Capital Sci-Fi Con on Friday 15th - Sunday 17th February 2019
Capital Sci-Fi Con 2019, Edinburgh’s not-for-profit pop culture, comic and movie convention returns to the capital for its fourth year (15-17 February 2019), bigger than ever with a new day added to the event.
All profits from the event will be donated to Children’s Hospices Across Scotland – better known as CHAS - Scotland’s national children’s hospice service which cares for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions.
Organised for fans by fans, 2018’s event attracted over 8,000 fans from across the UK and raised an incredible £74,740.55 for CHAS.
Movie stars lined up to attend the 2019 event are still under tight wraps and will be unveiled later in the year. 2018’s event saw fans go wild for the seventh Dr Who, Sylvester McCoy, and his companion, Sophie Aldred and Jeremy Bulloch, who played Boba Fett in the Star Wars films.
A retro gaming room, original movie props, movie star panel talks and over 100 stalls selling specialist items will all be back for 2019, along with the weekends highly anticipated cosplay competition.
Also back by popular demand is Meal with the Stars, which was a highlight of Capital Sci-Fi Con 2016 and 2018. It offers super fans the chance to dine with Capital Sci-Fi Con star guests on Saturday 16 February, enjoy a three course meal prepared by Saltire Hospitality and access to a full bar and entry to the after party. 10 tables with 10 seats per table are available and going fast! Don’t miss this opportunity to geek out with your favourite film and TV stars!
The whole event is organised by volunteer superhero fundraiser Keith Armour and his team of ‘causeplayers’ – cosplayers who do it for a good cause. Keith tirelessly fundraises throughout the year to add to the total raised during the event for CHAS. Last year Keith was awarded the 768th Points of Light Award 2017 by the Prime Minister. He also received nominations for the Edinburgh Evening News Local Hero Awards 2016 and the Local Hero Awards 2017 and was nominated for Fundraiser of the Year at the Scottish Charity Awards 2016.

Children’s Hospices Across Scotland – better known as CHAS - is on a mission to reach every family in Scotland that its support
The hard truth is that right now, CHAS only reaches one in three children who die of a life-shortening condition in Scotland; we are determined to reach them all. But to do that, quite simply, we need to raise more money.
We make sure that no matter how short family’s time together may be, it is filled with happiness and vitality. We keep the joy alive by helping families to celebrate the lives of their children while they are together, and to honour their memory when they are gone.
We provide vital hospice care services throughout Scotland to support the whole family, which is why we think it is important our name reflects this.
