20 minutes of the main act isn’t enough for me to justify the tickets price’s and as a result I’m going to claim a refund.
All in all a lovely festival, well organised and the Saturday line up was just great
The only disappointment was Lauryn Hill, she came on so late we had to leave to get back in to the city to get connections... very disappointing for a headline act! Who we could t wait to see
Lauryn Hill's antics not the fault of organisers but shocking queues for drinks were, especially after becoming aware of this from the previous evening! Then having waited fifty minutes in the queue, no wine!!! At 8 o'clock....really!! Umbrella confiscated only to see loads of people with them inside the venue! No lights on exit routes!!! It's like you's took the money and ran!!
It was a shambles from start to finish!
Bar staff took forever to give you a drink (and this was at 3pm). It got slower and more shambolic as the day continued.
Food venues ran out of supplies before 5pm (can no one nip to the Spar??)
The event organisers were not prepared for the rain which turned the place into a mud bath. (Hello, it's Scotland!)
There was a severe lack of signage from the train station to the festival entrance as well as inside the event itself.
Oh and don't forget the lack of supervision at the toilets meaning long queues and no toilet roll or hand wash in the cubicles - a health & safety breach I'm sure.
I don't even want to discuss Lauryn Hill's disrespectful 30 minute set (which was billed as an hour and a half) where she mumbled some excuse about her child's birthday. I don't care Lauryn! Everyone has birthdays! I've paid lot of money and I'm expecting a show from you!
Then, the final insult was after the event organisers switched off the sound and made us leave, the park was unlit and we were scrambling around in the dark and mud trying to find our way to the park entrance.
The only good thing about the event was that ScotRail had put extra trains on to take us back into Glasgow city centre!
Whilst the line up was good, bar Lauryn Hill who doesnt deserve an audience whatsoever, they've had so many problems with this event which is a shame. Queues were huge for any drinks or food, no provisions put in at all for the rain coming on and terrible handling of Lauryn. The fact that no one from the event has responded to any comments is disgraceful.
Lauryn Hill was a joke. I want my money back.
Extremely long queues at the bar, and when we eventually got served we found out the bar had run out of most drinks! Headline act was an hour and a half late and only played six songs! very disappointing.
The music was good apart from
Poor time keeping
Poor value for money
Pretty disgraceful for the head lining act
We turned up on the Friday thinking we had bought fri/sat tickets but actually had accidentally bought sat/sun tickets. Went up to the box office to explain our situation and ask if we could change our sun tickets to Friday but the woman was rude and passive aggressive and didn’t help us out even though neither Friday or Sunday were sold out. So we paid a lot of money for one night in a very average festival with about 40 min wait at the bar at points. Definitely not returning next year
Absolute joke, terrible, complete ripoff.
Lauryn Hill was a disgrace
To have paid £55.00 x 6 tickets to see Lauren hill for 20 mins was completely unacceptable...the queues were a minimum 50 mins for food and the same for drinks was appalling...I feel we should be refunded!
We live on the doorstep of the site and should have stayed in my garden! We wanted to support this but would never attend again!
Fab venue, AMAZING food, good family area and great music. Shame about Lauren Hill but otherwise amazing day with friends and wee ones. Would defo again next year if it comes back.
Already asking for a full refund for me and my partner for the saturday. Never ever attended such a joke festival in my life. So unorganised it was funny
Ok first off, few teething problems I would say. There was a serious problem on the Friday. The bar service was shockingly bad but to be fair, us Scottish people are used to festival organisers massively underestimating how much we drink. At least double the staff was needed to make those queues bearable. Was a little more organised on the Saturday so fair play for trying to deal with that.
And in all fairness nobody can blame the organisers for Lauryn Hill being an absolute diva of the worst calibre imaginable. To actually use her son’s birthday as an excuse for being an hour late to stage and playing only a half hour set is pathetically unprofessional and shameful. The fans were right to boo her in their droves.
All that being said, I would still definitely recommend this festival to anyone and everyone. The atmosphere was absolutely electric. Everyone was having a blast and the lineup was outstanding. Groove Armada were tremendous on the Friday, in fact, all the bands were great and the crowd gave them the raucous reception that Scottish fans are renowned for. Looking forward to Hot Chip and a great line up on the final night.
I really hope we see this festival again next year and for many years to come. Organisers did an unbelievable job securing that line up for a new festival and the setting was beautiful. Glasgow needs something that isn’t Trnsmt.
There was a lot right with this. The location is excellent and fit for purpose, there was a good selection of food and nice area for eating, good seating provided with a DJ. Good stuff for kids too.
However the organisation of the bars was poor, since they were cash bars this seemed to contribute to long delays. By 7pm I had 45 mins wait at a bar, missing a lot of the set I wanted to see. Should probably use token system like other festivals, with main bar only providing lager, cider, wine, spirits, with plenty already poured and ready to hand out. Then have couple of craft beer bars, speciality gin etc.
Toilets were actually ok, lack of toilet paper a problem but if you remember to bring tissues it's fine.
Lighting was poor once dark, toilets dark, leaving the venue extremely dark with no staff guiding where to go, thankfully we knew the area and park but if I hadn't could easily be disorientated.
Lineup was decent, Craig Charles set was highlight, De La Soul disappointing, Lauryn Hill very late on, but none of that is organisers fault.
Overall it was a great venue and there's a market for it, good atmosphere and DJs were good, keep as a funk/soul type festival, obvious teething problems being first year. We would definitely come back, hoping issues highlighted were fixed.
This Friday night festival was brilliant.
Sadly they underestimated the bar interest and the 45 minute queues were the only downside.
I will look out for it again.
Is it really a "festival" when nearly every act is a D.J.? Main headline act didnt even bither to turn up on time. Thumbs down to you Loryn Hill.
Great venue, bit too pricey though. Very disappointed in main act Lauren hill being an hour and a half late. Would still go back though next year
Very large queues at the bar, otherwise a good day out
We were at the festival on Saturday and generally really enjoyed it. Excellent venue, easy to get in, food offering great (maybe add fish & chips next time?!!), bars were fine to begin with but queues ridiculous later on. A token system as at other events I have attended would help to alleviate this as bar staff wouldn't need to handle cash. Also more beer/lager on tap. Loos were fine although separate male and female would be nice for us girls! Also some signage for the men's urinal area as lots of men didn't know it was there. Hand sanitiser good idea rather than hand washing. There also needs to be a bit of consistency re what is allowed in - chairs were on the list of prohibited items so we didn't bring them but saw lots of people with chairs. For a more mature audience chairs are essential!!!
Apart from Lauren Hill, all the acts were great, on time and engaged with the audience. Craig Charles my favourite - need more of him!! Lauren Hill v disappointing - although I know she has form for being late, to keep us waiting for an hour last night was unacceptable. I felt sorry for her "official" dj who clearly knew she would be very late and was trying her best to fill in - although presumably this is a regular occurrence. I hope LH will not be paid her full appearance fee.
All in all, a really good experience and would attend in future.
Venue and staff was top class as were most of the performers -Apart from Lauryn Hill as 30 mins is way too short for a headliner who decided to f**k off stage after appearing 75 mins late
Need to sort out the bars, too expensive for warm beer and too long of wait time for the gin tent and mojito tent. The toilets, no toilet roll from 5pm onwards on friday!
Only thing I would say which needs attention were queues for drinks. More bars or staff needed. I waited for an hour for a drink. At transmt it was prob about 15 mins in queue so caused bit of problem.
Good venue and good service. Big feed always delivers the goods. Bus service to the city centre was helpful too
Great mix of music. Great variety of bars and food stalls. Recommend more staff to cope with demand as queue times were horrendous .
Really disappointed that Lauryn Hill came on very late as this was the only reason that we got tickets.
Great venue, disappointed with the kebabs we bought...all 3 of us had heartburn.
1+ hour long queues for drinks. Headline act (Lauryn Hill) was over an hour late and then only played 6 songs.
It's a shambles with no staff , 1.5hs wait at the bar and acts 1.5hs late
Bars! Bars! Bars! - queues, lack of staff, incorrect signage, over 90mins for a drink. Simply not good enough! Can’t comment on food or much else as most of the time was spent queuing at the bar before the main act came on, which by the way, saved the whole experience for me!
Lack of signage and information across the whole site! Why was soap placed in the portaloo's if there no means of washing hands?! Why was toilet paper not replenished overnight? Ridiculous that umbrellas were not permitted when torrential rain was forecast! No drinking water available for free unless you paid £2 for a bottle - scandalous! The best part was trying to leave the site at 11.15pm with NO LIGHTS directing you to the exit safely! We had to walk in complete darkness across the park and don't get me started on the underfoot conditions - no mating was put down. No idea how H&S signed this one off!
I went on the Saturday only. It started off very promisingly with nice DJ grooves and Anna Calvi who was superb and a nice intimate setting....but then all went pear shaped. Queues were insanely long , drinks very dear, no hot drinks at all,. De La Soul set was more like panto audience participation and Lauryn Hill showed up over an hour late - she shouldn’t have bothered.
Shame as there was potential for a great time but most people left with a bitter taste and probably very sober.
There needed to be ground protection on heavy trafficked areas.
The queues at the bars were terrible and £5 for a can of beer was dreadful
Too many DJ sets and needed live musicians
No water points was dreadful
Lauryn Hill headlining for a 15 minute is unforgivable.
Footballs being allowed was down right dangerous
Lighting on exit route is necessary
Queues for food and beers were horrendous. Missed a whole act due to it. Venue was lovely apart from that and Craig Charles abd anna calvi were great. Wouldn’t know about de la soul as I queued for a beer straight after crush Charles and by the time I was served I’d missed all of de la soul bar 2 mins of the last song. The reason the review is so poor is because of Lauren hill. She was an absolute disgrace. 1 hour and 20 mins late and then only sung a couple of songs. Truly ridiculous behaviour.
Great wee festival, and a fantastic lineup. Loved the venue, the scale and layout. The lineup across the weekend was fantastic, even though I was only there Friday and Saturday. I’m sure there can b improvements in the bar arrangements, as up to an hour to queue really is too long for a festival, and the prices were a only a little bit too high compared to similar events. That said, the security staff in the queues were excellent: I saw potential queue jumpers and “undesirables” dealt with quickly and efficiently.
I hope the adverse weather on Saturday doesn’t reflect on the organisation of the festival, although some hot tea/coffee/hot chocolate vendors wouldn’t go amiss....especially with the kids there. Also some boards down at the toilets and main thoroughfares would be a good idea next time to avoid the quagmire.
Having seen Lauryn Hill before, I knew there was a high probablility she’d be late, and sadly this was the case and very disrespectful to those who’d paid to see her. This was especially unfortunate with the amount of very small kids in the venue, still wet from earlier and very very tired, so late at night and antsy waiting for the headliner. Also lots of travel arrangements affected by her being so late.
Thank the lord for Craig Charles, who brought the virtual sunshine that was needed. Groove Armada were a class above as usual and Friendly Fires were fab.
That said I really hope the festival continues and it gets better and better with experience. The food was excellent, and all staff were friendly.
See you next year.
Not worth the money. Only really went to see Lauryn Hill like many others. She turned up an hour late saying, 'sorry for my tardiness, it's my son's 22nd bday'. Ridiculous. Meant to be the headline act but her set only lasted just over 30 mins. I think she sang 4 songs and then left. When we left it was extremely dark and most people were walking into the woods in the dark to get to Davieland Rd. Playground Festival - refund please.
Everyone unhappy about this event please post. Does anyone know who the organisers are and have they responded to anyone's emails or messages on Facebook?
Shocking bar service (45 min wait) no draft beer, no water. Lauryn Hill over an hour late and set cut short. Terrible behaviour for the headliner. I’ll be looking for a refund.
Saturday was a joke. Headliner didn't appear until 10:45. Bar prices ware ridiculous and Q's way too long
groove armada on the Friday night were great. venue is good but the queues for the bars were terrible 1 hr to get a drink !!!!!!! they need to get their act together re this. paid £ 55 and since found out could have got it for almost 1/2 the price including even a 5 pm deal !!!
overall had a good time and hope it cont. next year with 4 times as many bar staff !!!!
Main act showed up just as it was closing. De la soul couldn’t play any of their old songs for legal reasons????????!!!
Well done to the buffer DJ..........such a disappointment.
Poorly organised. If any, worse than the last attempt with Fiesta x Fold!
Good venue with incredibly helpful and friendly staff. Most of the music was fantastic, especially Craig Charles, but Lauryn Hill showed up for just 20 minutes of a 90 minute set (and then had a 20 minute tantrum, singing with anger and contempt while gesticulating furiously at her unfortunate crew.) Not the fault of the organisers, but still a huge blow to those of us who paid to see her. I would hope that organisers would think twice before booking her again.
We are feeling really disappointed after Lauren Hills shocking performance. Money spent to see a performer who couldn’t be bothered to show up
I only attended for part of Sunday, early with my young daughters , and after 6 for a band.
I have worked at amd attemded many festivals and what i can say is the stewards were extrememly helpful, especially making it easy for me to get back in after dropping my daughters off.
Not the usual jobsworth animals.
Would be very happy to return with my girls next year.
Only issue, and given the family nature, not enough alcohol free drinks, sold out.
For a festival in its first year, I was impressed. It was a great crowd and setting (not too busy etc) prices were usual festival prices, great rating choice and a good variety of acts (bar one very tardy Ms Lauryn Hill). Hope it returns next year!
Really enjoyed the day but was really disappointed at Lauryn Hill not bothering to turn up on time as usual. I don’t live in Glasgow so had to leave to get transport home. Only disappointing bit of the day.
Incredibly disappointed that the headliner for Saturday chose not to appear until 22.40.
(& De La Soul finished their set at 21.00)
I was there from the start on Saturday. I thought Fauves were brilliant but wasted at such an early time. They should have been on much later. Lauren Hill was an absolute joke
Very poor organisation.
Dreadful Saturday headliner (Lauren Hill).
A great opportunity missed.
The queue to get in because they had run out of consent forms was an irritation and there was no toilet roll in many of the portaloos by early evening. The thunderstorm and resultant mud was difficult to contend with with young children, but clearly unavoidable! Fairly long queues for food and bar at times, but not the worst I've experienced at festivals. For us the whole Lauryn Hill debacle was the nail in the coffin. We left just as she came on as the children were so fed up by then. Lack of lighting on the way out, combined with the mud made for a very tricky exit.
Nice spot for a festival, but pretty poorly organised. Beer queues huge. Poor supply of water. Late opening on first day. But friendly and relaxed place. Not many neds.
Great event, Atmos marked down for an undeservedly small (but very appreciative) turn out for The Pictish Trail.
Great atmosphere and bands. Queues and drinks on offer let it down and the night I was there wasn’t even that full.
Nice venue, good layout. Bars absolute shambles. Prices took the piss as well.
I feel like the festival was open to a lot of criticism but me and my friends had a fantastic time and would definitely go again!
We were there on the Saturday and Lauryn Hill really ruined it for us. Felt there was far too many DJ sets to justify the price of the ticket.
Lauryn Hill is a pure fanny.
Amazing venue, amazing vibes, great lineup (except from the s**t show that was Lauryn Hill) and and all round incredible weekend
Overpriced drinks. Queueing for over an hour at the bar. Bar had run out of most types of drinks very early. Food selection didn't cater for dietary requirements No toilet roll in loos. Headline act didn't turn up until too late for the set Organisers not contactable. Very poor organisation. Refund should be given.
Booked especially to see Lauryn Hill, but she was an hour late for her set. Otherwise, great festival.
Nice venue but the toilets were awful. For the relatively small crowd, all toilets we used had no toilet roll and sanitizer and were totally unclean. I get that they are portaloos at a festival, but it wouldn’t be difficult to have staff restock constantly throughout the weekend.
Nice and relaxed with just the right amount of people. Great lineup and good value. Easy to get down the front for your favourite bands. Hopefully will be on again in 2020 (don't invite Lauren Hill again though)
Boycot lauryn hill
Lauryn Hill was a joke.
Disappointing that the website advised everywhere took cards to find several of the food places did not and we had no cash, only card. Very slow queues. Poor transport plans, could not get home without walking 30 mins away. Before a cab would come. Shame because Hot Chip (as always!) were amazing!
For the crowd in the evening the beer lines were really long and seemed like the service wasn’t moving people through quick enough. Given the sets were one hour it wasn’t worth waiting in line. I also think selling disposable rain ponchos is essential at merch stand if rain is forecast. Many ppl wanted to buy them given the rain and artists scheduled at that time miss out as everyone sought shelter. Other than that had a great day!
They got it right by Sunday Night!
Groove Armada were amazing, great night!
Drink ques were absolutely horrific. Food and drink overpriced. Headliner Lauryn Hill played for 15 mins and was extremely rude and lacklustre. No running water. No wash hand basins and no toilet roll in toilets.
Not the organisers fault but Lauryn Hill absolutely ruined the vibe with her diva antics once again. Hope they didn’t pay her. BUT every other act impressed, De La Soul and Craig Charles were ace.
Quang Huy Do
Poorly organized event. Lauryn Hill started more than an hour late and barely did couple songs
Lauryn hill was late very rude everyone else was lovely
Feel pretty ripped off by Lauren hill this was my 30th birthday present finally getting to see her and she is on for 25 minutes! I hope she doesn’t get paid for that joke of a show
well organised great venue drink to dear as usual..need more toilets
Bars a joke on friday. for food stalls who don't take card - cash machines needed. more water points needed. far too much single use plastic wasted!
Great location for the Venue, sound system was great, good we family atmosphere as well Hopefully it'll become a regular event. A couple of little teething problems which I assume would be sorted without much effort if it becomes a regular.
Overpriced, understaffed bars. Accessibility poor - extremely dark leaving the event site. ‘Ms’ Lauren Hill was a joke! If I could have a refund, I’d take it.
Lauren Hill not showing till 10.30pm on Saturday was way out of order especially as thre was no announcemnet to the waiting crowd.Hope her feecwasnt paid and perhaps some partial refund to all of those people who had come tobsee her. There were many unhappy peoplecat the train station who had trains to catch and didnt see her.Arrogant is the only wordsctp describe her arrival.Hope the organisers will take note.
No arrangements for terrestrial rain went home to get dried up came all the way back for the main act Lauren Hill she tuned up over an hour late and then we had to leave at 11 so only heard her set for about 25 mins max. Heard she got cut off at 11 15. Her excuse it was her sons birthday. Said she wanted to continue but was not allowed. Where was the communication between the artist and the organisers? Booed through first part of her act. Yeah she has only known for 22 years that it was her sons birthday that day. No update from the organisers over an hour from the DJ with no explanation of what was going on. Will be looking for a refund paid full price for 25mins if main act!!
Great apart from Lauren Hill who was abysmal. Shocking. Bar queues on Friday and Saturday also poor. Everything else great.
On arrival The area was poorly signposted when in the park.
I felt the general area should have been bigger, incorporating the food area rather than have that separately.
More bar areas (to reduce Q size) The park was poorly lit at the end of the night.
I feel an earlier start and earlier finish would have been better to allow for ‘last train home’ without missing headline act.
Ms Lauryn Hill set was outrageous and a total disgrace.
We did love the chilled out vibe and had a great time, but would be unlikely to come again, or recommend it.
we enjoyed the event a lot, was our first festival. we had taken folding camping chairs which we weren't allowed to take in to the festival ground. however I did see a few people with them so wasn't happy about that. also had taken tortilla chips with us and these were taken from us. ridiculous we thought. The tickets are expensive so to force people to eat and drink over inflated priced food and drink which they might get struggle to afford isn't right.
we were also annoyed and very disappointed at the time Lauryn hill came on....an hour late. and she was our reason for booking tickets. 10.40 she came on stage and festival was to finish at 11pm. A bit of a disgrace.
we enjoyed aspects of the day including Craig Charles!
