The K's at Bootleg Social on Friday 26th October 2018
Forming in Earlestown in 2017 and growing up together in the shadows of two huge North West neighbours, Manchester and Liverpool, The K’s are proving that things can in fact actually grow in the dark. After watching a video of The Jam performing ‘In the City’ live at the Circus and following years of getting into trouble together since high school, vocalist/rhythm guitarist Jamie Boyle and bassist Dexter Baker were inspired to pick up guitars and see what noise they could make themselves. The K’s were born and soon after drafted in experienced lead guitarist Ryan Breslin following discussions at an after-party they had all attended. Breslin, no stranger to the big stage, was being hired as a session guitarist touring America supporting The Who and playing festivals alongside the likes of Aerosmith, Richard Ashcroft, Liam Gallagher and The Killers. He was impressed with unmistakeable energy of vocalist Boyle and felt The K’s could be the vehicle he needed for his own head on approach to guitar playing. Fast forward to 2018 and the addition of Jordan Holden on the kit, an incredible player and a visual delight. The bands debut single ‘Sarajevo’ was an instant hit on music streaming sites, picking up fans and playlists alike and was quickly followed by their first headline show at Manchester’s Deaf Institute selling out 2 months in advance. After a recent sell out performance at Gorilla Manchester Friday 11th May 2018 the band managed by Republic Music Management and Beautiful Noise Records it's clear to see these lads are not just up and coming but they are here and ready to emerge into the limelight. They've made a huge splash into the Manchester scene, selling out Jimmys, Deaf Institute and Gorilla, with a bigger venue booked in for early 2019. A packed summer of live performances continued with Highest Point Festival where the band lit up the BBC Introducing stage, Blackthorn Festival and a packed Woodlands Stage at Kendal Calling. The debut single from The K's, 'Sarajevo', released July, is a big, bold number that can only further enhance this four-piece indie band from Newton-le-Willows. The track is currently on it's way to one million plays on Spotify.
