TOM's Film Club: Even When I Fall (12A) on Sunday 17th June 2018
To celebrate 250 years of circus, TOM’s Film Club presents a Big Top themed double bill, starting with this intimate and beautiful documentary from the producer of A Syrian Love Story and directed by filmmakers Kate McLarnon and Sky Neal.
Sheetal and Saraswoti met as teenagers in a Kathmandu refuge, survivors of child trafficking to corrupt Indian circuses and brought back across the border to a Nepal they could barely remember. This film follows them as they confront the families that sold them, seek acceptance within their own country and begin to build a future utilising the secret weapon ironically gifted to them by their former captors: their breathtaking skills as circus artists.
“Even When I Fall transforms individual experiences into a thoughtful, wide-ranging documentary touching on universal themes of the importance of education and the need for female empowerment”
