The Sundance hit film about a New York-based female skater crew.

TOM's Film Club: Skate Kitchen (15) on Monday 18th March 2019

Director Crystal Moselle follows her stranger-than-fiction 2015 documentary The Wolfpack with another Sundance hit, about a New York-based female skater crew, collectively known as Skate Kitchen.

Teenager Camille’s life changes dramatically when she leaves her lonely suburban existence with just a bag and a skateboard to befriend a female skater collective she’s been following on Instagram. As she journeys deeper into this raw New York City subculture, she begins to understand the true meaning of friendship as well as her inner-self.

In an earnest and natural way, the film captures perfectly the experiences of women in male-dominated spaces and subcultures, and of young female friendships.

A touching ode to the rewards and challenges of female friendship”
