Review of Pandorafest

Overall rating: 4

The whole concept of this festival was brilliant and the standard of music and artists were fantastic. I feel that the marketing let ticket sales down a bit - Pandorafest came across online as a 'feminist' festival as opposed to a festival that showcased female talent and was open to everybody and it's possible that people might have been discouraged from attending for this reason (it seemed as though the majority of people there were acts/family and friends of the musicians who were there to support and crew members/organisers). The venue was in a great setting (even if it was a little hard to find - perhaps some more road signs next year?) but the Cheifton stage was far too close to the main stage - I was not the only acoustic act to be a little put off by some of the heavy rock bands that were playing at the same time as me. The overall atmosphere of the festival was really friendly and you could start a conversation with
everybody there but I think that there could be more for younger children there (a bouncy castle ect.) especially since it was sold as a family friendly festival. Overall I reckon this festival is a fantastic idea and there were good elements to everything - the majority of problems were just teething issues given this was the first year of the festival.

Truly unique, totally well organised with an awesome line-up. The bill was well thought out, and I've discovered some new favourite bands from the event. Food stalls and were bar well stocked... what can I say. We had an amazing time and can't wait for next year.

We really enjoyed our time. The quality of the music was very high and a great mix of musical types to keep us interested. The venue is perfect for a festival and the camp grounds and location so scenic. We had our 3 year old son with us and he loved it and found the whole experience in the fort very exciting. The weather didn't bother us at all, in fact i didn't notice it was that windy. There were no midges on site which was an added bonus. It was very well organised and felt safe and secure. The only down side was that the stages started to run over each other instead of being staggered. Probably weather related. This meant that when i performed my "intimate" set in the chiefs hall I couldn't hear myself for the sound of heavy rock music on the main stage. It kind of ruined the feel. It also meant with such low numbers in attendance the audience was scattered sp*****ly. Its a shame more people hadn't turned up but then i guess from small seeds big oak trees grow. The location may be difficult for many and perhaps a more well known headline name might draw more interest. I really hope the festival continues in future. Its such a great idea to celebrate women in music and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I was there as a volunteer to learn about film & sound. The bands were really high standard with lots of different styles, the weather was horrible, very windy and cold, but no one got upset about it. Everyone was happy and the music was awesome. The place was interesting but hard to get to, next year they say they will have a shuttle bus for that. Everyone should go to this!

The premise of the festival is fantastic. Duncarron Medieval Village is beautiful, and the people are just fantastic. All of the acts were super, and the love was in abundance. Fantastically organised, people just need to shout about it even more! Can't wait for this festival to come back around next year.

This event was very well run. The sound systems were good. The staff had boundless enthusiasm. Something has gone wrong with ticket sales. We felt as if we were the only ticket holders there - everyone else seemed to be part of a singwr's or band'a entourage or else part of the organising team. What a shame. Publicity? Also, the weather did not help. But - we really enjoyed it all the same.
