Petty Cassettes, Oh Romance and Maz & The Phantasms on Saturday 18th March 2023

23 Promotions & Room 2 Live Presents...

Petty Cassettes with Special Guests Oh Romance and Maz & The Phantasms.

PETTY CASSETTES: 'An indie-rock band from Glasgow. Their songs vary from energetic tunes to mellow ballads. Neck deep in their origins, they are the soundtrack of choice for any party night. Influenced by different genres, the result is an explosive mix of upbeat-indie-rock songs and marching ballads, a song for everyone...a song to everyone! The band finished 2021 strong with the release of 2 singles; 'Rydo & Julianne' and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit', which put them firmly in the public eye receiving encouraging reviews and literally thousands of national and global airplay with the likes of Amazing Radio (UK and USA) and BBC Music Introducing supporting the releases. They ended the year performing at the legendary Barrowland Ballroom, as support to Scottish 80's icons Hipsway, and hit the ground running in 2022 with their first sold out hometown show to promote 'Good Enough'. The single made the BBC Music Introducing Scotland playlist and was picked up globally by stations, making it their most streamed release to-date. For fans of Manic Street Preachers, The Libertines, Fontaines DC.'

OH ROMANCE: 'A name you need to get to know, now. The Scottish born outfit have been making explosive waves since selling out their debut show. Promising a distilled blend of catchy hooks, striking synths and distorted guitars. The group have dominated several iconic venues across Scotland’s Central Belt to packed-out rooms, selling out their Edinburgh date at Sneaky Pete's as part of their UK tour, in association with Scruff of the Neck. Spawned from the dissatisfaction of being in bands without direction, you can bet the path is clear for the Scottish rockers now. The collective influences of guitarist/vocalist, Alex Campbell, drummer, Blair Russell-Simpson, bassist, Alex Cameron, and lead guitarist Jamie Hamilton, shine through in their insanely addictive tracks. Each with its own unique, hauntingly hypnotic elements.'

MAZ & THE PHANTASMS: 'The post-lockdown project of Catalan-Egyptian Mariam El Sadr and her musical accomplices Jamie Sparkles, Toby Valentine and Jude Norton-Smith, based in Glasgow Southside. Inspired by surf guitars, Krautrock noise, psych rock, dance music and an explosive punk attitude, Maz & The Phantasms turned up with a bang in the Scottish live circuit in February 2022, performing incessantly and picking up steam in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Despite only one single released in October 2022, they sold out an unforgettable warehouse gig/queer rave (Phantasmagasm) at Glasgow Autonomous Space, establishing themselves as purveyors of the wild and quirky underground party scene. Shortly after, they embarked on a 2 week long UK tour bringing their show with great reception to most major cities. An extensive series of live dates and releases in 2023 follow the band’s successful beginnings. Their second single (released 18/02/23) ‘Psychosomatic’ encapsulates Maz & The Phantasms’ ambitious first explorations as a new sound that stands out from conventional guitar bands; bringing the queer, bold, playful, and European to the party. 2023 will see the releases that consolidate their sound and the place they have been working themselves up to in the alt-rock world.'
