Gwdihw turns into Fela Kuti’s famous ‘shrine’ for one night only, as we celebrate the life & music of the black president with live music, DJs playing the finest fela & afrobeat floor-filler & food!
“A world unto itself: at once shamanic temple and political soapbox.”, the shrine was Fela Kuti’s permanent home, moving from place to place in Nigeria as authorities sought to shut it down, before settling in Pebble St in Ikeja where Africa 70 & Fela would play politically charged club nights at a venue luscious & decadent in every sense.
For one night, we’re turning Gwdihw into the shrine – a place of politics & colour, beats & beauty, & most importantly, Fela’s incredible music itself.
Music Genres: African
