The Oxford Beatles: Songs from the Studio Years on Saturday 15th December 2018
The Oxford Beatles are a cover band that perform the music of The Beatles, with not a wig, nor funny accent in sight!
In 2017 the band commemorated the 50th anniversary of the release of The Beatles’ Sgt Pepper album with a five night run of live performances of the album in Oxford’s Simpkins Lee Theatre. The sold out show saw the band accompanied by a 12-piece orchestra, Indian classical musicians plus their newest member, the Fifth Beatle, Greg Hooper on keyboard.
Greg joins the band again in December, at the Parabola Arts Centre, for a completely new show.
Previous Oxford Beatles gigs have been dominated by The Beatles’ early material. Songs from the Studio Years sees the band focussing on the more complex Beatles songs that marked their transition from a live touring act to a studio band.
The show will include songs from Revolver, spanning all the way to Let It Be, a four-year period of recording that includes classics such as Something, Here Comes The Sun and Revolution.
Performing as a five-piece, audiences can expect to hear some of the more complex songs from this period, with the band reproducing the iconic Billy Preston keys parts of the late Beatles material for the first time (Get Back, Don’t Let Me Down).
Music Genres: 60s, Covers Band/Tribute Act
