ROCK AND ROLL GREATS ‘THE BLOCKHEADS’ ARE BACK FOR A LIVE EVENT
Rock and roll band, The Blockheads, are performing with Special Guests on Saturday, 27th April 2019 in The Passenger Shed, Bristol.
Formed in 1977 by Ian Dury to promote his album ‘New Boots and Panties’, the band became known as ‘Ian Dury and the Blockheads’, and went on to achieve success in the UK and across the globe, with their most known record arguably being ‘Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick’, which reached number one in the UK in 1979.
The band have undergone various changes in line-up over the years, but following Ian’s death in March 2000, the group continued to record and perform, and now consists of Jankel, Watt-Roy, Gallagher, Turnbull, Roberts, and Lewis, with Hussey writing songs and performing lead vocals.
Now, over 40 years after they were first formed, the band’s April performance promises to be a night to remember, with gig-goers also treated to the musical stylings of Special Guests, ‘Joe James and the Pariahs’ and ‘Ruzz Guitar’s Blues Revue’.
‘Ruzz Guitar’s Blues Revue’ are a powerful and soul-injected Blues and Rock and Roll band from Bristol with a unique genre-bending sound. Formed in 2014 by lead Gretsch-endorsed guitarist, Ruzz, the band have gone from strength to strength opening for many well-known acts including Dr Feelgood, Bill Kirchen, and now The Blockheads.
‘Joe James and the Pariahs’ are self-described as “fuzzed up R&B driven freakbeat”, which should pique anyone’s curiosity enough to see these guys live!
With this fantastic line-up, it’s obvious that this is a performance fans of rock and roll won’t want to miss!
