- After he graduated, Mark Knopfler worked as journalist (reporter and music critic) for Yorkshire Evening Post and later when he started his musical carrier he stabilized his income as part-time English teacher.
- Dire Strait’s 1985 album ‘Brothers in Arms’ was the first CD to sell One Million Copies, spending nine weeks on top of the Billboard album chart and 10 weeks at the top in the UK charts.
- Walk Of Life was written to celebrate buskers on the streets of London. The original video features a busker on the tube but it was changed for the US market to montage of sporting bloopers.
- ‘Brothers in Arms’ was ranked sixth in the UK’s top ten most popular albums in Britain, ever (based on sales, downloads and streams in the UK Official Charts).
