Paul is a retired police officer, who has worked in the Criminal Justice system across four decades. He is widely regarded as an expert on serial killers and profiling. One of the first British policemen to work with the FBI Behavioural Science Unit in Quantico, Virginia. His 1989 book, Jack the Ripper – The Mystery Solved was the first of its kind to use such profiling techniques as a resource for analysis. He has interacted with of the world’s worst serial killers and mass murderers in an attempt gain insight into their psyche and what makes them tick
As a consultant on the subject, he regularly works with; authors, and film and television production companies. He is author of 34 books, mainly true crime.
He has recently had published his first crime fiction novel, Revenge of The Malakim, book one of the Grooming Parlour trilogy.
