Guy Calhoun and Leonie Evans Double Bill on Thursday 29th July 2021
What a great combo! Two very brilliant musicians performing in the same evening :)
Increasingly recognised as one of Bristol’s most accomplished singer-songwriters, Guy Calhoun’s rounded voice, crisp acoustic guitar and well -crafted songs reveal his clear heritage from classic British contemporary predecessors like John Martin, Nick Drake and Richard Thompson.
Guy once featured as the live guest musician on Radio 4's Loose Ends and has recorded and performed with musicians and producers from a widely diverse musical spectrum including DJ SUV, Broadway Project, Gorgon Sound, Tomorrow's Warriors, Pee Wee Ellis, Armagideon Sounds, the Easy Access Horns, James Morton and Stanton Warriors.
Founder member of the legendary Dub from Atlantis band, multi instrumentalist and Dub producer, Guy has a unique vocal and guitar style that is influenced by a wide range of genres including Roots Reggae, Soul Jazz, Latin, Funk and Blues.
Guy's music has been played by DJs from John Peel to Don Letts and Jah Shaka and on many radio stations including BBC World Service, BBC Radio 6 and BBC 1Extra.
The Cloak and Dagger is a Grassroots Venue and Restaurant/Cocktail bar in Bristol's independent district.
Events are managed by Cloak Room Community Interest Company and all proceeds raised from ticket sales enable us to continue to provide community events, live music, workshops, magic shows and and comedy nights to the masses!
Leonie Evans output to date has included two exquisite albums of dreamy, jazzy, unclassifiable song craft as part of the Bristol-based quartet Rae, plus a handful of small runs of homemade CDs she's sold along the way of her endless, meandering tour of everywhere (in recent years, she's been engaged in something like a micro scale version of Bob Dylan's 'Never Ending Tour', living a largely itinerant life from gig to gig, travelling around Britain and Europe with occasional excursions to Japan and the USA).
The Cloak and Dagger is an independent community led grassroots venue, this event takes place in downstairs in the quirky Carousel bar, for information on accessibility please email firstname.lastname@example.org
