About

Friday Night Comedy...The Spring Break One

Join us on Friday 28th April for a night of hilarity hosted by our very own Mr Graham Mackie with a brilliant line up of the best talent in Scotland.

JAY LAFFERTY

Jay has been performing comedy since 2005 working all over the UK as well as performing in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Reykjavik and Amsterdam. An experienced compere and stand-up Jay has an easy manner on stage, instantly connecting with her audience – whether a rowdy group of stags and hens or a serene ladies luncheon.

The girl next door persona allows her to get a way with the darker jokes that punctuate her material. Her comedy has been described as chocolate covered hand grenades. Don’t be mistaken Jay’s personality can melt butter – sometimes by using a flamethrower. Clever material delivered with effortless charm and packing a bite every bit as bad as its bark.

An experienced writer and performer Jay has worked on a number of hit BBC Scotland and BBC Four radio shows and one of the longest running panelist on Radio Scotland’s Breaking The NewsJay also secured a small part on Season 2 of The Comedy Unit’s hit BBC1 show Scot Squad.

JOHN ROSS

John Ross started playing Latino-style keyboard tunes, badly (is there any other way?) in a cheesy cabaret band. This came in handy when he made his Fringe debut in 2003. “Stand-up:The Musical” also starring Sandy Nelson and Allen Chalmers. The show went on to a successful run at the Glasgow International Comedy Festival of 2004.

John also worked with the popular Dance Monkey Boy, Dance! Improv troupe with Raymond Mearns, Paul Pirie and Allen Chalmers and has guested in ‘Improv Wars’ with Garry Dobson and Stu Murphy.

He has a laid back delivery and with a skewed world view that’s all his own, John's act reduces audience after audience to a Laughter. He likes that.

His one man shows 'John Ross - Westend Ned' and ‘John Ross - Return of the Westend Ned’ sold out at the 2007 – 2009s Glasgow International Comedy festivals and has appeared in the best of Scottish comedy shows at The Stand comedy club in Edinburgh, Fringes of the past.
