I hate that idiots are dictating what clubs get shut because studios is and always has been one of the best places to go. Assholes living above the club need to get theirselfs to f**k ... Other than that. It was a bangin' night

The final night at Studio 24. A great place and it will be missed by many. Hopefully Edinburgh will have a new venue like this to continue the music scene as this venue did for so many different genres.

Review of STORYTIME presents: Maribou State (DJ Set)

Up until 0:30am I didn't recognise a single piece from Maribou State set, therefore I was hugely disappointed. Last time I had a chance to hear Maribou State duo was at the Oval London in 2015 shortly after their release of "Portraits" album and it was great. Last night I'm not really sure what I was listening to.
To be perfectly clear however, the venue itself were all staff.

Loved it! I didn't know what to expect as I had never been to Studio 24 before, but the atmosphere was great, the staff were brilliant, and I danced all night because the music was brilliant. I loved the support acts as much as the main event, and would definitely come again. Great event!

Review of KOAN SOUND ++ THE WUB HUT ++ STUDIO 24

Overall rating: 4.5

The music was stonking, badoinking mayhem, set to a mesmerising and artistically ingenious visual display. The organiser - Finn Curry - orchestrated a heavy, underground romp that brought a healthy dollop of Edinburgh's bohos, hippies and lunatics pouring into Studio 24 to have their minds blown on glitch. Koan Sound x the Wub Hut was a belter that people should feel rightly foolish for missing

Sound Collision at Studio 24

Overall rating: 4.5

Getting snowed in at Studio 24 on Mother’s day with 4 awesome bands and a bunch of music loving people is in my books definitely the way to go.

Amazing night on Sunday! King size experience - huge stage, huge sound, bands of unreal magnitude :) - Studio 24 is a venue I would really love to come back to – will have to win the lottery first but that is just an insignificant, tiny little detail!

All bands did a magnificent job not only on the stage but also promoting the gig and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the number of people we ended up with on a snowy Sunday evening. I really want to thank everyone who came in despite the arctic conditions and supported the bans. It has been said that the live music scene in Edinburgh is a bit of a dying breed and people like you keep it alive. I cannot stress enough how much that matters - to all of us! So thank you again and hope to see you soon.

Where? Well, how about…..

Inceyte will perform in Cab. Vol. this Friday 15 March – please get in touch with the band, they still have some tickets available.

Pocket Rocket will appear in Delude Buddhas’ night in Bannermans on Wednesday 20 March – tickets will be available on the door at £4.

Dead Echoes will star the night in Cabaret Voltaire on 30 March with one of my favourite bands of all times The Number 9s – if you like music and particularly if you like music with awesome drumming in it - this is a night you definitely must not miss!

And what about Kiltreiser? No news so far – but I have to tell you - while the performance of all the bands was absolutely splendorous on Sunday – Kiltreiser has stolen my heart. You just have to see this band – great energy to both the band and their music – they are extremely entertaining –which for me kind of seals the deal – shoe gazing in my opinion has nothing to do in show business and a band that cannot project their passion on the stage is always (regardless to their musical talent) a little flat.

None of this can however be said about Kiltreiser. Amazing stage presence – catchy riffs and beefy grooves, beer spilling guitar solos, charismatic and confident Billy Idolish front man – and did I mention the synchronized ass shaking dance routine? Yep – they are ticking all the boxes for me! Their entire performance was powered by a drum machine but before you say anything - the beats were well structured and not repetitive or boring at all – probably down to Kenny the Kiltreiser’s bass man who is in fact an amazing drummer himself. Can’t wait to see them again – hopefully before long – so how about it lads – when is best for you?

Thank you again. Stay cool - follow the Black Sheep and follow the bands on facebook:
