Well folks, we just couldn’t resist. Happily retired with our pipe and slippers, there really wasn’t much that could persuade us to do it all again, but then Danny Tenaglia came along.
This is a booking we’ve dreamt about from the very beginning of Uber, and one we thought was destined not to be. When we called it a day we really meant it. This was not some grand plan to have a break and come back stronger - we genuinely thought it was over. But there was one nagging regret: we never got Tenaglia.
We were immensely proud to bring the likes of Laurent Garnier, David Morales, Todd Terry and Roger Sanchez to Carlisle, but we knew deep down there was one name missing from that list that would trump them all... and now we’ve gone and got him.
So why is Danny Tenaglia so special to us?
If you’ve ever seen him play, you’ll understand. Although he found fame for his crossover hit “Music is the Answer” and his long-standing NYC residencies at The Tunnel, Vinyl and Twilo; it’s really not about what he’s done. It’s how he does it.
Tenaglia is the ultimate performer. He gets up on that stage and he absolutely owns it. His ability to project his personality onto a dancefloor is unrivalled in our opinion. It can be intense, it can be dark, it can be light, it can be funny, it can be outright ludicrous. Everything we stand for at Uber, all in one DJ set. Just imagine how tremendous three hours of this is going to be?
It also gives us great pleasure to announce our venue as The Black Box Music Institute. Formerly The Melting Pot and The Front Page club, this is a building with some great history behind it. Over the past 50 years it has hosted acts as diverse as The Wailers, Tim Westwood and Josh Wink, and importantly for us, it was the place where it all began for our sister night, Lucid. When we brought a young Yousef to The Front Page in 2000 we never could have dreamed that one day we would welcome the great Danny Tenaglia to the same building, a full 18 years later!
The Black Box Music Institute is the first venue in Carlisle to be designed specifically for electronic music. It is run by DJs, for DJs, so expect a great sound and a great vibe.
Finally, we’d like to say how excited we are to get the band back together and party the night away with all the familiar faces. More than the music, this is what we have missed the most in our time away. So we look forward to joining you on October 19. We have a limited capacity in an intimate venue, so don’t leave it too late - this one’s gonna be mega!
