Brief Lives on Thursday 17th - Saturday 19th May 2018

Backwell Playhouse proudly presents 'Brief Lives', a one-man show, written by Patrick Garland, from the writings of John Aubrey.

This fantastic, humourous and hugely entertaining show is not to be missed, as we experience the lives of the Elizabethans through the eyes of one of its foremost gossips!

John Aubrey [1626-97] has come to be recognised as England’s first biographer.

Patrick Garland’s adaptation of Aubrey’s writings represent a day in the latter part of Aubrey’s life. 'It is as if one is paying a visit to the house of an old man, who makes up for the absence of friends by bringing to life reminiscences of people, remembering them and telling stories about them.'

Brief Lives is followed by a finger buffet, with live music by 'Streetfeeder': jazz, funk & Swing

Tickets are £12 (£10 members) and available now from our Box Office (John 0117 963 3586; Jon 0797 422 3081) or online from our new ticketing shop:
