Black Talon – ‘Existential’ Launch Show on Saturday 23rd November 2019
c; 5 tracks of intense, technical thrash with intertwined themes of despair, paranoia and suffering that is far more uplifting than that description suggests. Still as fast as a coked-up Dark Angel playing an intimate show on the Shinkansen, you will not leave wishing you had heard more riffs for your money. As well as performing tracks from Existential, you can expect to hear some old favourites, at least one song we swore we’d never, ever play again and precisely zero ballads.
Disposable: They are the pinup poster boys of Central Scotland Thrash, storming across the nation on the back of their new album ‘Suffocator’. An intense live show is their calling card and they aren’t stingy when it comes to dishing out piping hot bowfuls of riff soup. My prediction? Pain.
Tempered: These Glasgow thrashers do not fuck about and continue to go from strength to strength as they rack up the shows. You’ll get to experience all the thrill of a horrific road traffic accident without the unpleasant hospital treatment and compensation claims; their riffs will leave you upside down and covered in skidmarks.
Black Talon was formed in Edinburgh, Scotland in 2010. Fuelled by the positive response to their early live performances, the band recorded a 3-track demo that provided a snapshot of their still-developing sound in early 2011 and followed that with the release of the ‘Incinerator’ single and video the following year. Having honed their sound through exhilarating live shows played all around the UK, their debut album ‘Endless Realities’ was released in 2015. Black Talon have shared stages with bands such as Warbringer, Onslaught, Gama Bomb, Havok, Xentrix, Skeletonwitch, Aura Noir and more, and are now ready to show the progression of their sound with the release of 5-track EP ‘Existential’ in 2019.
Musically, Black Talon naturally take their cues from classic thrash in the vein of Forbidden, Exodus and Testament with the goal of building ambitious, twisting songs that combine progressive technicality with straight-up speed and memorable hooks. This is not just another clone ‘revival’ band content to rehash a few riffs from the 80's and add some lyrics about beer and pizza.
