About

Blues. Booze. Boogie: The Vincent Flatts ethos in three words. If you've seen the Birmingham (UK) band on the road, you'll know exactly what it means.

If not, you'll figure it out real fast once you do. Essentially, Vincent Flatts Final Drive is a southern-infused, blues 'n boogie band, with a set that takes audiences from country rock to fast and exciting boogie.

But while the music goes through the genre gears, one thing is constant: Steve 'Bertie' Burton's killer voice. After 20 years on the road with the original line up, Bertie–who in the 80s fronted UK rock band Starfighters (support on AC/DC'sBack in Blacktour and Ozzy Osbourne'sDiary of a Madmantour)–took time out. He wanted to get away from the temptation that comes with being in a band.

The result? A fresh perspective, a new approach to life on the road and a bag of great new material.

The band actually hail from Birmingham and have toured the USA three times and even appeared at the prestigious Soda Blues Club in Costa Rica, opening for Johnny Winter.

Described by Time Out as 'Jack Daniels soaked, ZZ Top/Allman Brothers influenced, Confederate rock, boogie & blues', Vincent Flatts take their name from the British motorcycle handlebars. Their music is best described as American roots music, ranging from the New Orleans swamp of Little Feat and southern growl of Omar & The Howlers through to rockin' Hank Williams, anthemic Lynyrd Skynyrd and of course West Texas Boogie.

Chicago's roadhouse rocker Michael Katon said of Flatts; 'These guys play my music better than I do', whilst after a tour with Canned Heat, Heat's founder member Fito De La Parra concluded; 'These guys boogie with the best of them, and some more!'

Led by the legendary Steve 'Bertie' Burton (Starfighters/E Numbers/AC DC), Flatts include Trevor Burton guitarist Martin Curly, and top session drummer Jamie Little in their line-up. But it is the stetsoned Bertie who is the focal point of the band.

'We started this band as an attempt to play the classic American music that radio stations seem to have left behind in the 70's. It's a strange thing, because this music contains elements of rock, Country, blues boogie and funk, and all those types of music are still very popular. ZZ Top are a huge band, Skynyrd still tour the world and we're playing all over the place. So there must be people out there who loves this stuff'

The band's new album is their third, and was recorded live in the studio at BBC Pebble Mill studios and is everything you would expect from a good time party band. The band's live show is a good old-fashioned rock & roll powerhouse fronted by one of the most colourful personalities ever to tread the boards. With a mix of Lynyrd Skynyrd; The Georgia Satellites; The Fabulous Thunderbirds; ZZ Top; Omar & The Howlers; Michael Katon; Canned Heat; and Little Feat all gloriously topped by Flatts own classic Southern style rockin', Vincent Flatts Final Drive offer you a take home slice of Americana that you will never forget.
