This November, the fictional Russian assassin Villanelle from award winning TV Show Killing Eve, will be at Cake International as a life-sized cake. Turkish cake designer Tuba Geckil will be replicating the iconic scene of Villanelle sitting on a blue sofa wearing an edible pink tulle dress and pondering her next target. The life-sized cake of the character, played by Jodie Comer, will be built with a combination of sponge cake and a rice crispy mixture.
Featuring hundreds of exhibitors offering the latest inspiration, demos, supplies and advice, Cake International showcases some of the world’s best cake-decorating talent and their amazing creations.
Continuing with the thriller and horror theme, visitors will be able to explore a new, interactive edible installation inspired by the dark and twisted tales of Stephen King. From IT to The Green Mile, visitors will be able to see some of the world’s scariest characters created made from cake and sugar craft by a collaboration of incredible international sugar craft artists.
Visitors to this year’s Cake International will also see a life-sized Iroak the Armoured Bear, the polar bear from Philip Pullman’s trilogy ‘His Dark Materials’. Created by the 2017 Cake Artist of the Year, Emma Jayne, the bear will be recreated in sugar and cake. New to 2019, Cake International will host a display showcasing the colours, traditions and vibrancy of the Indian culture. The display will be created by a collaboration of expert figurine and sculpture cake artists include Tina Scott Parashar and Elza Baldzhisyka.
For those with weddings on their mind, Cake International 2019 will feature a sugar version of the iconic Ian Stuart bridal boutique, Blewcoat, with its own Posh Frock Shop, inspired by the TV show.
