Wheeler Street - Young Entertainers and Entrepreneurs In Action (WSYEEA) is a project that will include a number of programmes aimed at empowering young people aged between 7 - 25 to develop essential key skills that will assist their transition into adulthood. This project focuses on examining some of the key social issues that can become obstacles and stumbling blocks in the development of young people. It addresses issues such as unemployment. Youth crime, substance, misuse, bullying and prejudice. WSYEEA is an innovative way of using drama and music, through mediums of engagement such as song and dance to find solutions to the challenges faced by many young people within urban context.
'Mirrors and Makeup' is a musical written and designed in collaboration with young people, some of whom will contribute through song writing and assisting the directors in their roles through peer monitoring.
Mirrors and Makeup (Musical): Is a musical theatrical production which before your very eyes, you witness the highs and lows of a vocal talent competition and; from a birds eye view the lives of young people and their peer group hoping to join the music and entertainment industry. Jam packed with fun, laughter young love and despair are never too far away and it is not long before the reality of competitiveness, lifestyle, identity and ruthlessness play itself out in their lives… They will be assigned are assigned key parts within the musical production. Mirrors and Makeup is designed to provide inner city young people with the opportunity to not just take part in a professional theatrical musical but to explore their passion for music and acting via entrepreneurship. Mentors and personal development coaches with proven track records and expertise will be assigned to the cast.
