Magpahi / Hawthonn / Merrick on Saturday 3rd August 2019

/// Magpahi ///

A sorceress with deep folk roots.Falsetto fairytale folk songs and 16th century poems from the black and white birds nest. Her releases on Folklore tapes are as mesmerising as they are historically vital.

/// Hawthonn ///

21st-Century Moon Musick. Underground spectralism meets edgeland herbalism from the dual star daemons: Layla & Phil Legard.Hawthonn (Layla & Phil Legard) formed in 2014, their first collaboration exploring the afterlife of Coil’s Jhonn Balance. Their recent album Red Goddess (of this men shall know nothing) (2018) has been critically acclaimed, being included on The Quietus’ best albums of the year and profiled on Radio 4’s New Weird Britain series. The group draw their inspiration from dreams, divination, edgeland geography, herbalism and lunar magick.

Their most recent release, 'The Curse', can be heard on the compilation from Aurora Borealis Recordings https://auroraborealisrecordings.bandcamp.com/album/mysterium-lunae-a-requiem-for-the-invasion-of-the-moon
