Suburban Base put out their first record in 1991 and with a slew of releases across the golden years were at the front of the hardcore jungle and dnb genres with a roster of killer tunes and artists, we've invited some of them to come and join us for our 14th birthday party.
DJ Hype - our event with DJ Hype last year was an absolute roadblock, and as one of their most renowned artists we just had to invite him back for 2025 to rep Sub Base. With a career starting in the late 80s, DJ Hype earned his stripes playing radio on Fantasy FM and winning awards for best DJ on Kiss FM. He released and remixed on Sub Base with timeless anthems such as Roll The Beats, The Trooper, R.I.P. remix and 6 Million Ways To Die remix. Going on to launch his own label Ganja Records, and working with Zinc and Pascal at True Playaz and Frontline releasing countless huge tunes such as You Must Think First, Mash Up Da Place, Out For The Loot, Peace Love And Unity with MC Fats, and many many more!
Krome & Time - This legendary duo released the first ever tune on Sub Base as Kromozone titled "The Rush", as Timebase & Kromozine they released the monster hit "Fireball" b/w "Unity" before changing to the Krome & Time alias to release the anthems "This Sound Is For The Underground" and "The Slammer" both on Sub Base. Going on to launch their own imprint Tearin Vinyl which the gargantuan ragga jungle rinse outs "Ganja Man" and "The License"
Cool Hand Flex - another veteran hardcore junglist from his roots with the legendary De Underground record shop in London, and early tunes on Reel II Reel, Suburban Base, and In Touch among others, Flex makes his debut set for Brighton Loves Jungle. Having worked closely with MC Singing Fats (RIP) for many tunes (Ya Buzzin, Mercy Mercy) and produced a plethora of underground hits (Whos That, Mars) and well known anthems alike (Must Feel, Melody Madness) we are set for a real birthday treat!
Bizzy B - A regular for us here at Brighton Loves Jungle, and another absolute godfather of the jungle genre, Bizzy started his Brain records label in 1991 and was one of the originators of the hardcore breakbeat jungle sound with his futuristic chopped up beats and eclectic samples, a huge influence for many! Brain Records released a lot of the first tunes from names such as Swift & Zinc, Equinox, Mike SLammer and more. His Science EPs on Whitehouse, and "Crowd Says Rewind" on Big City raised his profile further, and his collaboration work with Pugwash as The Dream Team saw massive jungle anthems on his Joker Records as well as the stone cold classic "Stamina" on Sub Base!
