Join us for a simple teaching foraging walk learning to identify a number of wild mushrooms, fruits and plants safely and sustainably.

 

Tilgate Park Autumn Foraging Course on Sunday 4th November 2018

With a mixture of open grassland, lakes and woodland this beautiful park is the perfect place for a diverse range of edible wild foods to flourish. Located just off the A23 on the outskirts of Crawley, Tilgate Park can be easily reached from East Grinstead, Horsham, Reigate, Brighton, Croydon and even Guildford.

We will meet on the grass outside the Smith and Western at 12pm. The course starts there with a 20 minute introduction on how to forage safely and sustainably, and a brief of the general countryside codes where they relate to foragers.

Then we’ll set off for a roughly 2.5 hour walk around the area identifying the different edible and poisonous plants, fruits and mushrooms that we come across. We then discuss and taste our finds over a light lunch.

Ideal for both the total novice and the intermediate forager looking to improve their knowledge, it is also an ideal family outing!
