Starving Artists presents Strange U on Friday 20th October 2017

Starving Artists are fully amped for the return of Uk's most prolific Hip-hop crew Strange_U to Gwdihŵ Café Bar!

Support from Magugu & STAGGA, Joe Dirt - Squid Ninjaz
Djs: Mansfield Green (AV Set)

Doors 9pm | Adv £6 | More OTD

Strange U’s enthusiasm for the off key and weird reigns supreme. Stream of consciousness lyrics coupled with hefty left of centre soundscapes are the perfect antidote to today’s bland cough mixture speech impediment rap. Strange U is a collaborative project centred around two Hip Hop veterans- King Kashmere and producer Doctor Zygote (aka The Maghreban).

A firm favourite amongst fans of UK Hip Hop, King Kashmere sprung to prominence with the joint LP with Verb T 'Backhand Slap Talk/Technical Illness' which was released on the iconic Low Life Records in 2004. This was followed up by a few more critically acclaimed LPs on YNR, Receptor Records and Boot Records.

Live, Strange U love and respect the traditional two turntables and a microphone set up but augment it with triggered samples and crazy effects. The Sonics are bathed in a wash of dub echo and spring reverb. It's an audio visual assault on the senses that makes for a truly psychedelic experience.

Magugu & STAGGA - M.A.M.A. (Ep Launch)

Fat Fridge label boss and former UK dubstep activist, Stagga is a big fan of Jamaican music and good Hip Hop, his partner Magugu MC, has been described as “A Worldly Wild Versatile Nigerian Pidgin Rap Experimentalist with more energy than a Tasmanian Devil ». The newest member of the Fat Fridge Family, the pair will shake the CRAC like never before – We strongly advise you to listen urgently to their « GuGuGang » to give you a taste of what’s to come.
