Merry Hell / Ranagri on Wednesday 6th April 2022

Founded in their native North West of England, Merry Hell is an eight-piece folk-rock band with a history, a pedigree and a bright future. In four short years they have risen to become festival favourites, their first two albums finding favour with critics, broadcasters and music fans alike. They are continuing to develop an enviable reputation for the quality of their song writing, recorded work and live performances.

The band was forged in the smouldering embers of 90s Folk/punk band, The Tansads. Following an emotional series of reunion concerts in 2010, its members chose to tread the boards under a new name, 'Merry Hell', in order to reflect their new impetus, new hopes and, most importantly, new songs.

Alt folk band Ranagri are a combination of Irish and English musicians; with Vocals/ Guitar, Flutes/ Whistles, Electric Harp and Bodhrán/ Guitar and they have recorded three studio albums at Grammy Award Winning Record Label Stockfisch Records, with their latest record ‘Playing For Luck’ released in January 2019. Acclaimed previous albums are Fort of the Hare (2014) and The Great Irish Songbook with pop legend Tony Christie (2015). ‘Voices’, recorded at Real World Studios and produced by Grammy-nominated producer Graeme Pleeth, and ‘Tradition’, were both released on Goatskin Records in 2016.
Ranagri toured their latest album “Playing For Luck’, taking in tours with Justin Currie (of Del Amitri) at Islington Assembly Halls, Perth Concert Hall, Holmfirth Picturedrome and Cambridge Junction, followed by headline tours of Scotland and Germany. In early 2020 they collaborated with The Omagh Community Youth Choir for a sensational celebration at The Bunting Festival in Belfast, followed by a short tour in Ireland. With many cancellations throughout 2020, Ranagri are looking forward to returning to Germany, Scotland and Ireland in 2021 and fulfilling their Main Stage engagements at many wonderful festivals including Towersey, Filey (headlining), Beardy, Wimborne Minster and more. Currently embracing Lockdown, they are in the midst of recording their next ‘Tradition’ album, with a new download to be released every month.
