UNDER-VOLT - 'LET'S JUST GO' ALBUM LAUNCH on Friday 7th April 2023
UNDER-VOLT:
GRUNGY, RIFF-LADEN MUSIC FROM EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND
Formed in 2020, Under-Volt is Jed Potts (guitar and vocals) and Vini Bonnar (drums and vocals). Playing an eclectic mix of grunge, rock and metal, their influences are many: Black Sabbath to Soundgarden, Led Zeppelin to Tool, AC/DC to Mastodon and more.
Jed and Vini are old pals who had been talking about a band together for years – the pandemic allowed the time. With over 50 years combined live and studio experience with bands such as Bombskare, The Hillman Hunters, The Katet, Thunkfish, Engines of Vengeance and Cloth Cat to name a few, Jed and Vini were ready for Under-Volt.
Under-Volt’s debut album, Let’s Just Go, was recorded with Graeme Young at Chamber Studio in Edinburgh, Scotland and will be released on the 7th April 2023 on Wasted State Records.
BATTALION OF FLIES:
When BBC Radio broadcast a live session of the band in 2004, then 'Evening Session' DJ Vic Galloway described it as 'One of the most popular sessions that we have put out.' When Martin Bate of Capital Radio central Scotland station, Beat 106, played 'Tumshie' off the band's album 'Blue Lips, Cold Kiss', its initial play attracted such a huge audience response that it became an instant contender for the shows 'Most Requested Playlist.' Big Cheese magazine called them one of the UK's well-kept secrets.
Across mainland Europe large sections of the rock press including German monthly, Metal Heart, gave the band glowing reviews. Since then the album became something of a rock underground secret. In UK rock monthly Rock Sound Magazine, Robert Adams described it as 'One of the finest debut albums I have heard for a very long time.' Terrorizer Magazine - 'A breath of fresh air to the UK scene.' 'A well-crafted, cleverly constructed album' and at XFM, Ian Camfield said of 'Blue Lips Cold Kiss', 'This is a very impressive debut album.'
After a hiatus spanning over a decade while the band members explored other musical projects, Battalion Of Flies reformed with impeccable timing, immediately prior to the outbreak of COVID, and began work on a new EP - 'In Dark Meadows... Chaos Reigns'. This would make it to general release in February 2021 by which point the band, buoyed by universally positive early reviews, were well into the writing of the next album. The first single from that album, 'Gorilla Suit' is due to hit streaming platforms on March 3rd, 2023, with the rest of the album following late summer
