Mixed at midnight on Friday the 13th, the last classical Jamaican dub mixer, Scientist, unleashed a dark concoction of thundering basslines, eerie piano parts, and ghostly percussion into the world. After that, the world of reggae and dub was changed, setting the blueprint for bass music with his dark, hypnagogic aesthetic and bass-driven minimalism. Join us for a hex-lifting live performance of one of dub’s seminal records where ‘Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires’.

Meet Janine Cunningham aka Jah9. Born and breed in Jamaica; singing and writing poetry all her life. Now she is spitting her conscious poetry on jazz melodies and injecting the DUB treatment into the mix.  The story of Jah9’s rise is a triumphant melody stretching through time, acting on the ears of the present, calling spirits to the past, and heralding visions of the future. 

OMEGA NEBULA

Omega Nebula is a husband and wife, electronic duo, taking influence from Jamaican and UK sound system culture. Their music is a blend of hard-hitting dub, high-spirited reggae and powerful bass, all brought together by their own joyfully uplifting and recognisable sound. Multi-instrumentalists Adjua and Dean Forrest, who together fronted eight-piece reggae outfit Backbeat Soundsystem on Easy Star Records, have joined forces to pursue their passion for electronic production. Their show is a live/electronic hybrid performance, where you can expect a dynamic fusion of synthesizers, dub sirens, huge bass, live instruments, killer vocals and trippy effects. Revered for having a captivating stage presence and for connecting with the audience on a deep level, OMEGA NEBULA will leave you inspired, empowered and energized. With continuous support from BBC DJ’s including reggae legend David Rodigan on BBC 1Xtra, this exciting new project is speedily on the rise and their live show is not to be missed!
