Moonshot: The Inside Story of Mankinds Greatest Adventure on Tuesday 2nd February 2016

Following on from Tim Peake, Chichester Skeptics in the Pub will be having their own adventure in space when they host Dan Parry to talk about the space race of the 1960s on Tuesday 2nd February. Dan is the author of the recently released book “Moonshot” which charts the history of the Apollo space program, culminating in the Apollo 11 mission to the moon.

Moonshot focuses on the human endeavor of the space program and in writing the book Dan conducted interviews with Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins and the normally reclusive Neil Armstrong. Dan will talk about the men who were capable of this momentous achievement in history and how they depended on each other as they endured the most intense period of their lives. There were some difficult personal tragedies to overcome and a terrifying climax to the journey when just minutes before Armstrong and Aldrin were to reach the surface of the moon their equipment failed. Dan will give an engaging and entertaining account of the mission that could easily have gone terribly wrong, but instead turned to a triumph.
