TOM's Film Club: Walk With Me (PG) on Sunday 1st July 2018
A meditative journey into mindfulness while also a study of its great practitioner Thích Nhất Hạnh, a Zen Buddhist monk and peace activist whose teaching have been hugely influential within the mindfulness movement.
Directors Marc J. Francis and Max Pugh are granted unprecedented exclusive access to Hạnh’s retreat in Plum Village, France, where he founded his Mindfulness Practice Centre and continues to reside, write, teach and guide a global community of likeminded people of various cultures. The film never intrudes but rather captures intriguingly the everyday rituals of monks and nuns on a quest to develop a deep-sense of the meaning of life and their presence within it.
Narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch, himself a great admirer of Hạnh’s influence on meditation, this film is great for anyone interested in learning about mindfulness and being in the moment, or simply for those who are looking for enlightenment from the stress of busy city living.
“A timely and welcome reminder of the importance of living in the present and the peace, love and essential goodness of humankind”
Matthew Anderson, CINEVUE
