Derby Poetry Festival Presents: Tony Walsh
Thursday 23rd November, 6:30pm - 8:00pm
Suitable for age 16+
Tony Walsh (Longfella Poet) has been performing poetry since 2004 and brings his full-length show to QUAD for Derby Poetry Festival. He has appeared all over the UK and worked internationally for the British Council. In 2011 he was Poet-in-Residence at Glastonbury Festival and his debut poetry collection 'Sex & Love & Rock & Roll' was released in 2015. In May 2017 Walsh rose to international acclaim after reading his poem 'This Is the Place' to crowds gathered for the public vigil at Albert Square in Manchester, to pay tribute to the victims of the Manchester Arena bombing. Footage of the reading went viral and since then he has appeared at several high profile events including the 'One Love' Manchester and 'We Are Manchester' concerts, where he's read poetry on the same bill as Noel Gallagher and many others. This intimate show is exclusive to The Derby Poetry Festival and promises to kick off the event in style.
Tickets £10 from QUAD Box Office on 01332 290606 or from www.derbyquad.co.uk
