RetroForward Presents Pleasure Unit on Saturday 16th December 2017

RetroForward Presents Pleasure Unit

Keyboard Masher (KM Editions)

Joe Morris (Clandestino)

Field of Dreams (Live/DJ Set)

Jack Barber (MoodFix)

After a hugely successful opening party, RetroForward is very pleased to announce our pre Christmas knees-up on December 16th and what a belter of a line up we have for you. We are very happy to be able to present some of the artists from the splendid Pleasure Unit/Km Editions labels

First up we have label owner, and man of many names, Kenny Wisdom (AKA Keyboard Masher). Kenny (Damon!!), initially started KM Editions to showcase his edit skills, producing several classic EPs of disco, Krautrock, Afro and ‘whatever took his fancy’ edits. Offshoot label, Pleasure Unit, is an entirely different beast, allowing him to produce original works in his Les Crocodiles guise and bringing in outside artists and DJs to do likewise.

The first of these artists that we have for you is the lovely Joe Morris. As one of the most respected DJs and promoters on Leeds’ famed dance music circuit and one third of Clandestino, who’s excellent label and KMAH radio show are going great guns, he’s been involved in the underground music scene for over 15 years, regularly throwing diverse parties and booking interesting, quality DJ talent. Definitely not pinned to one particular sound, Joe’s inimitable style favours a melodic touch whilst being focused firmly at the dancefloor. He’s had a string of well received released on El Diablo’s Social Club, Paper Recordings, Is It Balearic and Secret Life. His ‘Lost Garden’ EP is next up on Pleasure Unit and is receiving rave reviews.

Next up is a bit of a cheat!! Our resident, Al Mackenzie’s Field Of Dreams project with partner, Chris Kentish, have two EPs due out on Pleasure Unit straight after Joe’s. Their remix of Les Crocodiles, ‘La Nuit Des Tropiques’ is blowing up everywhere, being championed, no less, by Messrs Weatherall & Johnston at ALFOS all summer. This will be their first ‘live’ /DJ set so be gentle on them please!

Finally, we have one of Birmingham’s brightest new talents, Jack Barber. Jack runs the very excellent Moodfix, also at the Hare & Hounds, bringing in some of the best, most interesting DJs from around the globe to the second city. Expect to hear a lot about this young man in the future.

As usual, we will be in Venue 2 at the Hare and Hounds. Capacity is limited to 100 people. There will be a very limited run of £5 early bird tickets so get in early if you want a bargain. Entry on the night will be £12.

Music Genres:

Deep/Soulful House, Disco, House, Soul
