Just Yell roadshow with Matt Johnson on Friday 19th - Saturday 20th October 2018

On Friday 19th October, TV presenter and beloved Welsh star Matt Johnson will be making an appearance at St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff, to call upon local residents to support independent businesses in the area.

Yell.com - the UK’s No.1 business directory is visiting Cardiff as part of a nationwide tour to encourage the British public to discover and support small local businesses.

The television presenter is one of Cardiff’s many famous exports. Having risen to fame on The Wales Show and as a presenter on ITV’s This Morning, Matt is now one of TV’s most recognisable faces and a regular mental health charity campaigner, often raising funds for his work as an ambassador and driving awareness through documentaries around the subject.

During Matt’s appearance at the Yell stand, there will be a live Q&A where he’ll be calling on the need to support and promote small businesses in Cardiff, outlining what residents can do to help support local trade and in addition, championing his own favourite independent businesses in the area. Following the Q&A, there will be an opportunity for shoppers to meet Matt, get his autograph or have their photo taken with him.

In advance of the roadshow event at St David’s shopping centre, Yell.com has conducted research into the consumer behaviour of those who live in Cardiff. The findings revealed that residents of Cardiff are actually twice as likely as the average person to search for local newsagents online - suggesting that the people of Cardiff may be the biggest newspaper readers in the whole of the UK.

On the upcoming event, Matt Johnson said: “One of the things I love the most about Cardiff is how you can discover something new around every corner. There’s such rich variety on offer from the businesses here, I love that we’re shining a spotlight on them with Friday’s event. I’m really excited to have a chat with the people of Cardiff, and hopefully I can help them find some of the hidden gems in the city that they might be missing out on!”

Featured at the stand will also be the ‘Just Yell’ booth where shoppers are invited to take part in an exciting competition to see who can yell the loudest out of the people of Cardiff, with the chance to win an Amazon Echo worth £89.99. Shoppers can also get information on a prize draw for the chance to win a range of fun experiences designed to make you Yell, plus a grand prize of £10,000.

Richard Hanscott, CEO of Yell says, “Matt Johnson is a TV favourite, and someone that regularly champions the many delights that the city of Cardiff has to offer. With that in mind, we felt Matt was a perfect fit for the Cardiff leg of our UK-wide roadshows. They’ve been great fun so far, and with Wales’s capital boasting such a rich scene of independent businesses, we can’t see this stop being any different!”

The Yell stand will be located by H. Samuel, Pravins and Watches of Switzerland in St David’s Shopping Centre on Friday 19th October from 9.30am to 8pm (with Matt Johnson making a guest appearance from 12pm – 2pm), and Saturday 20th October from 9.30am to 7pm.
