Review of Cambridge Geek Con 2018
Could have done with alot more there it needed more traders and stands.
Would you recommended: Yes
A good fun event but not many guests or groups to occupy visitors for too long, so more guests and groups would have made it better. Could have done with better advertising of the event as found it by chance. The park and ride bus arrangements were confusing as there was no knowledge of it at the park and ride site where it was meant to be taking place.
A very big let down. A lot smaller than expected. Just stalls and a few Star Wars sets. We were not informed about actors not attending after we paid for fast track and selfie tickets. I now realise the price of these at £25 each was extortionate, especially as there probably wouldn't have been a queue anyway! The venue is great and the actual entry tickets price I thought was fair. The power ranger cosplay group were great too.
Would you recommended: No
This was a fantastic family event that all the family could enjoy
I didn’t attend the event as the guest I bought tickets for wasn’t even appearing and nobody notified me to let me know so no I wouldn’t recommend this
Really good day, good crowd, awesome costumes, we loved it.
Absolute rip off . Characters did not intetact once you had walked around the 20 stalls nothing else to do. Paid 27 pounds for 3 of us to do this . We managed to make it last 1 hour and this was pushing it. Would not recomened and will not go to another. Very disappointing.
good into to this type of event... too small for price...
Good fun and a very relaxed atmosphere
The whole family had a fab time at the Cambridge Geek Fest, lots to see and do and a really fun atmosphere.
Great convention. Star wars displays and people were excellent!
It was a very smal event. Great location just not many people.
Having taken our sons to MCM Comicon in London last year they were keen to go again. Having seen this similar, albeit smaller local event, we decided to give it a go.
There were about 30 stalls mainly selling the usual geeky goods (as the name suggests). Comics, clothing games, memorabilia etc... While on the small side the venue was excellent with the Star Wars props a highlight for photo ops. Both my boys (5 and 7) loves riding the speed bikes from Return of the Jedi. All staff and other visitors were very friendly adding to a great atmosphere. Very reasonably priced merchandise easy parking and access. As a bonus it was possible to take a look round Duxford museum too. We didn’t on this occasion living locally we visit often.
Kids had a great day! Who. Am I kidding- I did too!
Pity there wasn’t any signings and next to no talks but other that not a bad day out. Great choice of venue too.
My children loved it and loved meeting the transformers artists. Lots to see and do for children
For a small event is was very good and my little boy loved it
The event was very disappointing. Entry was not particularly well organised. Stalls looked too spa**e in the large hall. There was not much for children or adults to take part in and we were only there an hour. A few good costumes and fun at the retro games but otherwise not worth £40 entry for two children and two adults. Complete waste of money for us.
Hi, the event wasn't as big as we expected, but we thoroughly enjoyed the characters and stalls. my 6 year old was in awe of the whole event!
The Geek con was quite small, but there was more than enough to keep my kids entertained for the afternoon. We went on the Sunday afternoon, which was quite lightly attended, but this meant we did not have to queue for anything. Starwars scenes for photos, vintage video games, learning how to fight with light sabres, a good range a vendors and a few cosplayers. Food in the venue was not great (there was only baguettes and sausage rolls and my kids are a bit fussy), but you could go out to the restaurant on the rest of the site- with hindsight we should have brought a packed lunch.
The con had its faults, but I will say me and my sister had a very fun time and if there is another one held next year we will be going.

Would have been a lot better if the signings had been there as first annouced
Geek Con 2018 was a really fun event, much better then what I had expected! There is so much to see and do, I spent a lot of one with the cosplayers who were all really nice and friendly. There is lots of things to buy at the event and there is lots of things you can do, I recommend it a lot!
Hope you have one in 2019
