Lack of Afro (Live) on Saturday 19th May 2018
To celebrate BBC Music The Biggest Weekend coming to four cities in the four nations, the BBC is holding a 10-day Fringe Festival at independent venues across the UK, starting on Friday 18th May 2018, and we're super excited to be part of it! Look out for our events held here across the week!
For those who missed their last, sold out show here in our low slung basement, now's your chance to grab yourselves a night of funk & soul straight from the top drawer!
Lack of Afro
“One of my favourite producers – he knows his way around a good single that one. Totally excellent.” Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music)
“One of the kings of modern soul.” (Juno Records)
“Making great music and always making it interesting.”
Jamie Cullum (Grammy Award winner)
Hot off the release of his critically acclaimed fifth studio record, 'Hello Baby', multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Adam Gibbons (aka Lack of Afro) is back behind the mixing desk crafting his next album. Slated for release in early 2018, this record will mark an incredible decade in music for Gibbons.
LOA ha worked with the likes of Joss Stone, Tom Jones, The Pharcyde, Professor Elemental, Craig Charles, Wax, Herbal T, Kraak & Smaak, The Hot 8 Brass Band, Flo Rida & Chance The Rapper to name a few.
Proving that he is not just a studio hermit, the Lack of Afro Live Band has gained a formidable reputation for sell-out concerts across the UK. The band features Gibbons himself on bass, percussion, occasional saxophone and drums, with many of the other players also swapping instruments, making for a truly unique live show.
The new Lack of Afro album will be released in March 2018.
Come check out the new material alongside some stone cold classics!
