Once Upon A Time In The West (12A) on Monday 29th October 2018
To celebrate the 90th birthday of the great maestro Ennio Morricone, we present a 50th anniversary screening of one of the most majestic westerns ever made, featuring some of his most iconic ‘Spaghetti Western’ compositions.
Sergio Leone’s follow-up to The Man with No Name trilogy sees villainous would-be tycoon and gunfighter Frank (Henry Fonda) try to drive the recently widowed Jill (Claudia Cardinale) off her land to make way for a corrupt railway company. However, quiet loner Harmonica (Charles Bronson) and sympathetic outlaw Cheyenne (Jason Robards) offer her protection from Frank and his men.
Featuring one of the most breathtaking introductory scenes in cinema history, the film script was largely improvised around the mood of Morricone’s masterful score, resulting in a masterpiece, which many consider one of the greatest films ever made.
“Nobody has made a better Western since. In fact, nobody has made a better Western, period”
